4. Hopefully someone nr "a small town in Wales" will come to the rescue... Shame your not near here, I'd have done it for you.
5. They make Dannii and Kylie look a bit sad dont they?
6.
I don't think that was ever in doubt
Indeed Chris, my thoughts exactly...... As someone once said to me (when I was having a blonde day) "someone needs to pop back to bass recognition school, for some revision!"
7. If you are fairly handy you could easily repair this with automotive or good quality wood filler. The refin is then a case of getting good quailty auto touch up paint that matches exactly then building up in layers unitl you can wet and dry it flat and polish it. The fact that you've asked for help 'suggests' that you may struggle with this. Whilst I agree a luthier would sort it for you, it may cost as much as the bass is worth.... Especially if they suggest a whole refin is the only way to go. Your profile doesn't let us know where you are, which is a shame. If you were nearby I'd have a pop at it for you, I need a new project. Again if it turned out 5hite I would make a pickguard for it, which I could do anyway but would need the whole bass to get the dimensions. What problems do you have with teh neck?
8. Agreed ^, it would make a difference which way 'round you put them tho'. And can also make a difference if you dont run 'em, in series... I'm going to try more experiments with the H1 after I pick it up next weekend!
9. Aaaaahhhhh now if reading is your thing..... try this...! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guitar-Player-Repa...9212&sr=8-3 possibly the best £16 you'll spend...!
10. 133 views and not a single comment? She's getting sad that noone wants to give her a new home!
11. Sounds good..... Do you have the neck really straight? I'd be inclined to try a tad more relief too! Waht do you have it set at now? Thinking about it, one of my guitarists Strats did this a little, we added a few thou' more relief and it cured it!
12. Custom or not, that is one pretty mama!
13. In the abscence of any info in your profile so we dont know where you are (amybe one of us cuold help you) I have to agree with paulc above. I tried some pretty cack stuff in shops just to figure out what they are like. My technique is not amazing either, however I have yet to come across what you describe.
14. Deep thought is correct. Contact Yamaha UK and let them know you have lost a nut for it. I'm pretty confident that they'll just send you one. They are pretty standard. You will need to undo teh neck to put it in and then you will find out if you have a problem. The fact that teh bass is still capable of being played suggests to me that it will be OK...! Please do not apologise for your english, its much better than my Italian... ! Chiao.
15. I think I'll move this to repairs an tech... meybe someone there works on fretless Yams more oftetn than me...
16. That looks like the truss rod. The end of which should have a nut with a metric hex head socket in it- in which your allen key would fit. It looks to me like the nut has fallen off and is missing. This does not mean the bass is 'broken' but merely that there is a part missing. Although even with the hi res pics I still cant be 100% sure.
17. Hummmm, part of Fenders global market control strategy eh? Lets see how long it is before Jap retaillers start offering them for sale. Fender is being a wee bit arrogant methinks....
18. Having bought its replacement, may Blazer project would now like a new home. Below link shows its history. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4324&hl=teaser Latest additiions are Rotos (although the D'addario chromes will come with it) and te Clover string tree. To include, set of Schaller strap locks and te orignal used but completly functional HSC. £400 or the nearest offer. Please-- no trades-- as I have too many now. Am going to the BB next weekend if anyone with a serious offer wants to try it. SOLD Thanks Pete!
19. OK, So now I'm wondering, is the string making the 12 fret when you are fretting the 13th? If so it could be a high fret or more likely you have worn an indent on the bottom of teh string at the 23 & 14th frets and this makes it lower. So, when you fret at the required fret the space between the bottom of the string and teh fret below (12th) is reduced to nothing and it is effectively being fretted as both sides of you finger.... Does that make sense?
20. Well going on what you've said so far, your two criteria are at opposite poles..... You say you want something 1/2 decent but you wont spend more than £100 or you dont like its shape. You cant have your cake and eat it. You either get something you can build from and make a reasonable instrument OR you get something you like, and you may have to pay more. If you want a Fender P shape that isnt going to be a pile of poo, you will have to start at Squire or Vintage. Could be OK but just as likely to be cack.
21. Yamaha RBX 170.... perfect for what you want.... Mine went thru several Morphs before I let somelse have to learn with !
22. More responses in the 'tech head' section will be forthcoming....!
23. More like..... WISH (i'd never seen it) BASS I actually feel a little queezy........
