2. as much as it pains me to say this, your guitarer absolutely correct its all about attention to detail and imho if you want to recreate a certain feel or groove of a particular tune you need to listen to your parts in detail to copy them precisely - many players often play what they think they remember is the correct part but their brain is filling in the small lapses of memory with what they think is the correct note or correct rhythm - only to go re-listen to the original to find they are partially adapting a rhythm or syncopation from another instrument part into their own line - from experience we have recently been rehearsing Paramore's Aint it Fun, and it took several rehearsal to get the feel just right and part of the reason for that was i was slightly over-cooking the bass line syncopation where it was not actually there in the original - it is quite surprising how sometimes very simple little changes make a big difference but once you nail it then suddenly the whole thing falls into place and you actually reach the correct feel and groove of the original
3. don't go near the Sandberg stand !!! if you pick one up you won't be able to move away without parting with your hard earned bass tokens
4. buy the card and keep and if you don't get on with it you can sell it WITH the card and emphasise the convenience of that in your advertisement hope this helps
5. only four strings - its easier of course
6.
Treat yourself to a pack of micro mesh sheets. You can then rub down with a very fine grade one , that won't leave any visible scratches but will leave a super silky smooth surface.

As above ,1200 grit paper will do it without ruining the neck.
1200 grade (usually about the finest grade wet and dry you will find in DIY shops) will satinize the gloss 12000 grade micromesh sheet will polish and remove fine scratches that are invisible to naked eye - i bought a set of micro mesh cloths from amazon recently, excellent investment for a tenner

9. Vices... Takes me back to the wonderful 70s when it was a regular on the radio Caroline playlist
10. i bloody well hope so - guess the issue is as the musos get more and more proficient the clangers get less and less noticeable by mere mortals apparently according to written reports out there (sleeve notes and other iirc), zappa's band never managed to play Ship Arriving Too Late in it's entirety all of them together with no mistakes it was too tricky even for them, the recording on the album is pieced together from multiple performances
11. why and to whom? i know camdenrob is probably having a bit of lighthearted fun but ... I'm happy with my purchases and feel no need for further justification hope this helps have a nice day y'all
12. seems like an opportunity to post link to a bunch of rather nice remixes http://spotify:album:3s3RuMirqSd2QXGE8XnKBh was on youtube but seems to have been removed for infringement or sumfink
13.
Olias of Sunhillow, absolutely sublime album!
+1 for olias smallcreep's day ? thing fish probably not everybody idea of concept album but janelle monae's archandroid has a bit of a concept feel for me [s]seventh[/s] ninth wave (ok so its only half an album) todd rundgren's initiation too many bill nelson albums to mention - red noise sound on sound would possibly be a good one coming in on the post punk era tubes - completion backward principle
14.
as with any IT it takes a while to learn to use it and as there is often the need for an urgent tweak, it can be a hinderence if you aren't skilled with it.
conversely if the sound engineers are very acquainted with the kit they can solve problems very quickly - we had a big wedding reception last year with a very well equipped sound crew and had some really strange on stage feedback going on during the soundcheck - man with iPad comes up on to the stage whilst we were playing and fixed the problem in less than 20 seconds
15. totally plastic with some wooden bits
16. used to have the 4x10 combo - seems like a very distant memory when i used to able to lift it with ease over the lip of a relatively high car boot opening
17. Marvellous This does happen occasionally I recently contacted bass direct as they are on the sandberg distributor list to get a replacement tone pot bass direct got onto Sandberg and in less than a week I received a nice little Jiffy bag from sunny Deutschland with said item

21.
Under saddle piezo strips generally go hand in hand with an acoustic type saddle which comes into direct contact with it. I'm not sure how well a piezo strip would work under a regular bridge plate. The piezo channel and bottom of the saddle need to be perfectly flat to ensure good contact and even string pressure/volume. I've used Fishman and D-Tar under saddles, both in hollow body basses designed specifically for that purpose. Piezo saddles are a good option for a solid body. I have a Hipshot piezo bridge with an East piezo buffer in my fretless ACG (in combination with a mag pickup and East SPM-01 3-band eq). This configuration works extremely well, particularly for fretless.
thanks am pleased to hear the east piezo preamp works well with the east tone board (only to be expected i guess) looks like i will be ordering some graph tech saddles then and hacking bit of wood out of the body to fit it all in!
22. can anyone advise please on the pros and cons of piezo - specifically the sort that are the single strip under the saddle type? (do these work ok on solid bodies or are they more intended for acoustics?) I've seen them available for bass and i have a cunning plan for my fretless to mount on underside of bridge with a small thin channel cut in the body to accommodate how do they compare with individual saddle piece piezo bridges? and more specifically I'm looking to fit it with the east preamp (into an east u-retro) other option i guess is replacement saddles (the bridge is a gotoh 401 and this is fixed as i have attacked the body with a chisel to lower the plate flush into the body to accommodate its extra chunkiness) i know the sound i like and am after (early TRB) but anything close would be good ta muchly
23. I've just recently gone the large rack mount box route so pretty much everything i need is inside the covers already assembled aside from that i have a large yellow tool bag affair which contains a toolbox for emergency repairs and assortment of leads n stuff gig bags or hard cases depending on the venue
24. i would guess there are going to be many occasions where it is logistically and financially prudent to hire and compromise
25. it was fine am assuming no fellow basschatters came along as nobody approached me to claim their free pint
