I'll take this opportunity to post the pic from when I mixed BF cabs - 69er and Super Twin, powered by 2000w power amp, fed by Glockenklang preamp. [Img]https://s25.postimg.org/h8xtnj5bz/2014-04-08105119_zps8a351ed7.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> It would have been rude not to in the short time when I owned both cabs
2.
Could be to do with the drivers that BF developed for Gen 3?
The drivers on the 69er are designed to thicken the sound to an extent, also being a sealed cab might be a factor. But Yes, the g3 drivers are superb imo; the Super Twim gives me an immense blank canvas.
3. I sold my 69er as it was distorting at the big subby frequencies I often play at. The super twin which replaces it is undistortable and the perfect sound for me.
4. Looks like Jon Shuker has embraced the challenge in the past , and you know it'll be top quality http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/customgallery.html
5. General Discussion still waiting for the "Custer v Montgomery" thread.
6. As a youth of the 80's/90's, the band Chicago was always synonymous with cheesy rock ballads. It's only in the last year that I've discovered how superb their earlier output was.
7.
the useless (on bass anyway) 2 octave down.
It's the 2 octave down that stops me from downsizing to a T16! I love it
8.
Hmm, seems to work for some and not others. Strange. If only Photobucket didn't become totally unusable we wouldn't have these problems! Here's a link to some additional images, security set to 'public' as before. Can you see them? https://www.flickr.com/photos/146983977@N08/shares/8zJd9z
I've just checked on Safari/iPad and Can see them fine. Still not able on my phone/Chrome. Anyway, lovely bass! I much prefer the ash to that yellow/grey burr than I often see on Alphers. Gorgeous
9. Mine is on mobile/Chrome It talks about no permissions
10. Fyi it doesn't allow access to the photos
11.
YES and Women don't normally feature in the same sentence
12.
Dare I suggest Bob Marley?
IIRC you're a UB40 fan. For a UB40 fan to say Bob Marley is overrated is just weird
13. I'm just not very Rock'n'Roll
14. Good work. I've always loved the look of the EB3 and fancy I'd play/sound just like Andy Frazer if I had one.
15. I have the Dr Freakenstein's Dwarf Bitch - it's insane! A bit too insane on its own tbh but very synthy when swept with a filter.
16. No Sharp edges, light as a feather and earthed - it passes my elfin safety requirements.
17.
Good for jazz
And chess
18.
My Mono M80 bag completely protected by bass when someone knocked my EBS-Proline 2x10 cab off the 4x10 cab it was stacked on directly onto the bass which was lying on the floor in its case. That's a weighty cab falling about 2 feet. The cab actually bounced off the case and the bass inside was completely unscathed. As I said in my original post the protection the Mono bag provides is excellent, it's a pity it's so uncomfortable for me to wear on my back for any length of time which negates it's usefulness as a gig bag.
My M80 saved by bass from drowning! We put our gear in the designated back room after sound check and went for some food. It rained. A lot. Onto melting snow. When we returned for the gig, the room had about 2" of water on the floor at the end where the gear was stacked. The bass was dry inside! I agree about the uncomfortable shoulder straps btw
19. Barefaced have got me cornered; they are the only quality maker I know of who make cabs less than 13" deep, which is the gap under the stairs between the shoe tub and the wall where my amp gear must be stored. Good job I like them!
20. To me, 'poke' is a prominent midrange which cuts through the mix. 'Balls' or 'Heft' are an overall umami richness. All of which are sound! Of course power amps affect sound! To me it seems ludicrous to suggest otherwise. I think it must come down to individual perception of what 'sound' is.
21. "The Government Knows" is a personal favourite hilarious and NSFW http://youtu.be/4zH9Zca1vRM
22. Drugs, politicians, sex pest, violence, wheelchair. This was a gig to remember! http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/crime/birthday-party-descended-into-drug-fuelled-rampage-1-4550827
23. On a journey up the M1, the song 'Start' by The Jam came on the stereo, about which my wife commented how the bass line was an obvious rip off from The Beatles' 'Taxman'. At the next services, I spotted Bruce Foxton, and told my wife to go and give him that feedback. She didn't.
24.
I once sat in Vangelis studio while He was recording the music for Blade runner , He had just had a new "Fairlight " keyboard & I got a disapproving look for playing the theme to "Rhubarb & Custard" on it
Reminds me of the time when we were setting up for a recording at Sony Studios in London, and George Michael came into the recording room as part of a pre-arranged tour. He nodded a greeting through the glass, and our trumpet player belts out the sax line from Careless Whisper. He didn't react
