1.
Then allow me to get things back on track:
The Batio barrier has been broken. I'm out
2.
it just looks like a lot of childish bickering.
So does your mum!
3.
You folks have a hard time accepting we are different and get desperate when someone doesn't share your goals and dreams.
To be honest mate, that's the impression that I get of you. You're very reasonable as long as somebody agrees with you.
4.
Not until you know more than me in my field.
Really? There are so many variables in 'your field', you can't possibly claim to excel above everyone else here in all areas of it. I happen to highly respect your technical abilities and your understanding of theory and to apply it to your playing. However I feel that my feel, phrasing and expression have much more authenticity than yours. This doesn't mean I would refuse to listen to your opinion on those subject and nor should it. Seriously man everyone is entitled to an opinion, and every now and then you might learn from someone elses. Amateur or not!
5. I've got a 6 string tuned to A, a 5 string tuned to B, a 4 string tuned to Eb (which gets put in drop C# fairly often), and another 4 string in C. That covers all bas(s)es for the moment
6.
I would have been too, but I picked up my first 212 a few months ago and I have found it to be incredibly versatile either as a standalone cab or paired up with another cab. I play with a pretty flat tone on most occasions and I don't need masses of low end, so 410's and 210's suit me fine, but I find that the 212 gives me the low end when required whilst remaining clear, punchy and loud. Sounds belting with 210 on top for a medium sized full range stack.
The only 2x12 I ever tried was a Barefaced S12T which was amazing, but I've always been happy with what I have and unable to afford anything else
7. I'm really surprised to see that a 2x12 is now more popular than what I considered the 'standard' 4x10!
8. Phew! It's a good thing I don't take drugs any more
9. No way I see you're a Roland/Boss endorsing artist, their modulation effects are really good! Maybe try a few of their offerings?
10. EHX Small Stone nano! Only one knob and a depth switch, and it's all you need. WIth it engaged the frequency range is so ridiculous it makes your feet vibrate til they're numb. I bought one off here a few years ago for under £40!
11. My Zoom B3 replaced my tuner, chorus, phaser, delay, and big muff pedals! I still use my own compressor and overdrives though because they're basically 'always on' effects and I don't want to waste a slot.
12. Symphony X - Paradise Lost Prog metal awesomeness. Obviously I'm not as skilled or creative as Michael Lepond, but the first time I heard him I identified a lot with his style. Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine Just because the nasty clanky tone on that album has really inspired me over the years!
13. Isn't the Tone Hammer a pedal version of the OBP-3 onboard preamp? I've heard some great aggressive sounds from basses equipped with these. Definitely worth a try, I've considered one myself!
14. Yamaha basses have such an incredible sound. Definitely go with that.
15. When I was young the only difference I could distinguish between a guitar and a bass was that the bass was never loud enough. Nothing has changed
16. I feel awkward having to tell somebody I'm going to have to let them down. It's always a much softer blow than just leaving it, and polite too, so I always make sure to keep people informed. I can understand why people don't though, even if it kind of backfires! Thankfully I've never actually encountered any time wasters on basschat yet, and practically all of the transactions I've had here have been an absolute pleasure.
17.
My Amps: Klick My Basses: Klick
Just.. Wow! You have impeccable taste my friend.
18. Might be just over 40 miles, but Andy Viccars in Milton Keynes is the best luthier I've ever met. http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk/
19. That's some challenge! How about Meshuggah - Bleed I don't know which is harder... the right hand technique or the timing!
20. As above really The Line 6 Relay ones are a good, more affordable option. Only downsides are that there are less frequency bands to choose from, they're not as robust, and you still have to supply your own batteries.
21. The Zoom B3 is well worth a mention here. It has a DI, It's got a Sansamp sim on it (with a mid knob!) among a bunch of effects, amp and cab sims, tuner, stereo outputs. The only thing it's missing that you might want is two inputs. But you can save heaps of patches on it for different instruments
22. No mention of TonyDickinsonBG? He's great too!
23. For me, the best way to get tapping to sound good is to have low action, and compression to bring up the level a bit. Gain/overdrive/distortion/fuzz also compress the sound too remember! They more you practice it, the more you'll get used to the technique so it won't seem so strenuous! Good luck
24.
What, like this one?
Like that, but with the Blend, Bite, and Speaker sim switches. That would be amazing! I would definitely get rid of my PBDDI for one.
25. I dunno if they were mentioned at NAMM, but D'Addario have started doing balanced tension string sets! http://www.bassplayer.com/article/namm-2013-landing-page/150374
