1.
For those that play covers, are there any classic songs which have basslines you'd love to play but would decline for fear of not doing a good enough job For example, id love to play "hit me with your rhythm stick" and "forget me knots" In the past i've agreed to play lines that I thought might be beyond me, but with practice i've pulled them off to everyones satisfaction, but the issue is still there Anyone else have this ?
you read my mind - was talking to our drummer only the other day and suggested we should do rhythm stick - i think with songs like this its a case of if its within your ability then do it strictly as per the record - if not practice until you can or choose another song - but with rhythm stick its such a funky flowing little number it will most certainly be worth the effort as it is a real crowd pleaser
2. never mind fragile stickers id prefer to get some good locks on it that couldnt 'accidentally open' when it gets 'accidentally dropped'
3. lovely id hate to bring up the dreaded 's' word but 1:16 anybody? i guess it must the exuberance of youth and all that jazz - but in the bigger picture... 9.8/10 because the trb sounds absolutley luuuuuuusssssh

5.
So, in my experience, you get a better overall sound by moving a greater proportion of your 'spend' over to the amp and cab. So, I think your plan is a good one.
AND if you go for a hartke you get serious bang for your buck without shelling out huge amounts of beer tokens recommendation for gigging for anybody wanting a good solid clean sound and tone whilst watching the budget would be a squier P or J and a Hartke combo
6. well as much as im always ***hearting*** my yamaha, i must also confess to a soft spot for the squier P my mate Lee is giving the trb a much needed thorough setup at the moment and as i have a few rehearsals and a gig tomorrow her lent me his squier P put it through my harke with just the single 15 and left off the 4x10 - nice tone - a joy to play - in fact im totally gobsmacked - in fact im almost tempted to say it sounds better than my trb but maybe not quite but not far off
7. if you have access to a vice or clamps or similar tools you could try a home repair by removing the whole machine from the head and glueing the two pieces back together using a two pack epoxy resin metal glue - some of the epoxy glues are extremley strong and should hold this ok if you get a good alignment and glue fill
8. Crowbait clamouring Dark and hard Penned in, pack of lies Plaza yard Barefoot, blubbering 'What's your name?' Front fork buckled up Pump and chain Jo Burt picking a fretless P
9.
LOL, going to be fun for me "Hi, I'm looking to buy a bass" "Feel free to try a few out" "erm, i've never played one before."
isnt that what the sex pistols tried to kid us with all those years ago?
10. bugger and you lot are usually sooooooo easily distracted by yet another slapping thread oooh look over there .... shiny formula one
11. ok so youve finished work early to get down the music shop before they close for a quick slap are your chops improvised? or do you have any particular learnt lines that you like to dazzle and impress with?
12. X-LINES the one with the bright red jack covers - had it since about late 80s - still use it regularly and still ok
13.
Mr Beggs is also on my list of great bassists in, maybe, less than fashionable bands. Will be featuring him one week too.
just a thought .... Andy Pask
14. for my 2p worth .... rio is a great little showboat tune and on the other end of the scale would choose 'ordinary world' for subtle comparison - nice bass line and on the studio cut of the single one of the most beautiful sublimley simple guitar solos ever on a 'pop song' by the fantastic warren cuccurrullo as an aside for those unfamiliar with the talented mr cuccurrullo just in case you thought he might be just another sixstringer in a pop band .... (i get to include this cos it has some nice playing from nick beggs too)
15. i bought my trb6 in about 92-92 was about £1600 the from wapping bass centre - bright orange w/gold hardware - as good a finish and build quality as you will ever see from a factory built instrument! - one piece through neck has a very comfortable heel contour into the body - loved the pickups and the active eq really great if you like a massive fat bottom but personally preferred the sound from the piezo pickups quite a unique tone that you wont quite find on many other instruments and mixable into the regular pickups BUY BUY BUY!!! and if you dont buy then please post the fleabay link so i can have a butchers
16. Marvin - let us know your verdict when you get it - i got the 2500 head at moment which i run through a hydrive 410 and an xl 115 but am planning on upgrading the 115 to a hydrive115 and the head to the lh500 - all i can say is that am glad i went for hartke over trace and saved myself a shed load of beer tokens
17.
Back when I still bothered trying out basses in music shops, whenever this happened and the shop worker gave me his best Wooten/Kinger/Sheehan impression before giving me the bass, I'd play 4 notes and say "nah, don't like it" and hand it back to him.
youre not the only one - i just plonk a few notes on open strings sometimes i dont even bother with my left hand!! usually i like to hold the bass by one of the horns and then pluck the open e and open a and feel through the wood how it resonates - you can judge a surprising amount about an instruments sound qualities by just feeling how it resonates without plugging it in
18.
I'm one of those fools who put cred over comfort ... although I find it perfectly comfortable. (sorry it's late and I can't find an in focus (or recent) pic)
never mind the playing position - that is the coolest avatar pic on here!
19.
Currently having a few beers in Soho & will pop down to Denmark St. later.......will have a browse & see how there 'customer service' fairs......:; Angie
Angie are you going to go for the quiet and subtle and 'knowledgable' approach? or maybe instead try the over-keen inexperienced amateur approach with something like 'im thinking doing my hair purple and spiky for my new band and wondered if you had a bass that would go nicely with it .... AND keep a straight face oh and let us know the response
20.

are they black leather strings?
21. this is making me feel extremley old - owing to the fact that i saw them at Hull Uni in 1980 and jolly good they were too SECTOR 27 - (Jo Burt on fretless)
22. dirtyloops is good but just a couple of odd occasions where it seems like theyre throwing in just that little bit too much syncopation and trying to be too clever - and nobody likes a smarty pants do they but on the whole very slick and good technical playing all round - jolly well done 8/10 but anybody who can play bass like that with a straight face in their underpants takes the prize im afraid cardiacs win - no contest!
23. i like both types of music ... country AND western
24.
Ahh, I never said they were
i know you didnt i did!
