1. do you still have the piece that became detached? a careful application of decent wood glue and clamping carefully in place and then cosmetic retouching afterwards should not be too problematic as long as the detached section is in one piece?
 2.
So, who is secretly going to learn a slap party piece for the day
would love to go to this but the cynic in me is already saying RUN AWAAAAAY
 3. ok update time - after to a visit to a friend who a rather a whizz of an electronic engineer i now have a fully functioning fuzz box! now to begin the marketing strategy of where and how to advertise it to maximise the beer token return
 4. keep your fingers crossed that we get to sell the spare house quickly!
 5.
Scott Thunes on Dupree's Paradise from Make a Jazz Noise Here. 65 P Bass, played with a pick, some chorus into a Trace I think.
personally i prefer the original rendition of the picked P bass (but neither are my favourite zappa bassist but thats a whole different thread!) 6. if you dont already know it and/or cover it ..... having a listen to this and plink along http://youtu.be/0Wx-gt0jl4o not only does it sound absolutely bloody lush but that rolling riff in the refrain is just sooo satisfying to roll your fingers around go on treat yourself
 7. patrick o'hearn's bass tone imho is up alongside jaco himself check out the interplay from 4:15 its rather good
 8. only 80% the guitarist/leader of the band i am in has the most well worn capo in the northern hemisphere
 9. we recently did a little gig at local pub and just for a change we threw in a bossa version of teenage kicks went straight over everyones head - like we became the invisible band for 3 minutes - it amused us though
 10.
He sounded pretty much the same at the Dublin gig a few months ago.
maybe he has developed a cunning vocal technique of emulating the auto-tune i saw them on the permanent waves tour at hammersmith odeon and thought they were great but then i was young and impressionable
 11.
This put me off. Geddy is struggling to reach the high notes these days. I'd rather remember them as they were.
not being a studio tech expert but...does anybody else get the same impression as me that the fluctuations in the voice (especially the SOR clip) sound like auto-tune struggling to track correctly ?
 12. me too even if he does think he's turned into snoop snoopy dogg dog these days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9fHHqTZGhQ
 13. i only have the two so you have the one plus one for backup principle - number one bass is the trb which i use for bright big sound number two bass i purposely went out and bought a squier jazz to use for all the older motown/soul/stax type stuff - you can roll off all the top from the trb but its still not quite the same as a jazz with a set of 'mellowed' strings there is another bonus too - if you have a 35 and do all your practice on that, it will feel like a walk in the park when you then do it on a 34
 14. first - shaftesbury les paul go to - trb yours - trb
 15. did you check if htere is any standard level of cover with TNT automatically included? i use UKMail through my business and all deliveries with them are insured up to £500 with incremements available above that if necessary for more valuable items
 16.
Being French, I don't think he'd get the underlying sarcasm of "widdly"
any fluent french speakers please provide me with a nice idiomatic translation - ty
 17.
As a massive Fender fan I think Fender got it really wrong. The recession kicked in, people are struggling so they jacked the prices right up. My most modern bass is late 80s now so it doesn't directly affect me but it was a poor move
theyre not the only ones - when the recession fired up a couple of years ago my first thoughts were 'great i should be able to get a few good photographic bargains only to discover that Canon had massively hiked their RRP's '
 18.
And that stupid haircut. Jesus Christ. This 'youtube generation' need to learn that no one gives a flying f*** about them. Just because they can mangle a song whilst the camera is rolling doesn't mean the world needs to see their efforts.
thought i was reading the stone roses reforming thread again for a moment there
 19.
Me at the guitar festival last Saturday trying to convince the guitarist in the trio that as we're surrounded by hundreds of other good guitarists, it'll sound a bit better if we drag a few up to guest. My tactfull way of saying it sounds thin when he's soloing on certain numbers
nice bass! i hope you managed to shoehorn in the phrase 'when you do your widdly bit in the solo'
 20.
You can tell from his Username what his attitude is likely to be like
do you have your own moat and drawbridge ?
 21. keep an eye on joinmyband (and similar) website too - lot of naughty peeps have been using sites like it to sell stuff have you heard of the immobilise website ? you can enter serial numbers of all sorts of personal property on there - its main aim is to assist police forces in restoring found or recovered property to its rightful owner - especially if it is found away from the area it went missing - it enables police forces to search UK wide and not just their own area - havent looked at the site for a while but i think it also allows a buyer to enter a serial number of an item to see if it comes up on the lost/missing list?
 22.
What are you complaining about? You've just been given licence to do whatever the hell you want with your basslines and you know none of them are going to bicker about it. That's the dream gig. Score!
i honestly dont think a great many guitarists and vocalists dont actually realise what youre doing unless you happen to play with a lot of top end and middle punching it through if like me you play with a big fat bottom and no top and mid-mids i concur with all the opinions above that you can pretty much get away with whatewver you please .... a bit like a DJ playing 'dog like sparkey' at an old folks knees up!
 23.
I think it`s a vocalist thing, Muzz. No matter what bass/amp/string combination I`ve used, the singer in one of my bands retort is always: "It just goes boom boom." Like I`m playing Basil f8cking Brush!
try something like "what do you want me to play in the middle 8 when you do the shouty bit?" see how that goes
