1.
So you have tried identical basses but for the woods involved and found that they sound considerably different? If so then you I defer to your more relevant experience.
i didnt say but for the woods - obviously there are other factors but why defer to my experience when you could have your own? one thing i can guarantee, is that it will be much more useful than us lot on here waffling all our pseudoscience
2. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/trb/?mode=series if its the bolt on neck, unless you desperately keen to get your hands on one then i personally would hold out to try and find the one piece thru neck - youll be glad you waited!
3. i really dont understand people who claim that the wood doesnt make a difference?- i just visited my local music emporium to try out half a dozen different J's (mixture of fender and squier) - ive decided on the cheapest squier there as i like the sound from it (and the price!) but even my cat could tell the difference in tone and sound quality between them

5. http://youtu.be/yOB7iI1rCPU folks would rather be at home being hypnotized by simon cowells sh*te than putting on their saturday best and getting out and partying edit: 'brainwashed' better than hypnotized!
6.
We went into our local poundshop the other day. They are now selling things at £1.50
is that like 'Poundshops Finest' range ?
7.
"My girlfriend is a really great singer, maybe she could sing a few songs with us or do some duets" "I've written a song" (From the drummer, obv)
RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY .....................
8.
Yes, incredible, but I found three guitarists who know when to shut up and don't need to use huge amounts of distortion. No, I can't believe it either, but if it's a dream, don't wake me up!
nope sorry dont believe you must be a dream! next youll be asking us to believe youve got a keyboard player that doesnt want to fiddle about and fill in all the empty quiet gaps
9.
I found this on youtube, Beverley Knight doing Cuddly Toy soul style. What a stomper of a tune just played along about 8 times, put a massive smile on my face, what a voice, shame she has never got the credit she deserves. http://youtu.be/FjgF-9WryAg
i like her but she seems to attract as many detractors as she does fans - my only reply to them is 'this is the lady who had chaka khan sing her backing vocals'
10. after having two trb's i would deffo say there is a difference in tone with the 35 although my current trb is one of the bolt on necks and whilst the open e and a are quite nice they are not as clear as on the original series trb5/trb6 - if you get hold of trb5/trb6 with the through neck you will definitely hear the improved clarity of the low b and it is playable too and not at all a bit flubby like some low b's
11. a couple already mentioned but here goes... helmut hattler - kraan billy cox - band of gypsys leigh gorman - bow wow wow andy pask - landscape joe burt - sector 27 steve currie - t.rex patrick o'hearn - zappa carmine rojas - bowie mick karn - japan kasim sulton - utopia arthur barrow - zappa darryl jones - miles davis, rolling stones
12. used to have this on cassette tape - went to my local music emporium (sound and image in chatham thoroughly recommended) to treat myself to a cd copy dig out your old kaftan and turn on all the lava lamps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_tgfWBHdig
13. thanks for the replies will check this evening - also just remembered - noticed it more since i restrung it last week but my string application is always consistent as dictated my bordeline ocd!
14. just had a wee set up - tweak of the truss rod , saddles etc and nut filed down as was waaay to high now have a really strange noise coming from my open D - not so much a buzz more a whine - its a really strange high pitch harmoinc type noise that is a loud enough to be noticeable and disonnant enough to be irritating! the saddles all seem fairly settled so my only guess is possible from the nut end - indeed listening to the bass acoustically it does seem to come more from that end is it possible for nut groove string seating to cause this sort of thing? anybody any experience? i have a spare piece of nut bone but would prefer not the expense of having new nut set in place and set up but if needs must i guess ta muchly
15. this especially when the main riff kicks in at 00:30
16.
#11 Stay sober
anybody see the santana documentary recently on bbc4 - they had done so much acid at woodstock and were unexpectedly called on to do their set earlier than planned and he described how he was trying to concentrate on his solo whilst also trying to stop the guitar neck from squirming about
17. if its jedward leave the basses at home and just take something heavy with a nice sharp corner
18.
I'm not such a fan of Jason, but I do have one of his plectrums at home (somewhere?!) if any fans here are interested in paying ca$h for it
i have a bobby rondinelli drumstick ! silly ar5e just lobbed it into the crowd - could have taken somebodys eye out tsk
19. if its DUKE MILLLER SANBORN then 27 quid is bargain of the year
20. i would have told them i couldnt possibly comment because i havent a clue who this cliff burton is - as for trujillo i only know his infectious grooves stuff long before the pair of them were even at big school and have never heard any of the metallica RT stuff- hes good but i think the reputation of the bass of doom will surpass him given time if i get bored later and there is bugger all worth watching on the idiot lantern i might search the tinterweb for mr burton
21.
+1 to this. If you can't sit down then do NOT stand still! Also, be careful of wearing back supports (the athletic types, usually made of neoprene) or even wide leather belts ... they feel like they're helping to "support" you when you first put them on - which seems logical - but in practice they extend the problem IME.
i disagree - some of the neoprene ones are soft enough that they dont give any significant amount of support (at least not to a seventeen stone lump like me) but more importantly i find they keep your back nice and warm which helps mobility and circulation - on occasions where it has really locked up ive used a heavy weight training belt for very short term support whilst waiting for the diazepam and voltarol to kick in still aching form saturday night gig lugging a 1x15 and 4x10 in and out the pub - i like the sound from my hartke rig but its a bugger with a bad back and im very envious of my mates markbass 500w rig that is in comparison two little boxes about the size of fag packets - we did put them side by side to compare - the volume is there but you just dont seem to get the same degree of air movement from two 1x12s - so i will probably only resort to a micro rig if the back pain becomes too much to haul the bigger stuff around
22. this is rather nice too with manu katche
