1.
Just a quick Hi to everyone here, only just come over to the Dark Side here in Wales I've herd all the Sheep Jokes. So dont bother with them . My Son who is 9 also plays Bass ,well he started last week. So Hi to all .
that will be quite unnecesssary weve already got gene simmonds and some bloke from u2 forget his name as our local whipping boys
 2.
Do you mean if you touch the pole pieces when not also touching strings you get hum/buzz ? On some J PUs there is a third wire which grounds the metalwork and a copper screen - if you don't have three wires this could be why the prob. If you have three wires, perhaps there's a fault in the connection or wiring - 2 of them should go to ground. You can add a third wire to ground the pole pieces, need something to spring contact with them inside the PU it's fairly tricky. Or get 3 wire variants !
no third wire - they are wizard hammers - will not be replacing them because they took me a while to track down a pair on here and they sound flippin fantastic - they might be tinkerable will have to investigate i think the black plastic cover is removable and they are not all resin or wax dipped so could be an option
Shoot a message to Rich/Grangur. I had a similar issue on a (Precision style) passive circuit. Grounding problems...buzzing stopped with a finger on the tone, increased if you touch the pickup pole. He's advised the issue has been resolved quite simply (something not connected).
buzzing stops when you touch any other item that is grounded - cant say have noticed if the buzzing varies with the tone swell will give it a try this afternoon - thanks will message rich/grangur
 3. just discovered i have a grounding issue but is not where i would have expected have just recently pulled the J apart - lined the back of the pup cavities and the control cavity with adhesive aluminium tape and lifted the bridge and made sure the ground contact was good under there too - connected all the lined cavities together by crimping tags on the ends of connector cable and screwing down - as i fitted a j-retro i used the installation advice on there and connected the ground from the j-retro to another tag screwed into the cavity lining in close proximity to the tag connecting the other cavity grounds result was great no undue noise at all even with the gain cranked right up except from the pickup pole piece magnets themselves but only when hands not in contact with strings/bridge/control plate etc have i done something fundamentally wrong? is there a remedy (other than trying not to touch the pole pieces when playing open strings (would rather not go down the route of new pup covers would like to keep them as is) ta muchly in advance
 4.
I could never hate another musician because of his performance techniques. I might lure him to a deserted warehouse and shoot him in the face but I'd do it with love in my heart.
so you wouldnt prefer to see an instructional video of carol kaye showing gene simmonds how to actually play the goddam bass... and just for good measure pulling his trousers down and smacking the back of his legs in public to bring him down a peg or two??? i bet theres quite a few chatters who'd pay good money for it!
 5. willl check back on this post at end of month when pay day comes around again
 6. played private party in a huge modern barn two ifor trailers to make up a stage platform - the singers and guitar and sax had a nice time but meself and the keyboard shared the rear trailer with thumper so our rigs were bouncing around in a rather lively fashion - second time of using a hay bale as a cab stand - auralex better watch out i might be marketing this idea, great sound projection and isolation from the floor - was surprisingly cool and airy inside considering it had been over 26 degrees all afternoon
 7. white is the signal and black is the ground - with t'other the central covered wire is the signal (sometimes referred to as hot) and the braided screen wire surrounding it is the ground (or earth)
 8.
Position of the pickup on a P is KEY.
i suspect the neck profile may have something to do with this weird black art of why Ps and Js sound uniquely different runs for cover
 9.
And another thing: Guitar pedal-boards the size of an aircraft carrier: If you can't do it with just a Telecaster and a Blues Junior then go somewhere else, you talentless c**k. 100w Marshall guitar stacks: Small amps don't give you the 'tone'. Only effeminate losers gig with 15w combos Compressors for Bass: You fool. You complete fool. Everyone knows it's all in the fingers Stage Banners: You want the audience to know who you are? And where to find you? So those inbred mutants can come round and eat you with their pointy teeth? Smoke Machines: Only if you play Smoke On The Water. Or a Smokie medley (see medleys above) Playing 'Happy Birthday': Yeah. And why not jump out of a f**king cake wearing a bikini while you're at it? Playing requests: Don't grovel to the bastards. Ask them if they own the CD. Then tell them to sod off home and listen to it, then Being nice to the soundman: F**k 'em if they never learned to play an instrument. That makes them your servant. And - no - they don't get access to 'band pussy'. Being nice to pub landlords: Essential. Without them you wouldn't have the benefit of all that 'exposure' Being nice to the audience: What is this? Group therapy or something? Treat 'em mean, keeps 'em keen. Just like women, really.
11.
Chap down in Norwich - asked for dull nitro 3t sunburst with lots of mojo and checking. Results will be uploaded for your viewing (dis)pleasure (delete as appropriate) He reckons a month or so
you could have at least put out a complimentary [s]bucket[/s] skip load of popcorn
 12. nobody ever tells me so guess it must be something along the lines of mediocre and uninspiring
 13. Vocalist required for covers band Male or female vox to share lead and backing vocals medway/maidstone based
 14.
In listening to some Zappa, where should one start? Recommendations? Ta.
one size fits all + sheikh yerbouti
 15.
Promoters like to see that bands turn up on time, with reliable kit, play with an air of professionalism and stay until the end of the night to support the other acts.
ah yes the old do as i say not as i do principle might get away with it if the promoter had any sort of decent reputation but at face value from comments so far this does not appear to be the case i'll grab some more popcorn and continue watching and fwiw i would have also walked and would have mad e it quite clear to the venue management that any lack of perceived professionalism should lay exclusively at the feet of the promoter hope this helps
 16. beer festival saturday night outdoor marquee gig - huuuge crowd quite a few of whom we managed to encourage to shake their groov thang - mainly due to the fact that the saturday night seemed to scoop up all the punters who changed their minds about going friday night because it was pi$$ing down - on a technical note i took the TRB out for a spin as i stopped gigging it many many months ago due to handling issues but since getting my hands on a tasty little dbx160a from this here sale forum the TRB now actually seems to behave itself a bit better on a downside the old age wear and tear thing is a slippery slope and am getting mightily cheesed off having a bad back after every single gig from lugging the bloody 4x10 around - it sounds awesome but my back does not agree with my ears
 17. i liked my squier affinity J so much i splashed out on a set of wizard hammers and a j-retro pre (both preloved from basschat) for it so does that make it technically NOT a cheap bass any more?
 18.
I've never been to a jam night. I dunno. I really don't fancy it at all. I have a vision of people who know every song ever written or can just make stuff up on the spot. Both are pretty disturbing thoughts
copperfield road endlessly ad nauseam hope this helps
 19.
But what if you were to spell Chutzpah correctly?
artistic licence dear boy (that and the logo/branding potential of H+H over H+C) hope this helps
 20. not at all shabby for 15 cant hear any LC but can hear plenty of FREEDOM FOR KING KONG which is not necessarily a bad thing
 21. Hubris + Hutzpah .... if anybody is looking for a new band name (1% royalty non-negotiable)
 22.
I'm actually surprised that they found two hit songs that weren't written by the same team of 15 writers and producers... #oldcynic
never realised it was as many as fifteen
 23.
It's also a good story for your local press. Be all good natured about it if you talk to them, saying you think it's quite funny being confused with a bunch of schoolkids who are learning to play...
this they are teenagers so notwithstanding the fact that they do in fact 'know everything' stay low key, make sure your online presence is clearly stated (preferrably without animosity or ambiguity) and let it play it's course and see where it goes it might turn out to both your advantages then again they might just grow out of it in a couple of weeks and post all their stuff up for sale on the nearest facebook musical sale forum group OR you might all get YOUR asses royally butthurt when they advertise for a SERIOUS DEDICATED singer as they have loads of material and are about to go into the studio and have management and promotion and WILL be the next big thing well punks ... do you feel lucky?
