Youre welcome... For starters in the future think... 1. Straightforward = Schaller 2. Straightforward and some slightly off the wall = Hipshot 3. Straightforward and some even more off teh wall = Gotoh... Then copies and one offs.... -
Not close enough you bad bad boy.....

Servisol +1. -
Not getting involved in the gay/straight thing, as both gay boys+ girls and stright boys and girls play P +Js so its kinda irrelevant (if not faintly amusing....!) P for me as I have big butch manly hands and I cant get on wiv ickle J necks!
Michael Manring's PRS hardly sounded swampy on his first album. What have you done to it Bob?
Urrrrhmmmmm Swampy refers to the SWAMP ASH from which its made....

They look like Grover copies.... http://www.grotro.com/Mainbass%26pedal.html But what they actually are --- difficult to say... I guess fairly inexpensive! -
Smash, mine has Lace sensors and they are hotter than a RS Cosworth Escort in Liverpool....! I've found with mine that they pick up dirty appliance transmission very well... FAR too well! it just sounds crap at my house, but at my guitarists place where we jam and practice it sounds well....... lovely like I guess it should...! I wouldnt dream of gigging mine as its more a collectors piece.... turn down the EQ or just try using the P+J or both Js.... make sure you have a good lead too, that made a difference with mine!

Ooooooh another late starter..... 2 tips. 1. get 2 books i) 101 bass tips by Hal Leonard and ii) teach yourself bass guitar- step one DVD editioon. 2. When you know how to hold it the right way up and not poke your eye out with it... get a few lessons... Then try to keep up the sight reading but flog yourself to death with scales and arpeggios and pick up basslines by listening to them.... Worked for me.
There is a lot of snobbery amongst the kids, the worst offenders for gear snobbery are the ones that know and have done the least.
Thats not snobbery thats ignorance....! Snobbery is KNOWING that something cheaper is just as good as a XXX but buying XXX anyway because it has a name..... I'm not a snob. I believe you get what you pay for, to a degree! I normally buy the best QUALITY that I can afford and therein lies the rub- who decides what quality is? Persoanlly I feel thats very subjective, I know waht quality feels and sounds like to me.... To someone else it maybe utter 5hite.... I know for a fact that Ped would hate my swampy PRS as it sounds dull and definatly not twangy, but I love that sound! So for me having watched lots of bands and played a bit of bass now, I prefer to assess what the sound is like and work out what it is that makes it that way.... It could be a cheap and ugly Squire or a very expensive Sei..... makes no difference to me.

Well it looks like a Gibson SG copy so it could one of lots of makers.... if it plays well enjoy it for what it is....

Havent got an Urge but have got a 40th Anni P, thats P/J and active and its noisey if you overload the preamp. With the preamp on (yours isnt switchable is it?) anything past 1/2 way is boosting the signal and 1/2 way is the detent position. Here its fine... but it took me a while to find that out.... if I whack all the pots up full it humms like a wasps nest..... Have you tried that by any chance?
I GIVE UP.... People, if you PM me and say "I'll definitely have it", please don't then say "oh, did I say definitely, I meant only if I sell my MIM Jazz for £900 on ebay" or "only if you'll take a cheque made out on a Nigerian account". For f**ks sake..
La la la.... I'm not listening...!
It doesn't take a gang of Precisions to kick a Jazz's backside. It goes something like this: Gang of Jazzes: "We're gonna beat you up Mr Precision" Lone Precision: "Hardly fair sides is it, five of you, one of me? You might need to go and get some of your friends"
tee hee...... Wont find me arguing with that!

http://www.thomann.de/gb/phil_jones_flightcase_bg150.htm Both Superb VFM, will blow your windows out if you need too and the Roland will give you all the effects without pedals!

So, I've just been watching TOTP2 and it was on the 80's and whilst it was really a 'kinda goin' nowhere new' decade musically (with the exception of Hip-hop) it did spawn some freaky hardware..... So come on B-chatters, what is your most freaky decade for basses and why? Me...? Bootsy... need I say more?
