2. find a good shop with a good selection of both fender and squier and compare the two unless money is not significant factor in your final choice, id wager a tenner i can guess which one you will end up buying
 3.
Hi Steve, I do indeed. Do you think this could be part of the problem?
well if youre heavy handed like i am then the weight of your thumb/hand combined with the slight rocking motion against the pickup is going to pull against the screw maybe - youre basically pulling against the strings so there will be an approximately equal opposite force going through the pickup/body where the tip of your thumb connects with it and unless you play with your hand absolutley still then there is going to be 'some' leverage against those screws maybe a combination of that and what nugget says above - sounds like you might need to plug the screw holes with some slithers of wood to pack the screw in tighter
 4. do you (like me) use the top edge of the pickup cover as a thumbrest?
 5. saw them at knebworth 79 jimmy page was stoned out of his tree (sloppy) JPJ and JB still the tighest most powerful bass/drum combo ive ever seen live
 6. made it to 48 seconds ... can i have them back please?
 7.
Last time my early Tonebender packed up, it was down to a dry joint on one of the battery wires. Fantastic vintage fuzz pedal
does yours still have the original wiring? that stuff is so thin and brittle im worried it will break just looking at it ! im still at a loss to comprehend hw something so jawdroppingly basic and tacky can produce such a unique sound - guess it must be down to the specific charateristics of the components used

 9.
Last time my early Tonebender packed up, it was down to a dry joint on one of the battery wires. Fantastic vintage fuzz pedal
thanks will make that the first point of checking as mentioned on my previous for sale thread i did leave the 9v battery inside but it stayed clean and didnt leak - i cant think that a 9v battery slowly discharging over time would have caused any problems - the only other working parts inside it are the pots themselves and from what i recall it was fairly clean with no crackles - theyd be a bugger to replace authentically anyway too but a wee bit of re-soldering on dry joints should be ok to sell it
 10.
Could be a bad solder joint(s). It looks to be a very basic circuit design and a fault could be easily traced by someone with minimal skill. But then that puts you in a quandary, does it lose it's "silly money" value if you start re-soldering the joints?
well personally if i was going to keep it and gig it the first thing to happen woul be a complete overhaul of the wiring - its dreadful ! dont know how they had the nerve to charge £26.00 or whatever it was back in the 70s for this
 11. been sat in the attic since it was last gigged in about 1982 - dug it out at the weekend placed new battery in and not working anybody any ideas at all what can go wrong with these when they are sat doing nothing at all for 27 years? ive checked the footswitch and give it a clean but apart from the three pots there are no other working parts and in its life between new in 1976 and me last gigging it in about 1982 it had very minimal use ta muchly (previous thread was started on the effects for sale board but going to have to get it repaired/serviced now before sale) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/158129-colorsound-tonebender/
 12. quick morning bump anybody any clues in what could possibly deteriorate or fail from lack of use? when it was stashed away 20 years ago it was working fine the only thing i can think of that might be significant is leaving it stored with the battery inside - although bear in mind too the age and this was an EVER READY SILVER SEAL with only the fraction of thge capacity of modern alkaline/lithium batteries - - quite often with those old batteries they would leak their corrosive juices everywhere but when i opened uo the box the battery was completely dry and clean any ideas where to start much appreciated . ta
 13.
Being a hawker of the rootsier end of things, I dream of the day when a drummer turns up with no more than a snare, a hi-hat and a couple of sticks.
our drummer often only turns up with a snare bass hihat and crash (despite the fact that he owns six complete kits)
 14. ok so after fetching it from the loft i inserted a fresh working battery and plugged it in and lo and behold .... not working i dismantled and reassembled the footswitch but still nothing - anybody have any clues as to what might possibly go wrong with these after 'not being used' for 25 years? looks like a quick trip to an effects expert for some repairs/servicing before sale!
 15. i can do better than £300 ... squier affinity J - i just picked one up this afternoon from my local music emporium (Sound & Image in Chatham ) for 149 (Used) but apparently you can get them for 200-220 ish new - quite frankly im chuffed to pieces it luvverly and spend the £100 you would have saved towards a hartke and you cant really go wrong
 16. looks like a potential NYJO candidate in a few years already playing well now ! how good is he going to be when the auto-pilot kicks in! definite pro drummer potentia
 17.
I hate to say it and - yes they do look like bellends and the performance is totally OTT- but I think they have something.
yes they have something and lets hope its not catching because theres already too many sh1te indie bands around

 19.
Well done for nailing down a fav of mine 'Chameleon'. I had never heard of this song until I went to a 'chill-out' bar in Glasgow. The 4 piece band that played this were truly superb!! I was at the bar getting the drinks and when I heard this song I had to ask the band leader what they were playing. A seemingly straightforward bassline but still sounds amazing!! Still need to have a go at it myself!! How did you learn to play it? By reading music or just working it out yourself?
