BRX, OMG were we that scarey back then ('81-'83).....? I must admit even I was worried (and I was 'in' with the local crowd) when a couple of MOFOs came in one evening "looking" for another 'club' member who had welched on them. Both these guys had guns and were not shy about letting us see them..... Anyhoo.. I'm not sure trying one of my PRSs is a good idea..... Getting GAS for an aquirable and affordable Fender is one thing..... GASing for PRSs is another league all together (and almost takes on a Zen like mindset and borader on unhealthy obsession!) and competition might just push me over the edge.....

Sold within 90secs of posting.... new record for me and top bloke to boot! A1+

Ultimately its up to Kev how much he sells it for. Unless he has broken some sort of agreement that he shouldnt buy somethng and then move it on (which I doubt very much would stand scrutiny of lawyer) then its his to do with as he wishes. Its not up to others to judge if he's right or wrong to do it. ANYTHING is only worth what someone id prepared to pay for it, if he can get more then good luck to him but please stop flaming him for trying.

Axes r us is only in Hull you could pop across. They have wiring kits too (not sure about P bass) and more electrical components tan you could shake a stick at. They also have some dellightful black pearl 3ply SP material that might look pretty good.

I may pop across on the bike for an hour or two, it wouldnt seem right going to the Grosvenor on anyting other than a bike.... (history!) Whilst that means no gear- if the last bash was ought to go by there'll be so much gear there you cant move..... I'll make a donation to the raffle too!

Uuuuurrrrhmmmm question ...... My Ovation Viper..... Only to be played under rocks and movement ony during sunlight hours? Does that allow me to sink my teeth into anyone that doesnt appreciate it?
-
Its not unusual (sounds like a song!) to have one or two strings out the ordinary.... You may have a rogue set, but did you pre-stretch them as you put them on? (my guess is yes) Also are they an odd set with not the usual guages? (have you measured them?) only A and G look squiffy.... Does it sound ok?

Yet another "recognize this bass?" thread. Help appreciated :D

The original AEB-1 (AUB-1 Fretless) was made between 1966-69 was made in white, sunburst or Red... VERY RARE. They also did a re-run between 1997-2000 called AEB-2 (AUB-2) in Black Natural and Sunburst. Not so rare but very hard to find for sale. Good ones will fetch £1500 plus. The Blue book may not be brilliant for UK guitar history but it is for stuff made teh other side of teh pond. -
I say that hangs well ..... I 'spose I'd better get around to doing the same for my warriors..... If the weathers good again tomoro I'll do my pics....
There is an automotive parallel that works pretty well, actually - Fender and Harley-Davidson. You get to pay lots of money for the badge, it's mainly made outside the US, you have to stick aftermarket stuff on it to make it perform somewhere round a tenth as well as other manufacturers' stuff, on the rare occasion when they bring out a radical departure from the original, all the current owners hate it, and the noise from them is really irritating. Oh, and the owners dress funny too.
And of course Triumph owners dont have a stereotype do they......?
The fan at the front of my SVT-CL is a bit noisy (I know this is quite normal) but I was wondering if there’s any way I can change it for a silent fan cos it can be a bit annoying. Does anyone know how/if it could be done and what fan I should use?
You should think yourself lucky that your fans are making a nuisance of them selves, I'm lucky if they stop drinking thier pints noramlly!

Id say somewhere between 400-500 as a starting point depending on desirabilty and condition. A LOT less if its a Lyte... Less it has a dubious history or looks battered. Maybe more if its unusual. MIJs tend to be pretty well made.

Tina Weymouth or Suzie Quatro For me......

I've a couple of padded Franklins But my most comfortable ones are the PRS ones-- Its like wearing silk pants.

I do.... (and thank you!) and No, its not a Gothic thing.... it just looks right on light wood.... Dontcha think?

So its ready.... 3.8kg-- -- so its light!!! and well balanced for a P (no neck dive). It sounds really warm and spot on bluesy. The Barts don't take much to push the valves in to overdrive... and then its sounds one mean motherf**ker... I wanted to hate it so I can sell it but its good, the necks really chuffin good. My partner says its louder than the Ovation, it isnt but it sure vibrates plates in the kitchen... Its not PRS good but good enough to be a keeper and use! Enjoy.....

Pics shortly..... just taking some..... Prepare yourselves....... Its mean an' moody......

Better idea in a curly twurly mid 70's Bickenracker kinda way.....

B_F ..... I dont think he (my guitarist) was that serious! we play as a 2 piece (with drum machine) or we get a pet drummer occasionally.... I feel he is more interested for him as he loves odd quirky stuff that stretches him and with my 4 chord repetoire on 6 string I certainly dont think I'll be getting one. 7-S. I can see it doesnt conform to what we know as ERB but having never seen one before I wondered what the populace thought of it.... Judging by the response so far its a huge NIL POINTS from BC then....
Problem:I swapped the pups on my Squier P5 Special for Seymour SJB5s.The originals were crap 4-pole jobs which were useless for the job.Next I picked up a LEGEND J bass off the Bay for £25,(neck was u/s).Put new neck on, and now find that the pups on the Jazz are at least twice as powerful as the Seymours, in a 1to1 comparison.I would have expected the SDs to be the better of the two,if not just in tone, but in power(ie volume) as well.Maybe I'm wrong, but I welcome any comments.
Define powerful...? SDs are in my experience pretty hot pups. Did you rewire the rest of Squier? Change pots or other components?
