I literally went from elation to despair reading that post. Edit: I'm not wild about the pickguard - but that's easily changed, I do love the 5th fret inlay
The first thing I thought when i saw this was "Those tuners look a bit weird." .. D'oh!

Why do some people refer to their bass as 'she'?!
chrismuzz replied to tedmanzie's topic in General Discussion
I kind of understand it, but I feel uncomfortable with the idea of calling my basses a 'she'. Even if somebody was showing me theirs and said "she's beautiful isn't she?", i'd have to respond with "yes, it is" -
Pretty cool! I still want a 6 effect upgrade for the B3 though

I got a Peavey Scorpio recently. (the Dave Ellefson model with the mirror pickguard and Seymour Duncan quarter pounders). It's amazing! It only cost me £150 on ebay. Definitely worth a look. The non signature models don't look very metal at all!

Now to wait another year until they bring out a programmable 3 channel one

Haha I knew i'd get some good humoured responses to that I'll stop derailing the thread anyways!

Gear that shouldn't have sounded good, but...
I see you are a Stokie...well live there at any rate!.. I am playing at The crown in Red Street on Saturday...not that well known as a music pub but it's my old Local. Have you played at The Museum in the last 4 years? ...chances are I would have seen you play,I love the bands that play in there!
Yup lived here for nearly 5 years now! It's not the most exciting place in the world but the cost of living is pretty low I've never played the museum actually! In my covers band we mostly do rock pubs anywhere in Staffordshire, sometimes a bit further afield -
Now you see I can understand a HH being described as "very old" but Line 6 ? ........I must be getting old........
It was about 8 years old, which by the standards of the earlier Line 6 stuff is basically antique -
I've always thought it helps to think of a church as a community of people rather than a physical building, if you keep that in mind you might be able to walk past one and not break out into a sweat !!
I don't even know why I have the phobia, I've had it all my life! It's just being inside one that sets me off... sweating, nausea, and anxiety, followed by vomiting and sometimes fainting if I don't leave right away. Come to think of it, the same thing happened when I did a school nativity play! Maybe it means I'm the antichrist??

I LOVE the sound of the old front ported Ashdown cabs.. but only when driven by the brightest head in the universe - Markbass F1! They sound like mush with everything else
-
I love the sound of a MM Bongo with an MM and a J pickup in
-
I figured out this year that I actually have a phobia of churches. Isn't that weird? It's a good thing I'm an atheist otherwise I'd be missing out on a lot of gigs!

Another vote for ACS ER20s here. Nice and cheap, but very good! You lose a tiny bit of high end detail, and get a small low end boost, but that just protects you from cymbals that are inches from your ears, and allows you to hear yourself better! I went for the 'ice' ones as they are smaller, I have narrow ear canals.

Replacing the Foam Lining in a Flight Case
chrismuzz replied to cloudburst's topic in Accessories and Misc
I'd just buy a massive sheet of foam off ebay or something, cut it, and superglue it to the case -
Interestingly every bass sounds good through a B15 and a vintage Fender P sounds pretty good through almost any amp. Does this make a vintage Fender P through a B15 the best combination ever?
Probably!! Though i bet if we opened a poll asking how many members would use this setup the majority would say no
-
Er, I can't possibly comment on that... I'll PM you my settings if you like. And now back on topic...
Go for it dude, always good to have a starting point!
-
1960's Ampeg B15N - the amp used on more amazing studio recordings than anything else?
I guess that would make the best bass a Fender P *hides*
-
What a pleb-end Oh well, at least he's put a real photo up!
-
I like the grit from the BassDriver, but I roll off the bottom end and replace it with the bottom end from the Markbass sim for more definition. So you get the best of both worlds - as much crunch as you want but with nice clear heft. The M-Comp is quite transparent, but I have quite a bit of squash on it which gets nice sustain from the Bassdriver. I like a big firm bottom, me. And so on and so forth, oo-er, fnarr fnarr, etc.
Don't we all That's a really good idea, I never thought of trying that! I've got a feeling I'm going to be turning up to the venue early tomorrow night for some knob twiddling
He responded: "The bass I'm selling is defo a Warwick corvette $$...German made..has all the owners manual and all the gubbins to go with..I put an online pic as was not at home..sorry for any inconvenience..congratulations on your wonderful eye sight..Thanks T"
Not sure if sarcasm or broken English

chrismuzz replied to robbiano's topic in General Discussion
I once put my bass through a really old Line 6 Spider guitar combo.. Not only did i not blow it up, but I got an incredible distorted tone -
Heh. M-Comp > BassDrive > Markbass. How did you know?
Psychic Awesome! I've used similar settings on my B3 (but without the Markbass sim!) on a gig once where I had no amp - just the DI on the Zoom. I feel a bit like a traitor saying this but it was the best sound I ever had!
-
Yes. I have in the past used the Markbass Super Booster (Clean boost, VLE, VPF) as a pre-amp, worked great. I'm now using a Zoom B3 as a preamp.
This is turning into a "The best amp is no amp" thread What are you using on the B3 then now dude? The Markbass amp sim?
-
yes, but I still want only one control knob on my amp. Dual concentric pot at a push...
Markbass MoMark? They have an "EQ" module with no knobs on at all, so you can have just a Gain and a Master on your amp if you want! Or you could have the VPF/VLE filters only for all the flexibility most bass players will ever need
-
The only thing of mild interest I've seen so far is Markbass's 'multi amp'. But seeing as their gear is pretty transparent I don't see the point I'm eagerly awaiting to see what Zoom have up their sleeve!
