1. Thanks for the replies folks, I've passed the info on. Hope it gets someone here a gig, and I look forward to seeing you play (assuming I'm invited 😂)
2. Haha I thought this thread was about potatoes too. ..and they all look good in their place, except 4+1
3. A recently engaged friend has asked me to recommend a band for their wedding. He says that the ones they have checked out online are quite cheesy, citing Bruno Mars as the apparent benchmark for cheese. The couple are more into the indie band thing (he's also partial to a bit of reggae/ska), but still want the place to feel like a party. Nottingham area DJ already booked Not sure whether PA is provided, but I'm assuming not Any guidance/suggestions please?
4.
I have to admit, I'm a little bit disappointed that they aren't a local band...
Hah, I'd definitely go and see them
5.
I'm pretty certain I've seen this (or something very similar before) so I'm guessing this is off social media and not an advert you spotted in Nottingham?
That's correct

7. What you should do is sing "Plug In Baby" softly to it each night before bed.
8. Let this be a grave lesson to those who don't support their plugins.
9. If your plugin is upset, be there for it; be a shoulder to cry on, and be a good listener. It'll come round in its own time.
10.
I can slip a banana between my pick ups and strings, do you think my action is to high ?
...or your pickups too low or your bananas too small

12. I must have bought a duff one; the Bassic Black combo. Wooly and uninspiring. Strangely, it was bought new from The Bass Centre, but once opened up for repair a while later, it was discovered to have a cheap EV driver, despite SWR claiming that they have never use EV drivers in their cabs. A mystery
13. Is love to see their faces if a duo like Lightning Bolt turned up http://youtu.be/1Z5BJ_s9EtM
14.
I'm sure that one day the Elf will be considered oversized....progress means things will get smaller over time.
Soon we'll just have a preamp app which wirelessly connects to your powered cab...
15. New album by St Vincent, Masseduction. Really, really good. Imagine Goldfrapp produced by Trent Reznor. Sexy, dark, tender and inventive.
16. I've seen them a couple of times, and each time Rocco was quite low in the mix, or maybe I should say soft in the mix? Still the overall groove seemed to be perfect
17. From Glen Vine on Facebook: "BE BOP DELUXE ...I’m searching for a talented bass player with strong harmony backing vocals. This is an appeal to genuine fans of Be Bop Deluxe who know and love the music. If this is you, its not necessary to describe how varied, unique the music is and how challenging it is to play. The goal is to recreate the fabulous and unique live sound from the early Axe Victim days through to Modern Music and beyond. If this sounds exciting – please don’t let distance from our the location (South Yorkshire) deter you from getting in touch. Thanks." https://m.facebook.com/groups/628992467283349?view=permalink&id=839590152890245 Anyone up for the challenge?

I'll take this opportunity to post the pic from when I mixed BF cabs - 69er and Super Twin, powered by 2000w power amp, fed by Glockenklang preamp. [Img]https://s25.postimg.org/h8xtnj5bz/2014-04-08105119_zps8a351ed7.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> It would have been rude not to in the short time when I owned both cabs
20.
Could be to do with the drivers that BF developed for Gen 3?
The drivers on the 69er are designed to thicken the sound to an extent, also being a sealed cab might be a factor. But Yes, the g3 drivers are superb imo; the Super Twim gives me an immense blank canvas.
21. I sold my 69er as it was distorting at the big subby frequencies I often play at. The super twin which replaces it is undistortable and the perfect sound for me.
22. Looks like Jon Shuker has embraced the challenge in the past , and you know it'll be top quality http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/customgallery.html
23. General Discussion still waiting for the "Custer v Montgomery" thread.
24. As a youth of the 80's/90's, the band Chicago was always synonymous with cheesy rock ballads. It's only in the last year that I've discovered how superb their earlier output was.
25.
the useless (on bass anyway) 2 octave down.
It's the 2 octave down that stops me from downsizing to a T16! I love it
