2. on my right hand which does the plinky plinky thing i recently noticed i play with my little finger sticking out - i do tend to use my a a lot as well as my i and m edit - haha i dint spot the post above on my tiny little screen - not just me then - maybe we should start up a forum support thread
 3. just a further edit/bump to clarify the repair on the pic above you can see a largish cylindrical silver eletrolytic capacitor - this is the item which failed due to age and to me inadvertently loading it up with 9v battery direct without bringing up to voltage slowly - this component has been replaced with a new capacitor of the same rating/value. my friend who is the electronic engineer responsible for the repair has told me that the function of this particlar capacitor is to regulate and smooth the power supply from the battery - consequently it has no function as part of the amp/tone circuitry and does not affect the sound at all the part was probably ok but was possibly damaged by me inadvertently just by plugging a 9v battery in to test the unit - it should ideally have been loaded up with a very low voltage and stepped up very slowly over several hours back to its operational voltage - something to do with the capacitor losing all its charge and polarity when left in storage without being used for a very long time i dont have a six string thing any more but tested it using my squier J and trace boxer65 and it is in full working order ta

 6. do you still have the piece that became detached? a careful application of decent wood glue and clamping carefully in place and then cosmetic retouching afterwards should not be too problematic as long as the detached section is in one piece?
 7.
So, who is secretly going to learn a slap party piece for the day
would love to go to this but the cynic in me is already saying RUN AWAAAAAY

 10.
Scott Thunes on Dupree's Paradise from Make a Jazz Noise Here. 65 P Bass, played with a pick, some chorus into a Trace I think.
personally i prefer the original rendition of the picked P bass (but neither are my favourite zappa bassist but thats a whole different thread!) 12. patrick o'hearn's bass tone imho is up alongside jaco himself check out the interplay from 4:15 its rather good
 13. only 80% the guitarist/leader of the band i am in has the most well worn capo in the northern hemisphere
 14. we recently did a little gig at local pub and just for a change we threw in a bossa version of teenage kicks went straight over everyones head - like we became the invisible band for 3 minutes - it amused us though
 15.
He sounded pretty much the same at the Dublin gig a few months ago.
maybe he has developed a cunning vocal technique of emulating the auto-tune i saw them on the permanent waves tour at hammersmith odeon and thought they were great but then i was young and impressionable
 16.
This put me off. Geddy is struggling to reach the high notes these days. I'd rather remember them as they were.
not being a studio tech expert but...does anybody else get the same impression as me that the fluctuations in the voice (especially the SOR clip) sound like auto-tune struggling to track correctly ?
 17. me too even if he does think he's turned into snoop snoopy dogg dog these days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9fHHqTZGhQ
 18. i only have the two so you have the one plus one for backup principle - number one bass is the trb which i use for bright big sound number two bass i purposely went out and bought a squier jazz to use for all the older motown/soul/stax type stuff - you can roll off all the top from the trb but its still not quite the same as a jazz with a set of 'mellowed' strings there is another bonus too - if you have a 35 and do all your practice on that, it will feel like a walk in the park when you then do it on a 34
 19. first - shaftesbury les paul go to - trb yours - trb
 20. did you check if htere is any standard level of cover with TNT automatically included? i use UKMail through my business and all deliveries with them are insured up to £500 with incremements available above that if necessary for more valuable items
 21.
Being French, I don't think he'd get the underlying sarcasm of "widdly"
any fluent french speakers please provide me with a nice idiomatic translation - ty
 22.
As a massive Fender fan I think Fender got it really wrong. The recession kicked in, people are struggling so they jacked the prices right up. My most modern bass is late 80s now so it doesn't directly affect me but it was a poor move
theyre not the only ones - when the recession fired up a couple of years ago my first thoughts were 'great i should be able to get a few good photographic bargains only to discover that Canon had massively hiked their RRP's '
