1. it would appear that only thing he owns with 4 anything is his cats and they have 4 feet! All I can say is that I hope he's well insured or has a huge dog as well as the pussies!
2.
Not quite sure where we go from here?
Well first thing I'd do is get that sneaker exctracted from the heel strap button on pic 3..... I'm sure that will effect the action and or tone!
3. I thought it was time to post my team of players up. First up the Stevensville 2. PRS EB IVs one on swamp ash and the other, ash body with a flame maple 10 top. Then the Corona 3some. Fender P 40th Anni, My H-1P Frankenfender, and the Ovation Viper. (Ovation are now owned by the big F) Enjoy.
4. Did you buy it Jobie... It went for a good price... Not brill but good.
5.
so...you've got that kind of arrangement eh ?
Your mind sir, is a filthy debauched place....!
6. Realy the only way is to get a very narrow center punch down the hole to the top of the screw. Punch it and then drill it carefully and then use a stud extractor..... VERY time consuming to do it right. Failing that, Drill them out MUCH larger (say 3mm or so) and plug teh hole with 3mm dowel. finish teh top of teh dowel so that when re-finished you cant tell the plugs are there.
7. *subliminal message alert* DO THE BLACK KNOBS AND SCREWS AND LEAVE IT!
8. Despite being labelled Fender they are Schaller liteweights (BML). Contact Touchstone Tonewoods http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ Who are the UK importer of Schaller and I'm sure they'll be able to help you.... (i'd be surprised if you get anything out of Fender TBH!)
9. Mine cringes when I practise plugged in..... tolerates me playing silently (Thank god for Tascam and Boss micro).... Laughs out loud at my 'bass face'..... BUT Goes all mushy when I play with my guitarist..... That makes it all worth while!
10.
Great! Thanks for that. The Apeiron h4 / h5 have just triggered a monumental GAS attack. To make matters worse, BassDirect (whose site I'd not previously visited) also sell Vigier.... NOOOOoooooo!
tee hee......
11.
Hi there, Just a general query i'm considering upgrading the pickups and tuners on my highway 1 p bass.Did you also choose to do this? and do you know of a direct replacement tuner, they seem to be smaller that the std gotoh tuners on my old p-bass? Cheers Neil
N, replacing pups is a doddle if you know the hot end of a soldering iron from the other.... If you look at mine http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18771 you'll see the only 3 parts that are original H1 are the neck, neck bolts and body.... Yes I replaced all of the rest! The Hipshots I bought because they are Ultra lights, and I wanted a matching D-tuner, ( I dont like neck heavy fenders) altough Hipsot do direct replacements... H1, 2+3 http://www.hipshotproducts.com/cart.php?m=...ct_list&c=2 so do Schaller..... BM +BMFL http://bass-machine-heads.com/hp38538/Bass...a02909455XY3a86 so do Gotoh ..... http://bass-machine-heads.com/hp38538/Bass...a02909455XY3a86 Thers a few others but those 3 are the best. Pickups is a whole differnt subject and there are loads of threads in repair and tech on teh subject.....
12. Do you not like this one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DAISY-ROCK-HEARTBREA...1QQcmdZViewItem

16. Like back lines and car engines you can never have enough power in your soldering iron! http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...amp;dir=catalog
17. The Avenger 5 is wonderful.... I'm just waiting to see what the Fender P 5 is like and then it'll be one of those 2 on my christmas list....
18. Its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it...... 800-900 is normal.... I missed up on a '78 model with a commisioned PRS neck and the original for 675 in the US about a year ago... I've taken myself outside and beaten myself within an inch of my life several times for that moment of stupidity! Twhat a wat!
19. Jon, Indeed, but sadly they've ended up being worth Jack sh1t.....! My guitarist was `GASing for one real bad..... (a 6 string) ended up bying an original with history in mintish knick for £275..... it was a pig to set up for him but does sound quite nice...!
20.
Looking at the exact list of requirements, you'll struggle to tick ALL those boxes.
The Clover does Alex......
21. Oh and aonther..... "my first post is an advert thus cutting out ebay fees!"
22. Gallery is a shop in Lunnun tarn..... (very good shop too!) H 1s are excellent VFM .....but beware the finish is Nitro cellulose and an is thin so it WILL wear and dink.... it was put on to do this so it looks 'road used' very quickly. Just so your aware of that! I have an H 1 P http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18771 which I really had no intent to keep once I had done the project.... HOWEVER And this is a big however, its bl88dy superb now I've done it.... Dont get me wrong it was very good before (for what it cost) but now its something else... My advice FWIW, get he H1 and use it as a platform, a begining, Gensis if you will and dont be afraid to upgrade it when the funds are available.... I guarentee you, you will not be dissapointed, and you will genuinely notice the difference for your efforts.
