3 Things That Inspired You To Play Bass?
andydye replied to Chiliwailer's topic in General Discussion
1) the band needed a bass player; 2) my best mate was the drummer; 3) I didn't play but was better than the guy auditioning. -

[s]Somehow (via a variety of trades and swaps) I've managed to end up with a pair of very lovely but surprisingly different feeling and sounding Ibanez Blazer basses I didn't think I'd be doing this so soon after getting my mitts on them but life happens dunnit!? [s]The '80 is fretted (as most blazers were) and has a really rather punchy tone even with the flats on, I'd prefer it to any p-bass I've ever tried without question! Comes with a new-ish and fairly nicely padded Fender gig bag. Nut width = 41mm (1 5/8") Weight = approx 4kg / 9lb[/s] SOLD The '81 is a fretless, a factory fretless, I don't think many were made (so this would be a rarity maybe?), the tone is very sweet, super vintage p with a lovely gentle mwah/swell if you linger on a note much like any fretless p. Comes with a similar aged hardcase that looks the part and all the clasps function but are getting a bit loose. Nut width = 40mm (just over 1 1/2") Weight = just over 4kg / 9lb [s]Both are [/s]really solidly made and while not especially light, doesn't feel heavy to me when worn. Price, [s]£350[/s] £300 [s]each[/s] inc UK shipping, local collection / meet up within about an hours drive of Sheffield is also an option.[/s]
You have hit the Mother-load, there! The later Blazer is a Cracker - the 1980 one, is a "A Sleeper!" These "Made for one year" basses are WAY better than many, at ten time the cost. I've got two of them. http://flatericbassa...of-blazers.html . . . . and yes, you do need two!
Beautiful basses mate! They look in stunning nick too! A BL700-NT and a BL700-TV, niiiice -
Oh that's clever, i see what you did there.....

I missed it to start with :/

Guitarists... put a capo on say the 3rd fret and play D shape, you're not playing a bloody D chord!!!!!! That's all.
They are playing an 'f'-ing d-shape though, it's just transposed 3 semitones up for capo3...
Beautiful .... slightly jealous here.
It's just possible that I may have to sell one or both to finance an incoming ACG but I'll be holding off as long as possible... -
This is a lush bass. Andy brought it 'round mine one day. It plays fantastically and just has so many tones available. Andy is a top chap as well so deal with confidence. Good luck with the sale.

Oh my god.. that's beautiful!
Thanks for the kind words guys, it really is a delicious piece of work!
I ended up leaving the roundwounds on the G&L, they sound so funky
Haha, I try to let each bass decide what strings best suit it

I'm the shorter one who looks a bit like a tree...
Well looks like I'm second here, but you can give me a swerve to someone more worthy! Hope I don't sound too ungrateful? A lantern and a credit card would be much more fun....
How about a Labrador and a naughty postcard?
