5.
So, I've been away from Basschat for a while, been away from the bass for a while too. I suffered a shoulder injury and left my last band when the pain of playing outweighed the pleasure. A couple of years later and having healed I decided to get back on the horse. Seems a shame to waste all those years of experience. Having slipped off the radar as far as networking is concerned I've gone down the Join My Band.com route and have noticed a worrying trend. I've answered a lot of ads, had a lot of interesting conversations via the private messaging service until I mention my age (53) and every single one without exception has simply stopped communicating with me. Is there a cut off point where decades of experience ceases to be an attractive quality and people only see you as 'passed it'? Am I at the tender age of 53 on the scrap heap? Is there an alternative to JMB.com where the users are less concerned about grey hair and love handles?
in a word, No jmb seems to me to be choc full of pretence and self obsession as LDTF says, in respect of on line small ads, let the bands come to you - otherwise go out to them, go check out the local bands who you like and could see yourself playing for and get your name and experience 'known' facebook seems a reasonable option for groups advertising for musicians, also check out local websites to you that might be live music gig listings but also have forum boards or other sections - until recently we had a local website called kentgigs - youd think at first glance that it was just a gig listing website, but delve into it and it was a massive resource for local musicians including a small ads listing for kent musicians which always seemed infinitely preferrable to anything up on JMB
 6. usually, but not always, during an extended outro, depends on the song - if it is Aint Nobody then it usually happens during the middle 8 which gets extended - or the extended outro of Street Life or Mercy or similar

 9.
Have you tried dropping Status an email? They really ought to be able to info you up!
not yet ive contacted them before re this bass they are extremley helpful but i am aware they are also very busy so i thought id throw it up on here and statii forum to see if any statophiles might know the answer if there is a tonal difference themn i will be tempted to swap them otherwise will leave as is - just wanted to research rather than fiddling and swapping about and experimenting - i have the east uni-pre circuit set up quite nicely in the cavity and want to disturb it as little as possible (pics to follow later when ive finished attacking my fav blue squier with a chisel)

 13. i have an energy bolt on neck twin J pups - serial number 844 - the pups are passive with with two wires from each black/white iirc i recently picked up a spare pair of status J pups from the basschat sale forum - these have a third red wire - believe these were the 'hyperactive' version of the same pup hopefully someone will correct me soon question- is there any functional/tonal difference between the two different pups? if so how would the third red wire connect up to an onboard eq ? does it go direct to the plus volts? (have installed the new East-uk 3 knob uni pre circuit http://www.east-uk.c...uni-pre-3k.html ) ta muchly in advance

 21. behind the saddle where the string goes over the saddle, there is usually a spring - on most basses this spring is often at full natural extension on the G string (the D A and E strings will be increasingly squashed as the saddle position moves backwards) try and check it is not this spring buzzing

 23. keep buying and keep them all just in case
