1. I knew it!! *Backs away slowly*
 2. I'd give her a go... ...on my bass She'd make it sound better than I ever could!
 3.
Probably plays better than a real one...
Teehee I love the sound and the look of Rics but you're probably right!
 4.
Plus I have a bright orange Stingray why would anyone want anything else?
Actually, I can't make Stingray's sound good. I must be the only person in the world, so I can't shift the blame
 5. I was just wondering where you'd been recently... Good to know you're still about Have an excellent wedding! I think people get mixed up between a sound that's good, and a sound that they want. Ever since my first day playing bass I've been lucky to have a good sound, but I'm always chopping and changing because the sound that I want to have is slightly different. I'm getting closer and closer! The only time I've ever had a sound that was actually bad was when I used a Behringer 4x10 combo. It just made everything sound like you dropped an old out of tune piano down the stairs
 6. Most of the time I couldn't tell you what note I was playing without looking at the fretboard and figuring it out. I'm usually cool with knowing what interval I'm on relative to the key I'm currently playing in though. I seem to be best at figuring out major 7th, minor 2nd, and tritones though
 7. I haven't had this spam email, not yet anyway! I reckon if it had come from BC everyone who registered will have received it.
 8.
'Gnarly Overdrive' sounds like the perfect description of what I want!
Marshall Jackhammers can go very gnarly too! They don't have a clean blend, but they do have a 2 band EQ and an adjustable mid 'contour' (ie scoop). You can pick them up for around £30 used! I actually use mine after my SansAmp and Ashdown pedals on a very low gain setting to kind of smooth everything over.. But I used to use it on a higher setting with boosted treble to get a distorted metallic clank.
 9.
Guitarist with cold feet..... "We aren't ready"...... "I'm not happy with some of our starts"...... "we need longer before we gig"..... "Our singer needs to be more commanding as a front person"......
Best advice for your guitarist: You'll NEVER feel ready for your first gig, just do it! The best practice you can possibly get at gigging in front of an audience, is gigging in front of an audience! I remember doing my first gig in the tinest pub you could possibly imagine, I had a 'herbal cigarette' to calm my nerves and my legs were STILL shaking all the way through the set! I don't blame you for wanting to join another band... but who's to say if your current one pulls their socks up you can't do both?
 10. My setlist has some very difficult songs by Lamb Of God, Metallica, Anthrax, and some simpler ones by Drowning Pool, Alice In Chains, and RATM. once my hands are knackered after a bit of a thrash fest, the easier ones are a welcome break while still being great songs to play. And they allow me to concentrate less on my fretboard and more on the audience, so I can work on my metal face
 11.
Admittedly, I need to do some restringing soon. Still on the quest to find the perfect strings, currently using Dunlop Stainless Steels on all my basses which are my favourite to date, but I'll be buying some DR DDT's soon and giving them a bash.
If you like that brand new stainless steel sound, try the new Elixir ones. I've had a set on for 4 months and they still sound proper clanky! They cost me £40, but to have sounded like that for 4 months I'd have had to buy at least 6 sets of D'Addarios!
 12. I use a Stageclix one. Pricey, but to me it's worth it! It's digital, so no need to worry about licensed frequencies. If I use it at home it makes the internet go on and off but that's it. No interference in the bass signal! There are 12 channels to choose from, just in case anyone else nearby is using wireless too. It also runs in 2 channels simultaneously at all times... So if for some reason one channel stops working, the other one will still be running. It's dead easy to charge too, as you just plug it into the receiver. No need to remember batteries all the time The Line 6 ones are still excellent if you'd prefer not to pay £400 for your wireless kit. The major differences being that it only runs 1 channel at a time, you need your own batteries, and it's not quite as indestructible.
 13. She is an awesome player and musician, and proof that the bass is not just a boy's toy!
 14.
Cheers mate, I do love my Thunderbird. Hopefully I'll have a nice shiny white one with Gibson pickups soon too And for the first time, I've been completely happy with my rig, can get a huge range of sounds, from warm and clean to the most evil distortion you could imagine
Pretty I'm getting there. I just need a replacement bridge pickup in one bass, and about 4 new sets of strings! ... And once I've done that I'll find the next 'essential upgrade'
 15. Allparts is pretty good for bits and bobs. Just had a look and there's a pretty decent variety of 5 string bridges http://www.allparts.uk.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=&cPath=277_1_630_2_3_5&p=shop&sortby=prices&sort_dir=ASC Bassdirect have a few high quality Hipshot ones too http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Hipshot,_Bridges,_Tuners.html
 16.
Ignore the cat, she insisted on getting in the photo.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that it's not a real rig shot unless there's a cat present! Effin' awesome rig as well dude, I can only imagine how great that all sounds! That's the coolest looking Thunderbird I've ever seen too.
 17.
He probably bricked himself.
I've definitely been awake too long. I can't stop laughing
 18. I wonder what he thinks of this?
 19.
Nig you don't look your age!
I thought he was younger than me, and I'm 25!
 20. I use tabs for really tricky bits, I don't think I could ever learn a Dream Theater song without tab as a guide! But I much prefer working stuff out by ear if I can. I can always tell if a tab is wrong as well, thankfully!
 21.
Mmmmm Black.....
That's the first Status I've ever seen that I would genuinely LOVE to be seen playing
 22.
My black bass has Rotosound black strings
You need some black frets
 23.
Agreed! Needs black strings though.... and colour in the dot markers with a pen... (a black one, obviously).
In some of the dingy pubs I play in, I'd never find the damn thing
 24.
I'd actually changed sets from Steels to the BT Nickels, so the feel this time round was a more noticeable difference as D'addario Nickels tend to have a firmer feel due to the higher tension.
I never knew that! I always imagined it would be the other way round
 25.
I think Elite strings got it about right:
I agree, I've always liked their strings too!
