Jake, Love the song, like the arrangement, agree with the others about the vox, and somehow it all sounds a bit too "clean" (maybe clinical) if that makes sense..... cant quite put my finger on it - and I'm not an expert and maybe you'll end up with that mix, but playing around with a bit more, cant hurt can it?
I use IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) from good ol' Maplin. They call it Electronic Cleaning Solvent and it goes for about £10 per litre can. I use it to clean the URB strings in situ once a week.
Excellent Octane booster for sad wilting hi- perfromance cars that require 98 to run properly 100 to go well (MR2 Turbo e.g) NNNnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Oddly enough.... those that went to the last bash will know there was some very trick stuff there..... Know what I enjoyed playing with the most....? One of Silverfoxniks BC Riches... All black beaut.....Real class.
Hope you've got yours insured?
Nik, Indeed. I also have a dog thats not keen on strangers, and a varied and healthy arsenal of firearms....

My apols guys I forgot BC Rich off my list - Some lovely examples above! Dont Warwick make a Warlocky kinda bass too? The Vampyre I'l bet that rocks

Contact Dood, he has been known to dabble ...... as has Bloodaxe. They both use a variety of weaponry.... no particular bass has a "metal" sound but a lot of basses can be made to fit in.... Are you talking Trash? Grunge or Trad heavy rock? they all have slighty different sounds. ESP DEAN IBANEZ All make basses that are favoured by Heavy players, but Lemmy (Motorhead) plays a Rickenbacker....... And lots of guys play Fender..... See the problem here?
Didn't realise that PRS don't make any basses now.. That's a real oversight on their part!! Do you mean Special Edition by the initials SE? If so, how about 'The Burpster Bass' by PRS.. It's got a ring to it!
Nik..... ooooh I wish... Last run of basses made by Mr Smith was 2001-2004 (the PRS IV) of which I have 2 (nearly had 3 but got ripped off to the tune of £850 ) of 495.... Thats equal to a fender limited run... SE (Student Edition) is the made in Korea series, which have US QC but made in PRoK not in Stevensville. The custom shop (PRS call it Private Stock) options of buying a new IV are available but at $6k to place an order, is way beyond me for a playing instrument. I just feel lucky to have 2. They really are exceptional.
"I use roundwound strings, and I keep them real dirty. I’m always hesitant to put on new strings. Whenever I do, it always sounds awful, so I end up rubbing some grease into them. I’ll get some French fries or ham or rub anything with grease onto the strings until I can rid them of that awful tone." Never a truer word said. I f@cking hate bright sounding basses. Makes my ears bleed.
Errrm is this in teh right place? it dont make sense to me?
But then, I wouldn't want to take anything away from Mr Smith...
Nik, I shouldnt think for one min that Paul does all his own research, but he does have a pretty good team around him... My guess would be that as PRS is (in the scheme of things) a fairly young company that any collusion with another "outside" patentable name would have to be mentioned...... i.e. "developed in conjunction with BL etc......" ????? In other parts of PRS history where someone outside the company has helped with development of a product credit is given..... It would be interesting to know if anyone else that 'did' work for the Co. when they made the basses is no longer there..... Another interesting point for me is ...... When are they going to make more basses? I feel an SE bass is looming somewhere but they never confirm or deny anything......

Excellent finish quality but it looks like the bastard child of Steve Vai JEM, a slightly pointy nosed Pbass and a Parker fly Unique? certainly....
Great looking bass.. What are the pick ups on it, only they look like a Bill Lawrence design?
I'm pretty sure Mr Smith will be well miffed by that..... To quote PRS history.... "2 PRS high inductance passive pickups (v/v/t with high end switchable audio pre-amp)" There was a lot (apparently) of development went into those pups... and a F***ing good job they did to! (although that development may have been done by BL I somehow doubt it!) In fact the whole electrics are very yummy!

Using your definition, then yes I do with this one.... My frist 'proper' bass and the one by whhich all else is judged. So far nothing has come near it. Whatever I try 'new' I coming back to this one is like going back to the house that you grew up in.... Just makes you feel relaxed and like you were 'meant to be'.!

Hummmnnn good point- we dont have a software forum.... Its more Misc than guitars tho'---- interesting stuff.....

Anybody actually got a Peterson Strobostomp? I have really bad GAS for one (which means I'll end up with one!) it looks SH1t loads better than the BOSS analogue I"m using.....

I believe its potentially even more confusing than that. Nut width and string spacing is what is important for your brain to work out where the notes are (muscle memory). Neck proflies and depth are how the rest or your hand relates to your fingers and the fret board. If you have kept the same nut width but changed the profile that'll be why your getting cramps; your hand and wrist havent adjusted to the shallower neck. I find shallower necks (modern P profile) but the same nut width and spacing very comfortable but find I am way more accurate on a slightly deeper more D shaped neck (Ovation and PRS). Getting engrossed in one type of Fender based on what the neck should be, could be very confusing as they (Big F) have a habit of changing profiles and neck width like the wind..... Beedster is pretty up there on what teh profiles are there are a couple of other fenderheads that can tell you the diemensions of th 4 different types of neck..... My advice FWIW is if you like teh bass try it.... dont write it off because it SHOULD have a XXX neck.... you could be pleasently surprise.

My guess is that to do it by ear with no referance is an excellent skill if you either have perfect pitch, or incredible memory for tones... I tune using the 12 harmonic and 7th fret method- for practice. But if I play with someone else I use a tuner. as for turning down your offer, sounds like an exhibitionsit to me.... Besides what does he do if he goes out of tune during a set?

What is the difference between a jazz and precision bass?
The Burpster replied to Kleng77's topic in Bass Guitars
Pretty straightforward really. If you play random notes, with no musical sense whatsoever, and just make a dreadful tuneless din, then that's jazz, so you'd use a Jazz bass. If on the other hand you play the right notes, in the right place, at the right time, that's playing with precision, so you'd use a Precision bass.
Thats one of the funniest thngs I've read in ages! -
I'm going with my mate and guitarist (same person) I lost all my friends as soon as started moderating on here!
Anyone know what the standard is for an Aria ProII? I realise it's not very specific, but it's late 80s I think, all black with gold writing on the headstock. Actually, that's just stupid, i'll post again when I have the model number and checked the jack socket.
If you are struggling PM Bloodaxe he has few of these, an he luurves them....
