1. I think taking my shirt off is as far as I'd go haha, but fair play to the guy!
2. I'm not making a purchase unfortunately, I just wanted to say that those Heads Up straps look like a bloody genius design!!
3.
It's true about the B3K/B7K. I have been through a horde of pedals and only the Darkglasses really did that tone. If you are trying to emulate it with other pedals it would have to involve a signal splitter/mixer, a dist pedal plus, probably, an EQ ..... so that would work out more pricy than a B3K.
Apparently the Grunt switch is where the magic is at. It adjusts the crossover so that it lets lower frequencies get distorted. This basically means that even if you have the blend knob at 100% wet, you still have a clean low end!
4.
Don't you come complaining now, lad. I told you this at The Derby Stakes, remember? Back in '13 or so. Before The War, 'f course. But no, you wouldn't listen. "Bu', it's only fair they get to vote", was you. Well, I voted for Anmer back then, and I vote for Anmer now. You stand corrected, son! Yours, faithfully, Sir Bertram
But I thought it was the same situation as letting your toddler play with your car keys. You know, it keeps them happy but you don't very well expect them to actually get behind the wheel and go all Grand Theft Auto on you do you?
5. Not a bad price considering the others in the market... However I used to have a Ritter gig bag which totally fell to pieces within a year or two...
6.
Tbh if there was a cheaper alternative, you wouldn't be seeing so many of the darkglass pedals
Just wait til Behringer get their mitts on one
7.
How can it possibly be a passive bass?
Good point! I don't like using active basses but in the majority of cases they're easily the most versatile!
8. The B3K is about £200, it doesn't have an EQ or a DI but if you have an amp you won't need those anyway I'm saving for one!
9. it looked like it was going to be a fantasic show, but the style of music is not my cup of tea, and Terminator 2 is on the other side Still, interesting to discover that James Corden can sing! I'm one of the few people in the world who actually like the guy!
10.
Can't believe yous got my first thread on BC locked up like lads! Was quite proud of that thread
You should be proud that your first thread was locked. I've been here for over 2 years and never managed it
11. It's a tricky one this... There are so many factors to bass playing. Compared to another player, you can be 'better' at timing, but 'worse' at keeping up with chord changes. 'Better' at slap bass, but 'worse' at knowing when slap bass is not appropriate. And so on!
12. I would say a PJ bass... but usually a J pickup at the bridge on its own is way too weedy sounding for most band situations... So maybe something with a humbucker at the bridge and a P at the neck? or even two humbuckers?
13.
Looks like you've got the rig that's suitable for all events already! If you're happy with your sound, I wouldn't fix it if it ain't broke.
Yep I agree with this If it was me personally though i'd prefer to have a seperate head and cab so I can roll up with even less to carry when cabinets are provided by venues/other bands.
14. The women are taking over! Very welcome all the same
15. This thread is amazing My most recent bass was purchased because I thought it looked really cool I also own extremely uncool 5 and 6 string basses.Oh noes!!
16. This was the first compressor I ever owned. Did the job beautifully even on my 6 string tuned ADGCFBb! Only sold it because I upgraded to the Aguilar TLC which cost 10x as much
17. To be fair I reckon a Markbass 102HF would be enough
18. I can't believe it took over 12 hours for this awesome box to be snapped up
19. They're rubbish i'm lying.
20.
Glad I'm not a gigging bass player - I mean, what if I turned up at their door with a five-string upright...?
I'd say "play it sideways and you're in"
21.
See, that's the problem right there... I can't see why anyone with some knowledge of the world would like to play music for the sake of money.
I would. If I got a phonecall tomorrow asking me to tour with some god awful act like Nicki Minaj, I'd do it. The money would be insane and I'd certainly have some stories to tell. Would you miss out on that opportunity?
22. I have only ever had negative comments about playing a six string once, and it was from another bass player. A pretty crap one if I remember rightly All other comments have been positive, but as above it might be because in metal circles it's almost expected to have an extra string or two!
23. I like 45 - 105 for playing in E flat. They're not too tight to play comfortably on, and they're not too floppy to have a fairly low action with. Also having a slightly less deep tone makes my overall sound and attack tighter.
