1.
I'm new to the bass and didn't spend too much cash on gear, just in case it wasn't for me. I have to say now though that I love it and will no doubt want to upgrade to better equipment in the future. I would like your opinion. Do get what you pay for? Would a Fender P bass, for example, be worth the extra cash than my Squier P bass, will it sound, play better do you think? Any feedback will be welcome. Thanks.
Yes and no depending on how much you spend. If you get a US or Jap P, then you will definately notice a difference. Teh quality of components will be better and teh wood will be better. You should be able to get a 1/2 decent sound out of your Squire and it should be capable of being set up properly....but is it worth the extra money? only you know that... What you ought to be thinking rather than straight squire fo Fender upgrade, is:- "is there a better bass out there for my kind of music and tehcnique" There are literally hundreds of different types of bass.....
2. Hummmmmn Blu-tac parties..... Do you snort, toke or mainline.....!?
3. I guess it depends on condition and spec... do you know more than that ? if not, only ball park figures are all youre gonna get....
4. Nice one and welcome to the 'Highway gang!'
5.
Quiet WH! Any more slips of the tongue like that and I'll have to don the disguise and give you a damn good thrashing. Anyway, I'm back from the land of the burger and have been spending a lot of time cuddling my bass, gosh how I missed it. And yes Basschat is full of good people, it's a great place to be.
Great to know your back and safe, my mate was in theater at the sam time as you and I'm pleased he's back.... relieved too actually!
6. My basses (with the excption of that girly Anni P) are WAAAaaaaaaayyyyyy too butch to be girls... Now maybe if they had skinny necks and were white....
7. Spychal wait 'til it gets there and take some proper pics for us to look at. Your not talking about your lifes savings here so all maybe not lost. £200 isnt a huge amount unless its a 2nhd squire or other replica. IF and thats intended to be a big IF it has any Fender parts on it then its actually a good deal! MAKE SURE teh perosn your buying from KNOWS your going to be sending it back and expecting a ful refund if tis not what he says it is.. Bob.
8. TDS, they are pretty cool.. I like....!
9. I wouldnt have rusty washers from the BC if they gave them to me.... No clue, whatso ever!
10. Blu- tack... Awesome.... Thank bejayzuz it wasnt the truss rod that went!
11. Phew...... That really is blu tack?
12. She'll be along in a min...!
13. It isnt what it used to be..... Its bigger, Brighter, Funnier, More open, More gear, More bassists, More controversy (occasionally thnk goodness) More Mrs T.... more.......
14. OK blu tack aside..... Is that a pre amp with no battery?
15. I do prefer the Maple to look at, sadly though the Swamp Ash has Mojo in buckets..... BIG buckets.....
16. You know I want to.....
17. When we get it right maybe.... You do have to be so accurate with them as any tiny flaw in technique is magnified...! Neales Adamas is probably the most beuatiful sounding guitar I've ever heard live!
18. Anyone in New Jersey on the board? can do with a bit of private detection work (of the bass kind) if we have any borthers out there? Help ?
19. Yeah thats my fave of all of them..... I'd be gutted if anything serious happens to that baby!
20. Paul, its barely audible with the nylons on..... audible with normal strings but no match for a treble 6 string.... Its beauty lies within its plugged in tone. I wanted an accoustic(ish) to accompany my Guitarists Adamas.... I gave up unplugged because without spending an 8x6 shed load of dosh it wasnt gonna happen.... The Viper plugged in but turned down sounds EXACTLY how an accoustic bass should sound. (to me and Neale anyhoo!)
21. How good are you at negotiating? If you stomp and say "I can get for £90 on the net..." they will more than likely tell you to go do one..... So suggets to them that, it seems quite a high price compared to others you've seen ane let them come back to you. If they dont budge ask if they thorw somthng else in with it to get your custom. If they still dont budge suggest to them that there is another shop locally that price matches, and would'nt they prefer you to spend your money with thier shop than go down the road.... For your £120 bass, I'd expect tp get it down to 105-100 or get at leat £10 of bits thrown in....
22. Stig is teh slightly 'off teh wall' Danish geezer that plays with DAD..... Believe me thats not one of his wierdest 2 string basses!
23. I'm intrigued now too! Does it have any markings on it?
24.
Robbie Shakespeare apparently plays PRS basses.
Just shows my ingorance---- I'd never heard of him.... Just checked his webby, sure enough he has at least 2 early set-neck PRS 4s .... They aren't teh same as my later bolt on necks, but I wouldnt mind betting he's a couple of them laying around somewhere! thanks Steve you've educated me today!
