1.
Was it knackered?
Yes, totally. It was when Fender bought Genz Benz and before they sold it again. They gave me the Rumble as a replacement.
2. Rotos to Elite stadium 50-110 and stayed there.
3. Mine did that and it was the end, that's how I ended up with my Rumble 500 which I have to say I'm very happy with.
4. Midi bass pedals might be an option.
5. Don't forget, Hi Ho Silver Lining.
6. 50 - 110 elite stadium.
7. I swapped my EB3 for a Hoyer in a music shop when we played in Munich in 1978. Brilliant bass. Wish I still had it. Can't tell you anymore than that really, Sorry.
8. ?
9. Love everything from Deep Purple but if I've got to choose, Woman From Tokyo and Highway Star from Made in Japan. Oh that's 2, sorry.
10. Superb! They went on to form the all bass band as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN42uzNFVmQ
11.
Sadly, there was enough time for Red Red f***ing Whine.
+ 1million

13.
Something like this? Been there - done that. However I needed to do some work on it before it was a player. - Aligned the pickups to the strings, the bridge pu was moved over by 3 millimeters, the neck pu by 1 millimeter. - Due to the moving of the pickups I also had to move the pickguard. - Reshaped the nut, they just put on a right handed one so this needed to be seriously modified. - Gave the tuner bushings a few knocks on their head, they were mounted crooked. - The fingerboard had several less good looking and finished spots, re-finished these. - Crowned the frets where needed and polished them, they were level but rough finished in a lot spots. I just can't and won't cope with this reversed crap! - Done a full shielding of the controls cavity, there was none whatsoever. - Made a thumb rest. - Made a new truss rod cover. - Replaced the strap holders, what was on there was mounted with very thin and short screws, to leave those would have been waiting for an accident to happen. - Checked if all the screws and bolts were tightened and if they weren't tightened them (more often than not they were loose!). - Did a full and thorough setup. Rebuild diary can be found here.
Very interesting. Thanks for that.
14.
I keep toying with the idea of a Rick 4005 copy off there.
Me as well. Who's going for one first? Left handed one for me though.
15. Don't know anything about that I'm afraid but did have a Wharfdale 15" passive monitor once and could only just lift it. Bloody heavy. Made of MDF.
16.
I've bought s/h doublebass strings to see what suits me and my bass. At £150 and upwards it's expensive to buy new strings just to bin them after a couple of rehearsals/gigs if they don't suit.
How much?
17. Strange how half the lights don't work for support bands either.
18. Put it this way. I don't play guitar or drums. Anything else you can think of is down to me!
19. Why thank you Sir!
20. Carry on with what you're doing but make it more so then you'll be the one who gets noticed and is talked about. The others will start to feel a bit left out and, with a bit of lick, start trying to out perform you. Instant stage show.
21. Welcome to the club!
22. I use a Peavey power amp that I have to point a fan heater at for a few minutes to get it working at this time of the year.
23. Isn't the question not what the band is worth but what the venue is willing to pay.
24. But he does own a left handed screwdriver and hammer!
