1.
My Nordy P5 has a reversed P pickup, and I gotta say the higher end has great definition and tone. Whether that can be attributed to the pickup layout or the fact that the build quality and components are top notch I couldn't say. It wipes the floor with my Fender though......
Lovely bass mate.
2. TRADED. Trade my 5 string aluminium Hipshot A style bridge with .708 (18mm) string spacing for the same thing but with .750 (19mm) spacing. Mine has never been gigged and is in perfect condition. It's on my P5 right now but I'm putting together another 5er that will be 19mm spacing. If someone wants to do a straight swap, that would be great! Otherwise, 50 quid posted. Cheers! 🍻
3.
Everyone is just following the "one in one out" policy and flogging their five string in order to buy one of the many that are for sale. It's snowballing!
Yup. I'm going to be selling the 5er I'd never sell v soon. To buy a new 5er. (so many basses, so little time) πŸ˜€
4. Instead of a YOB, go for a BFL. (bass for life)
5. Personally I would go for a '59 - '65 P bass if I could. Don't rule out pre CBS Fenders (if they float your boat)as they may not be of your YOB, but they certainly were around on your YOB.
6. I've learnt a shed load from her method books. I love her.
7. I've cracked the GAS thing I reckon. I enjoy the high of it, would love to order a custom P5 from somewhere nice but can't afford such luxuries... So I'm building my own, one piece at a time. Lots of lovely GAS highs as a couple of packages arrive every month. Money that I don't really notice going really. Good thing is I can change my mind as I go. Should have it together by the end of summer (and in Basses For Sale by Christmas!πŸ˜‚)
8. Squier VM Precision V. I have one and I will never part with it.
9.
One from the vaults... http://youtu.be/VOaZbaPzdsk
Now that's what I'm talking about!
10. My boys (6 & 3) LOVE the Go Jetters. As do I, well Phon-kay! Takes me back to the t.v. I remember as a 70's lil kid
11. Well, that blew the cobwebs off. Have I missed anything?
12. I'm going for a walk, I may be some time...
13. G&L know how to do things properly.
14.
memory of a free festival. purely for the chorus. I could listen to it all day!
I have been! πŸ‘
15. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in your current P.
16. Wow that looks great with the maple fingerboard. Congratulations!
17. I have done this and it's easier and cheaper than you may expect. Once you've taken the bass apart and have the body in hand, give it a good going over with 400 grit wet and dryto let your new colour have a good key to adhere to. Wipe clean and let dry. Couple of cans of cellulose colour finish from Rothko and Frost (their solid colours require no clear CoatπŸ‘) If you've never sprayed anything before, just get yourself on YouTube, plenty of step by step advice there. Cost you about 40 quid.

Got one. It's really bloody good.
20.
Those HB progressive basses come up as Dekos fairly often, actually getting one is a different matter. But if you can get one it's a very cheap way of trying out a 5 string.
Mine actually was a deko. Still worth it if you do have to pay the whole hundred quid lol.
21. If you can remember the title of your thread, type it in on Google with 'basschat' after it. Saves loads of time!
22. I've got a Harley Benton HB550 fretless progressive and it's a fab bass. Sounds great. Well designed, lightweight (8lbs) and really comfortable to play. Amazing for such little money and totally gig worthy.
23.
I believe 1964 was a good year for White Nitro but I wouldn't touch White Lightening however!
Ugh. White Lightning. Shudder... Uniting tramps and teenagers since 1990. I'd actually rather drink the nitro! 😱
24.
Cheers! It's something I've considered, but I think I'd rather keep it stock, and sell it and put a new order in.
I completely understand, I'd love to do the same! I'd usually wish the seller GLWTS at this point, but I'm sure you won't need it! AMAZING bass for the money.
