1. I used to have a main bass, but seeing as each of my 4 basses is in a different tuning it depends on what I'm doing or which band I'm playing with at the time.
  2. Good choice! I prefer passive basses myself, just put in an order for another 6 string Grind for my new band Only problem is I have no idea when they'll get it in stock!
  3. Ibanez and Peavey both have nice slim necks, along with pretty much any Jazz bass.

    H/B pedals

I've heard the overdrives are pretty good. Though as another option for overdrive, there are a few basschatters selling a Marshall Jackhammer pedal for (I think) £30. Actually very good on bass! And they have bass, treble, and adjustable mid contour knobs on them. Sounds great as a mild overdrive, and if you've got a blend pedal to retain your clean low end, it also sounds amazing at high gain settings.
  6.
Inti \ Antiloco is on a life skills sabbatical and won't be around for a while.
Did you change his member title to 'Music Is Entertainment'?
  7. I've got one exactly like this. They're really nice! Comfy neck and the pickups will give you nice punchy mids. In fact every bass I ever pick up I compare it to the 4 string version of this
  8.
Yes, it's all your fault Chris - you should be ashamed of yourself.
I can't help myself, I'm such a rotter
Not really!
I think so. His attitude is cringeworthy when somebody says something he doesn't agree with. But to go ahead and remove your playing videos from YouTube because of what you expect of a large community of actually very pleasant fellow musicians is just sad.
  9.
i went back it says no videos. typed in in search bit and they are all private.
It's a shame he felt the need to do that
  10.
There's nowt there!
That's weird. Maybe he thought everyone here was going to troll his page or tell him he's sh*t?
  11.
Classic and genius!
Mum jokes are at the epitomy of wit and humour. Only used by the top dogs... Like your mum.
  12.
I like this, who are they?
Beyond Creation. I only heard them for the first time the other day!
  13.
that is it, exactly. The LM3 has a great low control, which I find always needs to be dialled back to some degree, often alot more than you might expect.
At my last gig my Lows were set at 10 o clock!
  14. I always have my 4x10 on the floor, with no fancy gizmos isolating it. I set my EQ flat, except for a smidgen of VPF and VLE to taste. The way I get rid of boom is to then adjust the Lows until I get the desired effect. It's slightly different for every room.
+1, though anything that will lift it 30 odd inches will do. Lifting it that high introduces a floor bounce reflection that counteracts boom in the midbass.
I've read allof your contributions so far to this thread. Very interesting and useful information. Thanks!
  15. I cheated a bit. I'm stoked to be 'the bass player', but I have always wished I could sing!
  16.
I was enjoying that, right up to the point where the singer started to try and get rid of the fur ball stuck in his throat.
Haha! I've never heard of that vocal style described in that way before
  17. A serious one this time. If you don't like nasty fast technical metal, make sure your speakers aren't turned up too high before you press play The bassist in this band is an incredible fretless 6 string player. His feel and tone are to die for, as is the bass solo near the end. Nom! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0MkJtI3FvU
  18.
my god not another one of these stupid bulls**t threads! im not going to pretend to be clever here, is there such a thing as a cyber bassball bat?
'mon then. Do you even lift?!
  19.
I've looked at some of these pages. Definitely need more pole dancing clown hookers but otherwise quite entertaining. Unless it's art.
Seriously, every f***ing thread I go on!
  20.
is that from art or entertainment?
For f***'s sake if I hear that one more time today...
  21. Just window shopping here, but that's really nice! Is it a matte finish?
  22. The worst bass I ever played was a Tanglewood precision bass copy. felt and sounded like wet cardboard! Second place goes to (and it pains me to say this) a Yamaha RBX775. Now I have heard some incredible sounds come out of these things, but when I got hold of it there was just wayyyy too much bass and not a lot of midrange. Also, and I've felt the same way about all Yamaha basses, it just didnt 'feel' like a real bass. Like it was made of plastic instead of wood
