  1. I have bought quite a few times from Bax, they are trying to be the Dutch Thomann and do a decent job. A little hit and miss so I generally use Andertons or Thomann, will only use Bax if they have a much better deal.
  2. Cog T65 well worth checking, EHX POG, An envelope filter (mxr one is great) and a good overdrive. 3 of these 4 would sort you out.
  3. So I got myself the larger PIKE. It is a little too big for my pedalboard though and I am not sure what hole to stick the jack in... 4. I like very early L42, I like the guy (he just seems a really nice bloke) and can appreciate the skill of his playing and singing (and the combination of the 2, I still struggle with combining the 2 sometimes). I do not love the music and wish he would slap a little less, just too much of it for my taste. Haters, start hating now
  5. Aah, forgot one. I depped in a "girly/soul" band a few years back. "when you believe" from Mariah/Whitney royally spoiled my appetite.
  6. I was never in cover bands until about 5 years ago, was quite the snob really. Now I am - and loving it - I do run into songs I do not like but don't mind, songs I would rather go without but can swallow and the odd no way Jose. I detest Wonderwall and Summer O' 69, but pay me enough and I will swallow my pride.
  7. Same here, 3 bands (although some with the same people) never any issues. Why? Because we have a laugh and enjoy each others company outside and inside the music. For me, unless you are mates (or become mates in the 1st year) egos could get in the way. It is also about picking your fights, too many people nowadays want it MY way NOW, which is a very bad development within human society both in music and life.
  8. I am firmly in the Under Pressure camp, it IS the song and the song was huge and still is played umpteen times a day on radios across the world to this day.
  9. RIP Lemmy, you will not be forgotten.
  10. "You can sway a thousand men by appealing to their prejudices quicker than you can convince one man by logic.” Robert A. Heinlein
  11. When I was younger and still believed "the hype" I thought I needed one. The Hush sucked donkey balls, gate trigger and release not natural at all, the Decimator was better. My opinion, you don't need it. I have a TK421, Grand Tarkin, B3K and Blueberry so 4 gain = noise pedals and just stomp them on or off as needed and it is never an issue. If you do want one get a Decimator.
  12. AKG D112 plus a Shure SM57 is what I generally use, I think I am one of many... Positioning depends on too many factors to stick into a one liner.
  13. I think we need to be careful not to make this a witch hunt just because we know and love Darkglass equipment and 3Leaf has created a similar - not the same - pedal. It is clear that the B7/3k was the basis for the new pedal, but quite frankly I find it odd that variations on Muffs, 808s etc are perfectly acceptable but this is not. The soiled business relationship will have 2 sides and my 20 yrs in business (incl JVs gone wrong) tell me there will have been conduct on both sides that led to the split. Doug Castro will be a savy business man, not a saint as will Spencer. Really the discussion should be if we like the pedals or not, nothing more or less. IMO.
  14. Excellent bit of kit, firm part of the ole board...
  15. Damn..... 48, 2 kids left behind. RIP, you will be missed.
  16. This setup can only sound massive...... Re-found an old love for Mesa bass amps recently so this is very tempting Nick, I am very happy there is not a chance in hell I could persuade the mrs to let me even access the savings account after my recent misadventures Will just have to make do with the Walkabout Scout and Venture and whimpy L212s... Lol Good price on both, the 4 ohm 610 I do not think I have seen on sale in Europe for a bit and the amp, well it's an all tube Mesa..... I have been able to try the Strategy, not and old school amp, but my word..... Super tone.
  17. You sell what people want to buy, so if you want to sell a phone with a Marshall brand you "push" the points that speak to the target audience so to speak. It's just business. Good luck to them, I'm just not the target audience clearly.
  18. Mart just bought my old Dean 8 string, utterly smooth deal, top chap!
  19. I can see how loyaltee for lack of a better word would cause this reaction. My almost 20 years in business also tells me there is - some would say unfortunately - only limited room for sentiments. It is either a very smart or a stupid move and only time will tell if the negative pr will die down. Sibob was spot on wrt non-copyrights so unless there was a breach in non-compete clauses Darkglass will have to swallow this one and just move on. Lower the unit price by $50 and nobody would even consider not buying a B3/7K. Until Mooer brings out a Micro version alonside XV, Fender and such @ $100......
  20. Besides morals, ethics, taste, professional courtesy etc there are a lot of pedals both series and custom jobs that are variations of the same basic circuit. Lets face it the B3/7Ks sound great so it was only a matter of time before varations on those circuits would start coming out. Imitation is the best form of flattery and it is pretty standard practise within the industry really. Some people will stick with the original, some will want to try out something a bit different, the market will decide what happens.
