Am I the only one that gets annoyed by adverts for fake Fenders
steve-bbb replied to Kex's topic in General Discussion
I am not necessarily talking about this website but I have seen on various forums adverts for (usually) DIY or cheap looky-likey basses that someone has applied a Fender transfer to the headstock. I find it annoying, it devalues the brand and would have thought it was at best legally dubious. OK so the seller may be 'honest' to admit whats been done, but who is to say what the next owner will do. I actually have a friend who bought a Jazz bass with what is quite a well applied Fender logo, I knew the second i played it that it was not right, but he has had it for a few years and i did not have the heart to tell him. I know Alembic will not even post a replacement logo even if you have bought a bass direct from them (and they record every sale etc) you have to return the instrument to them to have it replaced - a real pain in the bum BUT I can see why they do it. Yet I often see Fender transfers for sale, even on music supplies web sites, really do not understand why Fender allow it. Rant over
not as much as eejuts who dont look after their instruments then try and pass it off as 'cool mojo relicing' first against the wall when i rule the world -
If you scroll down the Hartke Facebook page there's a comparison video of the 2x10 and 1x12 cabinets. A single 4x10 does go louder than a single 12, but a pair of 12's deliver more lows than the single 4x10. Tonally the 12's have a softer mid range than the 10's but a bit of EQ will help there.
thanks found it - quite a noticeable difference isnt there

just wondering if anybody has swapped from a hydrive 410 to a pair of hydrive 112 - just wondering what the tone and power comparison was like - am getting older and need to lighten up the rig for the sake of my aching joints and getting it easily in and out of the car/venue am currently using an LH500 head with hydrive410 - my ears are immensely pleased with it but my back isnt ! rather tempted too by the look of the new 600w class D hartke lightweight head which is being released in UK any moment now i believe ta muchly in advance

Help, my Hartke HA3500 is a very sick lady.
steve-bbb replied to Zombie1965's topic in Repairs and Technical
had similar ish problem with HA2500 head - sent it off to local amp tech who complete overhauled the speaker out jacks and send/return jacks which cured the problem -
Principle involved here or am I over reacting?
Just got in from a gig. A long trip and not much money but we enjoy the place. Great crowd, up for it from start to finish. We're aware of how much the owner pays as a maximum (lower than our usual fee) but we agree to do it as it's fun. However, tonight was a little different. It was a great night and we see the owner (he's a Brit) passing round a glass, collecting "for the band" At the end of the night, we get paid our usual fee and for me, therein lies a problem. Had he not collected any money "for the band" I would have been perfectly happy with my smaller than usual, but agreed upon fee but the people putting notes into the glass were obviously under the impression that the band would benefit from it yet only the owner has because, his contribution to the cost of the band is now much smaller. He was collecting for him, not us. I see this as immoral and dishonest and no different from collecting charity donations and then keeping it. I have just told the band that I will not play there again but obviously if they want to, they can use a dep. This isn't about the money at all. It's the principle and the fact that at age 64, I no longer wish to deal with, or need to spend any time with dishonourable w***ers.
name that venue please - particularly on twitter and facebook -
remember from this point onwards the more you do it the easier it gets hope this helps

could i be next in the queue please if this is still available - ta muchly

if its an option then a few sessions of tuition could be good - whether a local tutor and 'in person' or online webcam tuition
So, I've been away from Basschat for a while, been away from the bass for a while too. I suffered a shoulder injury and left my last band when the pain of playing outweighed the pleasure. A couple of years later and having healed I decided to get back on the horse. Seems a shame to waste all those years of experience. Having slipped off the radar as far as networking is concerned I've gone down the Join My Band.com route and have noticed a worrying trend. I've answered a lot of ads, had a lot of interesting conversations via the private messaging service until I mention my age (53) and every single one without exception has simply stopped communicating with me. Is there a cut off point where decades of experience ceases to be an attractive quality and people only see you as 'passed it'? Am I at the tender age of 53 on the scrap heap? Is there an alternative to JMB.com where the users are less concerned about grey hair and love handles?
in a word, No jmb seems to me to be choc full of pretence and self obsession as LDTF says, in respect of on line small ads, let the bands come to you - otherwise go out to them, go check out the local bands who you like and could see yourself playing for and get your name and experience 'known' facebook seems a reasonable option for groups advertising for musicians, also check out local websites to you that might be live music gig listings but also have forum boards or other sections - until recently we had a local website called kentgigs - youd think at first glance that it was just a gig listing website, but delve into it and it was a massive resource for local musicians including a small ads listing for kent musicians which always seemed infinitely preferrable to anything up on JMB

usually, but not always, during an extended outro, depends on the song - if it is Aint Nobody then it usually happens during the middle 8 which gets extended - or the extended outro of Street Life or Mercy or similar
Have you tried dropping Status an email? They really ought to be able to info you up!
not yet ive contacted them before re this bass they are extremley helpful but i am aware they are also very busy so i thought id throw it up on here and statii forum to see if any statophiles might know the answer if there is a tonal difference themn i will be tempted to swap them otherwise will leave as is - just wanted to research rather than fiddling and swapping about and experimenting - i have the east uni-pre circuit set up quite nicely in the cavity and want to disturb it as little as possible (pics to follow later when ive finished attacking my fav blue squier with a chisel)

i have an energy bolt on neck twin J pups - serial number 844 - the pups are passive with with two wires from each black/white iirc i recently picked up a spare pair of status J pups from the basschat sale forum - these have a third red wire - believe these were the 'hyperactive' version of the same pup hopefully someone will correct me soon question- is there any functional/tonal difference between the two different pups? if so how would the third red wire connect up to an onboard eq ? does it go direct to the plus volts? (have installed the new East-uk 3 knob uni pre circuit http://www.east-uk.c...uni-pre-3k.html ) ta muchly in advance
