I was just going to write hang on to your money and wait for a Shuker or ACG 6er to come up on the boards. You won't get better than that for the money!
Speaking of custom made 6 strings...my ACG 6'er is for sale and isn't that far above your rough price guide...? If you're interested I could check the nut width and we could discuss numbers via pm
With regret i have had to back out of a trade deal for this bass. However, this was purley based on my inability to play bass to the standard required! This is a gorgeous looking instrument and i cant imagine you will find this kind of quality in a bass built by anyone for anything like this price! If it had 5 strings it would be mine, although i do not think the owner would part with it either.... BUMP
It's a shame matey, I reckon you'd have loved the extra sonic girth to be had from the extra string, a low b is a beautiful thing as is a high c, I just can't do both at once, I may need 2 5 strings once b-g and one e-c, yes I think that's the way forward for me, more basses

I've wanted to have a proper go on one of these for ages, ever since I heard Cachaito playing one on the buena vista live show segments, sounds pretty good, obviously not quite as good as a full acoustic but a damn good sound and a very distinctive looking little thing too, glad you got it back mate!
.............Cheers! I should have asked 'Is this model recommended for E to C, B to G, or either'.
I figured you knew about set ups n nut alterations n wotnot as you've been playing for longer than I've been alive
I will check when i am next at home but i would think that the nut will accomodate BEADG without modification, i believe all Wood and Tronics 33 inchers are shipped EADGC unless you request otherwise as Enrico recommends it, however i have seen many a BEADG. Of course, intonation and possible truss rod adjustments would be necessary, but i doubt you would need to touch the nut But as i say, i have a .130 string at home so i shall try it on later this week! and indeed i am from sunny Leamington Spa.
I ws just looking at this photo of yours showing the headstock and nut and it doesn't look like there's much wriggle room in that slot for a wider string in there... http://s75.photobucket.com/user/KevMan69/media/Snapbucket/C8E95B38_zps8e13273d.jpg.html could just be the angle though
Hi..Is this specifically for E to C stringing? Which far-away Galaxy are you from?
From the pics it has a brass nut cut specifically for those gauges so could be modified but with quite a bit of faff ...and I believe he's from the Leamington Spa galaxy
OK. But.. why not "FINEST" ?? maybe I'm being a touch over-sensitive.. but that's just me BCers!!
I'd expect a guitarist or singer one to say finest but drummers/bass players can cope with a little self deprecation can't we? I'm easily the best bass player in my band but I don't need to state it, I can just dazzle them with my drummer jokes?

I have one, kinda like it really...
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item230f4fd170 This the bow i have. For the money you really cant get a wood bow to beat it for less then 500-600. Get it re-haired when it arrives and you'll be sorted.
Awesome, thanks buddy! I guess the next question would be what rosin would you recommend for a bowing novice, and about how much should a rehair be (roughly)?
