1. I've decided this is far too nice to give away too cheap, so withdrawn.
2. Now sold! Brand spanky new set of 5 Hipshot USA Ultralites - HB6-C 3/8" (10mm) for smaller pegholes. They are configured as 5 in a line right handed at present, but they can be easily switched to suit any headstock side/configuration. £70 posted in the UK. Overseas, we'll work it out. Cheers.
3. TI Jazz flats, 5 string set. Brand new and unopened. I bought these for a project that I'm building but unfortunately I've run out of funds so these will have to go. They cost me £60 posted from Thomann, yours for £45 posted to UK mainland. Bargain! Cheeoz.
4. Yes, that's what bass I have actually! It sizes up perfectly, screwholes too. I was going to spray my Candy Apple Red VM P5 cream and put this tort guard on but never got around to it.
5. WD Music USA genuine celluloid tort guard for Fender American Standard P5. Unused. Mint/black/mint side bevel. (Fits Squier VM Precision V too) £50 posted. Cheers.
6. Hipshot A style aluminium bridge. Fender mount, 18mm spacing. Top load or strings thru. Like new. Comes with mounting screws also. Sold
7. Great to hear! Always liked them, always good live. Lots of happy memories attached to Reef songs.
8.
The properties of Spitfire guards bear no resemblance to tort at all.
Hi Billy. Which properties do you mean? Are they not made out of celluloid or something? I ask as I was just thinking of placing an order. I bought a WD Music genuine celluloid tort guard for my P5 which I'm still umming about. The Spitfire stuff does look like the proper old tort. At least on photos. What does it look like 'in the flesh'? It is bloody pricey so it would have to be good. I remember your probs with him too, but it does seem like we're all over a barrel in a way as nobody else is coming close. It seems, via interweb photos that is.
9.
Nylon tapes tend to be pretty fat. Status hotwire flats have a medium compliance feel, and sound great. Not a bad price either.
The D'addario tapes are regular gauge.
10. I just put a capo across the first frets on my 5er if I want an open C. No tension issues that way. It does give you C natural rather than just a dropped C but it works for what I want.
11. Off the top of my head: Sandy Denny.
12.
If someone has a regular, fully stock '66 Precision, maybe we should do a direct sound comparison with my stock slab? Maybe one for a bassbash?
I don't, but great idea! I would love to hear the results from that one. 👍
13. I'm using Jim Dunlop Americana tri plectrums. They are for mandolins but they work me on bass. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jim+dunlop+americana+picks&safe=active&client=ms-android-h3g-gb&sa=X&biw=360&bih=511&tbs=vw:g&tbm=shop&prmd=sinv&srpd=15701922228530733920&prds=epd:2665103104266572345,paur:ClkAsKraX4u9pTeghHwBkwB8fWlmzOZfYsIY3lXZiiOwk2xP4R5v8bUdhMxlJv8SNxDK7nFwnvOjfsbMATzfRfoZh93auSoQc91zIpkzcHTuuCe6EEFsyqVV7RIZAFPVH72qqzNoVQd-ukKBiHpv6vju9o4gYQ,cdl:1,cid:3183547036902911479&ved=0ahUKEwi1-rWnusvLAhWCZpoKHSEiAKEQgTYIwAEwAQ&ei=K5jsVvW4HYLN6QShxICICg
14. I've got one of these, same colour. I love it, although I had to mod mine to make it as light as yours is anyway. These VM P5s punch waaay above their price point at full price, never mind for 175! Somebody's going to be getting lucky. GLWTS.
15. Wow this is amazing! Speechless really.. Such creativity Jabba. 👍 😊
16. I love it, but I think the neck needs loosening a tad and the headstock moved down in the G string direction. You seem to have alot of fingerboard showing under the G and not much at all on the E string side. It should bring the strings over the pole pieces into alignment too. I say this as I'm not only a geek with OCD leanings, but a serial bitsa builder who has learnt that little tweaks like that can bring it all together. No pi$$ing on chips intended! Your bass looks killer and I'm sure it sounds it too! 👍
17. http://youtu.be/k1_9eTIlZPk I have fond memories of dancing to this one at the local church discos. Bottle of woodpecker, loads of snogs 😉.. Happy days! Pretty inappropriate music and behaviour for a bunch of 14 years olds thinking about it now though!
18. Just been into Noble's music in Whitchurch (Cardiff) to pick up a nickel 5 string set, and Clive Noble said Picato now have the backing of those who import Ernie Ball strings and Basses. Picato strings are still made in Treorchy says he in the know. 👍
19. Everything that makes up a good sounding, well balanced, lightweight and resonant passive Precision 5 string. Can't be arsed playing, nor do I need, anything more faffy these days.
