2. i have an energy bolt on neck twin J pups - serial number 844 - the pups are passive with with two wires from each black/white iirc i recently picked up a spare pair of status J pups from the basschat sale forum - these have a third red wire - believe these were the 'hyperactive' version of the same pup hopefully someone will correct me soon question- is there any functional/tonal difference between the two different pups? if so how would the third red wire connect up to an onboard eq ? does it go direct to the plus volts? (have installed the new East-uk 3 knob uni pre circuit http://www.east-uk.c...uni-pre-3k.html ) ta muchly in advance

10. behind the saddle where the string goes over the saddle, there is usually a spring - on most basses this spring is often at full natural extension on the G string (the D A and E strings will be increasingly squashed as the saddle position moves backwards) try and check it is not this spring buzzing

12. keep buying and keep them all just in case
13.
Frank Zappa - Freak Out One of the first double albums and one of the first concept albums. Stunning. That is all.
+1 And another +1 for physical graffiti

15. as much as it pains me to say this, your guitarer absolutely correct its all about attention to detail and imho if you want to recreate a certain feel or groove of a particular tune you need to listen to your parts in detail to copy them precisely - many players often play what they think they remember is the correct part but their brain is filling in the small lapses of memory with what they think is the correct note or correct rhythm - only to go re-listen to the original to find they are partially adapting a rhythm or syncopation from another instrument part into their own line - from experience we have recently been rehearsing Paramore's Aint it Fun, and it took several rehearsal to get the feel just right and part of the reason for that was i was slightly over-cooking the bass line syncopation where it was not actually there in the original - it is quite surprising how sometimes very simple little changes make a big difference but once you nail it then suddenly the whole thing falls into place and you actually reach the correct feel and groove of the original
16. don't go near the Sandberg stand !!! if you pick one up you won't be able to move away without parting with your hard earned bass tokens
17. buy the card and keep and if you don't get on with it you can sell it WITH the card and emphasise the convenience of that in your advertisement hope this helps
18. only four strings - its easier of course
19.
Treat yourself to a pack of micro mesh sheets. You can then rub down with a very fine grade one , that won't leave any visible scratches but will leave a super silky smooth surface.

As above ,1200 grit paper will do it without ruining the neck.
1200 grade (usually about the finest grade wet and dry you will find in DIY shops) will satinize the gloss 12000 grade micromesh sheet will polish and remove fine scratches that are invisible to naked eye - i bought a set of micro mesh cloths from amazon recently, excellent investment for a tenner

22. Vices... Takes me back to the wonderful 70s when it was a regular on the radio Caroline playlist
23. i bloody well hope so - guess the issue is as the musos get more and more proficient the clangers get less and less noticeable by mere mortals apparently according to written reports out there (sleeve notes and other iirc), zappa's band never managed to play Ship Arriving Too Late in it's entirety all of them together with no mistakes it was too tricky even for them, the recording on the album is pieced together from multiple performances
24. why and to whom? i know camdenrob is probably having a bit of lighthearted fun but ... I'm happy with my purchases and feel no need for further justification hope this helps have a nice day y'all
