Headphones is easy to explain as teh speakers are much smaller they will produce higher frequencies better. As to whats causing teh hum, my simple guess is that you are driving some elements too hard but thats without seeing it all. DHA may be your best source of knowledge on this one!

I'm seriously tempted by the S-1004 semi, but the split PG doesnt float my boat, as niether does the Derby girls bottom shape design of the jupiter.
It's economical 'cos you only have the iron "on" when you need it so it's not using gas whilst you're arranging things. It also re-lights itself once it's up to heat so that is a one handed operation A butane tin's about £5 and seems to last for ages.
+1 I have a serious gas iron.... http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...amp;dir=catalog And I have had the same 250ml butane refill tin for 3 yrs. VERY very economical to run for its power!

I havent succumbed yet but feel it wont be long. just out of curiosity...... I take it you dont find any serious issues with playing them?

On my P and other P bass alikies that I've played with (my preferance is for side exitting jacks) I wire straight form the jack to the bridge as its the shortest piece of wire and its permanent. Soldering simple processes is not rocket science and a cheap soldering iron and solder is a shed load cheaper than a trip to your local 'shop. There is plenty of advice already on this section (search for soldering) and I believe on a thread somwhere that there was a link to a you-tube lesson in simple soldering for complete noobs!
I got the new Korg Pitchblack the other week, it beats all the competition for me because on top of being well built, small, highly visible, quick and accurate it has true bypass (which obviously every tuner should have) and an AC out, you can daisy chain the rest of your pedals out of this one.
The pitchblack is a scaled down DT10 to fit in with smaller size pedals and pedal boards.
Ok, I'm getting a big thumbs up here for her first choice anyway, so looking good. I can have a go at talking her out of shocking pink, but as it's gonna be hers, maybe I'll just have to get more in touch with my feminine side.... Thanks again all for thoughts!
As long you're secure with your male side, shocknig pink should be no problem! If it ticks all her boxes she's more likely to get hooked!

Hipshot Xtender for Vintaged Modified Jazz Bass
The Burpster replied to DaveMuadDib's topic in Accessories and Misc
I'd say you're BT7 guess is spot on shape wise. But the holes look a lot closer on the BT1- The only way to be sure is measure the hole spacings and send them with a quick pic to the team at Hippy.... They are pretty cool about helping with these things... -
Lots of money = Peterson Strobostomp II Not lots of money = Korg DT10
Could you share with the rest of us the thread size and your source of suitable longer screws?
Indeed sir I can ..... as you asked so nicley....! it is a 4-40 thread. The std length in the Hippy A is 1" so if you want longer you need 1-1/4" and shorter 3/4"..... Supplier of all bolts you need....!
Well that's just a lash up surely?
No 5hit? check that rusty old bracket out! How about a jig saw and piec of angle iron and a snare drum.... One person rhythm section Actually had it been done nicely with a Hohner B2B and one of those dodgey keyborad guitar alikies fro the 80s it may have had some credibility..... as it is, my dog Meg could have done one better than that ....
Nothing's perfect. I love the Hipshot saddle design, but their bridges could do with some more intonation travel - like a Badass. I used an A style bridge on my first project bass and I ended up having only just enough travel available to intonate the E string.
Neep, I too was a littel frustrated at the Hippy A designs lack of adjustablity with the supplied set screws. I contacted teh tech dept at Hippy and they told me what size thread the screws are and I now have a selection of screws from a model engineering supplier.... Result? I now have the entire range of the CNC rails in intonation adjustment...... Maybe you shouldnt have to go to that trouble but its very cool once you know!

Hogi... Huge +1 for daisy rock.... far too many put these down without actually seeing one. Very good quality intsrument and well built, but WAY too small for me, but then I've got shovel like hands. Ideal for a small person who doesnt want or is likely to be put off by a heap of cheap camel poo! Several on here have had the same dialemma as you and opted for Dasiy Rock, and got great results.

'79 Fender P-Bass- Sienna Burst, Maple Board, £750!!!
The Burpster replied to Etienne's topic in Basses For Sale
Are you sure the tuners are original? They look too shiny, especially if you compare them with the rusty string tree. Amazing colour though, too bad you are not willing to post.
DOH......! Lack of P knowledge alert....! Fender String trees are historically nickel finish or naked stee = very easy oxidising.... Tuners are chrome plated = kept clean and well treated, no oxidising.... Ettienne, that is one of the prettiest Ps I've seen for a while -
Which is the best of the cheaper end Warwick's to buy??
The Burpster replied to Wooks's topic in Bass Guitars
Well you're looking at 2 different instruments here. the Streamer is a 'proper' Warwick with associated price tag and quality. (VERY good instruments and pro level quality) Rockbass are a sourced, licenced copy of the Warwicks. So they are not the IMHO the same quality of wood QC finish and components. My advice is look for a 2nd hand Streamer of your choice rather than a new Rockbass (unless that is out of your price range) . The wait will be worth it. 2nd hand values could work in your favour at the min...... Warwickhunt will be along in a min to fill out the details! -
i was previously offered by someone on bass chat a trade plus 100 quid. i think this is fair,
Yep sorry about that dude, blame Haruki.... he needed one in a hurry for a gig and came round with cold hard cash..... This is a good deal if you wanna trade up from a 30. Good luck bud...
