1. Wow Kev, wouldn't mind a quiet evening with that gorgeous instrument. You could spend an evening going through all the tone options alone. Must admit a little Alpher GAS is starting to form.....
2. It is time for me to clear up some gear. Too much stuff that is surplus to requirements. For sale the great Mesa Scout 15" combo in a nice tan colour. Specs: Two 12AX7 preamp and mosfet power. Power output: 300W @ 4 ohms and 165W @ 8 ohms. Speaker: Mesa 15" 4 Ohm Comes with the original cover, manual etc. All is in good nick with only minor signs of usage. GBP700 + SHIPPING (I will deliver in greater London area, exact costs and timing to be discussed). 3. Stuff it, I will not be purchasing (again) the MB Synth, it will be this.......... Even if it is only to get the DI prices down ... See original Bass Whammy prices lately? Starting to get sensible again....
4. We are still discussing based upon non scientific parameters, so this discussion could go on ad infinitum. I will be subbing a Metallica tribute on Friday, am "only" taking my Mesa Boogie Scout 15 combo. Puny @ 300 watts........ I will be loud enough for sure.
5. Still love mine! Great bit of kit for not a lot of money.
6. Emotion and opinion vs science is always a danger, read what BFM posted please. The simple fact is that the volume difference between a 200 and 500w head through the same cab is almost negligible. It also does not do anything re cutting through a mix, that is about EQing and not power. So to answer the question: why do people buy 200 watt heads? Because in most settings they work as well as 500 and are cheaper is probably not far off.
7. Oh dear, another what is watt..... Volume and watt are a dangerous combination as it is very easy to start comparing apples with oranges. 200 watt RMS with an efficient cab will do fine in most settings. If we are talking full tube 200 watts with an efficient cab, this would melt your face.
8. Sold my Geezer P pickup to Ashley, smooth as silk transaction. Recommended!
9. That is going to have a plethora of tonal options...... Wow.
10. Bought this as a replacement pickup for my US P a few months back. Love the tone, you can find lots of rave reviews on the het. However, I have decided to turn the P I own into a PJ. Since you can't buy a single Geezer J I have gone daft and ordered a PJ set. So, I have a gently used few months old P pickup on offer for 2/3s the price of a new one. Comes with pots and such. http://www.thomann.de/gb/emg_gzr_p_geezer_butler_set.htm Price includes shipping within UK and Western EU.
11. Another pleasant and smooth purchase! Thanks Gary
12. Just ordered one.... hope it does what it says on the tin, but going by this thread I should be fine.
13. My first bass! It was the only one in the shop I could afford, back in '89. I had the white version, probably even uglier than the black one. Actually wasn't that bad a bass, single P pickup and a decent neck. Awful body wood if memory serves me correct. Fun if you are in a glam band, or as a wall ornament, or chopping down trees.......
14. Start singing and bass playing! Also doing some of the vocals has always helped me, although it is &)#%} ridiculous that it should matter. Drums and bass are the umbrella all others lean on.
15. Totally different design, the Bassist is a hard knee DBX 160a based design. 4 knob is a Ross based design.
What's the difference with this and the Keeley Compressor 4 Knob?
16. Thin pins in neck, stick neck onto body, pins make dents in dowled body, small drill from inside cavity, then larger from outside body to cavity. Job done.
17. Personally I would not want to be a bedroom player or a bassist in a band that never gigs. Why go through the effort, creative process and such and not share with others. But, horses for courses. Kate Bush is a great example of someone loving the studio and creative process but hating performing live. For me, be it with my orignals or cover projects, the 20 or so gigs in a "bad" year and 60 in a good year I have enjoyed over the last 25 years (41 now and still young in my eyes) have made my life so much richer. The people you meet, other band's music you hear, the fun and weird conversations you have, the friends I've made, venues played, the good and bad gigs, surprises etc etc have been a gift, never a chore. Very early on I realised that it would not be my fulltime profession due to - be it perceived or real - lack of stability, income and such. Heck maybe talent . But I love the fact that when my colleagues go home to watch Coronation Street I can look forward to being on stage, letting rip and getting rid of stress whilst knowing that the music pays for itself. Studio, instruments etc are all paid for by gigging. My kids come 1st, but I would not stop what I do for anyone else.
18. Great sounding basses, still a little sorry I sold mine.... Although it was the 34" version.

20. Our singer has back problems due to his large ego pressing down on his spine. I told him getting rid of his head would shave 20lbs of unused fat off. Now I am going back to sleep.
