1. used to have the 4x10 combo - seems like a very distant memory when i used to able to lift it with ease over the lip of a relatively high car boot opening
2. Marvellous This does happen occasionally I recently contacted bass direct as they are on the sandberg distributor list to get a replacement tone pot bass direct got onto Sandberg and in less than a week I received a nice little Jiffy bag from sunny Deutschland with said item

6.
Under saddle piezo strips generally go hand in hand with an acoustic type saddle which comes into direct contact with it. I'm not sure how well a piezo strip would work under a regular bridge plate. The piezo channel and bottom of the saddle need to be perfectly flat to ensure good contact and even string pressure/volume. I've used Fishman and D-Tar under saddles, both in hollow body basses designed specifically for that purpose. Piezo saddles are a good option for a solid body. I have a Hipshot piezo bridge with an East piezo buffer in my fretless ACG (in combination with a mag pickup and East SPM-01 3-band eq). This configuration works extremely well, particularly for fretless.
thanks am pleased to hear the east piezo preamp works well with the east tone board (only to be expected i guess) looks like i will be ordering some graph tech saddles then and hacking bit of wood out of the body to fit it all in!
7. can anyone advise please on the pros and cons of piezo - specifically the sort that are the single strip under the saddle type? (do these work ok on solid bodies or are they more intended for acoustics?) I've seen them available for bass and i have a cunning plan for my fretless to mount on underside of bridge with a small thin channel cut in the body to accommodate how do they compare with individual saddle piece piezo bridges? and more specifically I'm looking to fit it with the east preamp (into an east u-retro) other option i guess is replacement saddles (the bridge is a gotoh 401 and this is fixed as i have attacked the body with a chisel to lower the plate flush into the body to accommodate its extra chunkiness) i know the sound i like and am after (early TRB) but anything close would be good ta muchly
8. I've just recently gone the large rack mount box route so pretty much everything i need is inside the covers already assembled aside from that i have a large yellow tool bag affair which contains a toolbox for emergency repairs and assortment of leads n stuff gig bags or hard cases depending on the venue
9. i would guess there are going to be many occasions where it is logistically and financially prudent to hire and compromise
10. it was fine am assuming no fellow basschatters came along as nobody approached me to claim their free pint
11. Mods could this please be pinned to the top of the general forum ta muchly
12. what happens if you come up with a stunningly good idea? make sure you declare that you have full copyright on your designs or better still ask whoever has set this brief whether there is any tacit implication that they (in this case the educational establishment) have automatic copyright as the task was set as part of your course work (similar principal applies frequently with employers and they often state this in employment terms of reference which you sign when you accept a position) throw them a curve ball and ask them who has copyright on ideas submitted as coursework
13.
Steve, your big problem here (and speaking as someone who ran a music shop for a couple of years) is that you really are not going to make very much money out of that side of the market - the amateur and pub players are by far the biggest number (how many of us on here for example are MU members)?
yes i agree hence my comment about it being extremely difficult to try and predict those figures compared to the readily available stats
14.
May be worth trying the Music Industry Association (MIA) who are the trade body for UK#s music shops. They're all probably at NAMM (or recovering from it) so I'd be leaving it for a few days though.
http://www.statista.com/statistics/319278/number-of-musicians-in-the-uk/ http://www.thecreativeindustries.co.uk/media/320723/measuring_music_2015.pdf http://www.musiciansunion.org.uk/Files/Reports/Industry/The-Working-Musician-report.aspx MU you could consult their members directory to get an idea of how many are registered which would indicate how many on a pro/semipro basis as for the amateur side would be fairly tricky to guesstimate without some sort of straw poll
15. and what about PHILLY ?
16. why did you sell it? now you'll have to buy another one.... or two
17. after a brief message to sandberg asking where parts could be sourced they directed me to their wholesalers/retailers links on the sandberg website - contacted Bass Direct spoke to Mark who contacted Sandberg and called me back asking my postal address as Sandberg were going to send the part out to me direct and free of charge (double stacked concentric tone pot for the more curious amongst you) top marks (terrible pun i know)

19.
It's got 208,000 Facebook shares. TBH, he could probably ask for a pay rise.
207,998 of them probably all thinking "lazy douchebag journalist"
20. this is me rolling my eyes in mild disbelief that anybody could possibly think that BE would be so .... (frankly) sloppy quick edit before the lynch mob arrives - i dont dislike it - great to play and great to listen to
21. Squier J Squier vmJ fretless Status Matrix Energy Sandberg Electra TT4 Yamaha TRB1004 all regulalry gigged except the Yammy which is only occasionally gigged - the blue squier J is the favourite to be honest since its been modded with wizard hammers and a j-east01 gig frequency varies from one per month if quiet during jan/feb to one or two per week when busy in summer
22. Amplitube is good for headphones (never tried the output fed anywhere else tbh) has several in app purchases for effects and amp models (you will need an iRig adapter or similar to plug in) if you have midi keyboard iRig make one that is extremely compact and does midi, xlr, and jack inputs, and some of the software synths available are pretty amazing Also not a cheap app but well worth forking out if you have multiple uses is Audiobus which allows routing configurations between multiple different apps Polytune or Ultratuner are good for tuners
23.
Name and shame the pub so none of us ever have to play there. Don't be British, please.
+1 It's not 'his' fkn town
