My newest bass is ridiculously black I reckon if it would look quite plain if it wasn't a 6 string... I am considering coloured strings for it though, or maybe upgrading the pickups eventually to something with exposed pole pieces!

Will you need the EQ and the DI on the B7K? If not, you will probably be fine with the B3K, which still has Tone, Blend, and the all important Grunt switch! As always, I would suggest getting the Darkglass pedal before selling your Animato just in case you don't like it as much. I'd also recommend at least trying out an Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive. They're a lot cheaper, and actually very good at what they do. They only distort a selectable frequency band in the midrange. Pretty cool! Not quite the same as Darkglass' offerings but definitely worth a go.
I was about to launch into my usual anti-Ritter routine until I saw this... Not sure I'd want to own it (even if I could afford it), but you've got to admit it's original!
I dunno mate... That Ibanez costs less than £200 as well

Will I like Elixir strings? A tight@rse wonders...

They're very good! I went from D'Addario Prosteels to Elixir steels and was very happy with the sound. -
Zoom B3 expression pedal not doing as it should
Do you have a multimeter that you could test the resistance with?
Unfortunately not. But the fact that it doesn't even recognise it as an expression pedal makes me wonder if it was never intended to work with the B3 -
But if a band can't get £200 for a pub gig then maybe it isn't the right sort of band
Minimum we ask for on a first appearance at a pub/venue is £200, occasionally we settle for £150.
-
I gig because I enjoy it. The money side of it is a bonus to me, but because my cover band bring lots of people and keep them drinking and having a great time for a few hours, of course we deserve a share of the profits. You tell the venue how much YOU want, and negotiate from there. The most flexible we've ever been is to give them a figure, and then let them haggle us down IF it's our first time playing there. As long as we agree if it's a good night we will get more bookings with a higher fee.
This pic shows the bleed on the lower neck binding. It's spread further now, but only a cosmetic detail in the end.
Wow! I thought it was going to be a lot less obvious than that...Obviously a manufacturing defect, and such a shame too as they look awesome in that colour. I have played and had in my possession basses that range from the ultra budget price range, to considerably higher than a Rickenbacker and I have NEVER has an issue with paint bleeding like that. And I have pretty acidic sweat! It's a shame you got an unauthorised import otherwise you could have fought your case.. Because let's face it, even if the warranty was valid you wouldn't have had any more help.
Which one?
I can't remember the name to be honest, but that's probably best in case they send the faker brigade down there it's a small-ish shop in the city centre. I recall it being a 5 minute walk from Pizza Hut! haha
Hmmm, I Googled and found that a suspiciously large number of retailers had 'Out of stock', 'Sold' or 'Call for availability', so actually purchasing one may not be so easy.
There's a shop absolutely full of em in Nottingham!

I kinda like it. Whack a bridge pickup in there and I'd use it!
Weighs a bl**dy ton though.
All 6 strings do! Now that I use passive only they seem pretty light but everyone who uses them always comments on how heavy they are
For me the main thing is to be treated as a human, and with some honesty.
This is really important to me too. Even if I don't part with any money that day, I remember the quality of service forever and will be more likely to shop there in future. I also don't hesitate to recommend them to as many people as I can!

I said a combination of the above. At the moment while money is an issue for me, I hunt relentlessly for the lowest price. However, in normal circumstances if an item that I want is for sale in multiple places, I will try to make sure to go for a store I have used before and received good service from. I like to to try and support local shops, but items that I want have only ever been available locally a handful of times. I'm the kind of person who knows what they want before they go out shopping, so I'm probably a shopkeepers worst nightmare! I know that even if a store can order an item in for me, I will be able to get it faster and cheaper online. I won't be able to try before I buy, but I'd hate to make a local shop order something in and then decide I didn't want it! Nowadays I use real world music stores for mindless browsing, or if I need an emergency pack of strings, a cable, or a strap. I nearly bought an Ashdown Lomenzo from PMT in Manchester because I'd had a pleasant experience with the staff, but the only one in the shop was a display model that was faulty

Do distance selling regulations apply to used gear?

Snap the neck and send it back -
These basses are just great. They sound amazing through Ampeg amps, and they just look dead cool. Especially that spalted maple top Don't know how they manage to make them so affordable! Enjoy it

I always wonder about that... I remember tiny little details from songs that I haven't heard in years and years too! I wonder if everybody works the same way, or if it's some kind of gift like a photographic memory?

I just picked up one of the older style FP02s off ebay, it looks like this: Connected it up to my B3, but it only seems to recognise it a a footswitch. I tried setting it as a volume pedal, but the only thing that happens is that when I push it all the way down the tuner activates, since that's what the footswitch setting is. I tried setting the footswitch to 'No Assign' but it still won't work as an expression pedal. This particular model comes with a stereo lead already permanently attached, so I'm wondering if either one of the connectors or cables is knackered, or if this model simply doesn't work with the B3... Which is a bit strange considering it has exactly the same product name as the newer one. Any thoughts?

Who are the real gunslinger virtuoso bassists?
chrismuzz replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Dominic "Forest" Lapointe is my favourite bass player at the moment. He's primarily a metal player but I doubt there's anything he couldn't do! I nearly posted Beyond Creation's music video in here, until I remembered he did a playthrough video so you can really see and hear what he's doing... Oh and the good news is, you can hear his bass on the actual album too... A rare treat for metal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrwWBFp91U0 -
the Behringer DC-9 is a good starting point.
Top advice. It was my first compressor! For some reason the output knob worked backwards, but apart from that it worked great. I only got rid of it because I like very extreme compression, and the Aguilar does that a lot better. I had to pay 7x the price of the Behringer for it though, which proves how good that little black box is.
-
As above, it could leak. Also, some pedals won't work with a power supply if there is a battery installed at the same time.

The Programmable Sansamp works well for me. I have one big warm sound, one slightly driven clicky 'regular Sansamp sound', and one gnarly overdriven sound on it. You will also be able to mix your clean tone, or any of those three with your ODB-3 which gives you 6 different tones without having to touch anything with your hands
I my band share a rehearsal room and I use the other bassists line6 LD300 combo and I have to say it's basic sounds are pretty good and it's loud too. People make fun of them but if Klyde Jones is using one they can't be that bad.
IMost of the people who rag on Line 6 are either anti-digital elitists, or have only heard the little guitar combos from 10 years back or more. Those things really were shocking!

Great tone, proof that a Jazz doesn't have to be all treble and nothing else!
