1. KD, I was gonna put that but you beat me to it....... Actaully at least sh1te implies that its processed remnents of something better at one time..... Not sure that could be said about that ........ The funniest thing is the starting bid.......
2. More importantly show us a pic of teh other side of the head and more we will be able to tell you! young padwan!
3.
JOB DONE ....Im such a clever boy. done it myself and im well impressed.
Uh oh, thats another hooked....!
4. Why do you think you've done the wrong thing? if that P that you've bought is anywhere near 1/2 decent it will be a known factor.... Retro fitting the S1 (if you can easily source the parts, which it sounds like you can) is a doddle. So the only deviation from your original idea is the colour..... Black is the best colour fo P basses..... Give it a few weeks and I'll post what you can do, starting out with a Black MIA P...... (yep I'm doing one!) BTW will you want a chrome Badass for you newbie? I'll have one spare soon....!
5.
This thread could go on forever. IMHO a bass is worth what someone will pay at the time you want to sell it. There are no rules whatsoever, not even of thumb C
Best £400 I've spent yet!
6. Saw the Washburn todaay and if I hadnt just bought a stonking Ovation from Beedster I'd have had that. its even better in the flesh! Well worth 200 sobs.
7. Thanks to all that went and lent support. Big thanks to Ped for selling tickets.. Lots of patience that man! great to meet those of you that I did get chance to, and sorry I left early (thoat infection got the better of me). Big up to those wot organised it and great time had by all ( well me anyway!)
8.
It's not really that serious, just surface stuff. I shied away from AG, mainly because when I go at my car with it it can give nasty swirls, also I thought Silicone was bad... What sort of finish do you end up with?
Just be careful with it.... Swirls? what you doing with it? Finish like this:-
9. Looking good!!! Beedster should be there too as he has a little something for me to pick up.... _ ________________________________________________________________________________ That sneeky Beedster has a little something for me too....... So he'd better be going!
10. For serious dings and wear I use Auto-glym (car stuff avaialbe from Halfords) paint renovator and then super resin polish. (For a regular polish I use PRSs own polish. ) What you have left you can use on your car!
11. Anybody going to the BB tomoro thats taking a wodge of cash that would like me to bring this to try?
12. It depends abit on the finish and which type of paint/lacquer it is!! What guitar is it?
13. How very very odd.!
14. Thats an understatement..... and this is after hes cleaned it up!
15. +1 for Shergolds not being on this list.... They are certainly an acquired taste aesthetically, and in this day of techno widgets are quite a way behind..... Well built they certainly are. Loved and championed by said Genesis player they defianately were.... What they arent is massively expensive to get hold of, the opportunities are rare tho'. I guess it would help if you defined 'crap' bass? I'd define it as an intsrument with poor QC that wont set up to play, made of poor materials and cheap electrics. In which case there is no good ones let alone a best in catagory.... In the real world, you cant really say that, as I'm sure out there are some sub £100 basses that set up and play very well, and some expensive ones that don't......
16. Astronomer.... that sounds ideal....!
17. I guess it depends what your idea of cheap is? With my (albiet limited) experience of accoustics the cheaper they are, the less satisfying they are to play and own! Which in my eyes defeats the object of what you want.... Its gotta be an instrumant that you want to pick up and play surely? From what I've seen so far, I'd say the Ibanez range are the cheapest that play 1/2 well!
18. Off to tech land.....
19. A "bump passed all the newbies avioding fleebay fees!" bump!
20. "seen a few bars"......? Looks like its been thrown out of few.....
21. And I thought Fender QC was suspect......... I'll eat Gordon Browns pants if they get 10k for that !
22. To date it has to be this PRS. My other one isn't quite as nice sonically. Whenever I get fed up I play this one. If they all had to go this is the one I'd keep.
23. Welcome to an exclusive club...... I think you'll find it pleases sir!
24. Its probably a fullsize Warwick with Steve (CK) in the foreground!
25. There you have the answer... 1981 Blazer in v.good conditon....£300 Schaller catalogue parts £200 Clean set up and service, fit new parts and rewire (in hours) £100 Mojo, of a piece of history that can kick the ass of modern pretenders------ Priceless
