Cheers - that's a stunning sound!
I'm incredibly pleased with how it came out. Thanks to these recordings I no longer have Darkglass GAS.... Well.... not for the moment anyway
Great playing and amazing tone. What did you record your bass through?
Thanks man I connected my pedalboard to my laptop using the USB out on the Zoom B3, and recorded direct into Reaper!
-
Behringer Ultrabass BX4410 I'm not biased against Behringer as I quite like a lot of their stuff, but this was only good for creating a sea of mud with horrible midrange thud. And it weighed about 3 tonnes.
-
Proper tempted by this haha. I play Machine Head stuff live all the time!
-
Wow that's shocking!! I hope Alex doesn't get messed around with claiming his losses from the courier. And I hope you're not left waiting too long for a replacement!
-
i'd never sell a bass unless I didn't want it any more. Especially not one that nice!! If you want a Jazz, get a Jazz. But if you really have to get rid of such a thing of beauty for a bass you might not be that bothered about I'd pass!
-
Very dodgy indeed! I do get the feeling that the seller was being honest in his listing though. Anybody wanting to rip people off would do a better job than that on the decal Had to laugh when he said "It hums like a geiger counter in a Japananeese power station."
-
I heard they could get noisy when you use fairly heavy compression, that was one thing that put me off getting one myself since my ratio is set to infinity
On to Chrismuzz in Stoke??
This could work out pretty well! I wish I could make it to Vinny's gig on the 13th but I've got one myself the same night! I'm totally cool to collect the bass a day or two after.. Generations are the featured band at Stoke Uni's Headbangers Ball on the 16th!
-
I've PM'd solo, I don't want him to miss out if (as it appears) he's only got the one gig to play it at.
Nice one I don't mind waiting for mine, I gig all the time so whenever's best!
-
I'm happy to be a link in this. I'm in Stockport and I can pick up the bass this Friday or Saturday. I'm not gigging at the moment, but I'm off to a jam night on Sunday, if that's any good.
If you have it next, I'm only an hour's drive away so I'll come get it after you. I've got 3 decent gigs in April Unless somebody closer wants it before me?
-
Some really interesting topics coming from you lately man! I'm fairly happy with my ability at the moment. There are a lot of things I'd like to do that I can't, but i'm happy being at the level I am, and the fact that I can only improve is a nice thought. A lot of why I have been frustrated at times is probably due to the fact that I see or hear another musician do something, but be unable to myself. I calmed down a lot once I realised that if I really want to achieve something, I should just stop whinging and practice
+1 I first heard the LMK and loved the sound. Later I owned an LM2 and then an F1 and the F1 was my least favourite Markbass amp. It had no warmth in comparison to the LMK and LM2. Our drummer has rated some of my amps as great and some have been good, The F1 has been the only amp I've bought to a gig that he didn't like and I trust his ears when it comes to bass amps. The LM2 sounded great just running it with a flat EQ. IMO, that's always a sign of a good amp.
The F1 is definitely... specialised... It works great for metal though and I love it!
-
Yeah the LMs are warmer sounding than the F1, but a bit more bulky.
Yep! 2u rack space instead of 1u because of the larger analog power amp. Identical in every other dimension though.
-
Having used both, the F1 wins for me. Much more upper midrange content, and a much more cutting attack. Every other amp I have played since feels like the attack is squashed down flat, like a badly set up compressor. The LM heads are still amazing, with a nice warm sound..But if you want bright, the F1 will be a life changer!
I saw something on the EBS site about a Y cable that is due to come out for this pedal anyone know any more about this and what it's for exactly?
The pedal has 1 effects loop for the clean channel, and one for the dirty channel. You use a Y cable to put pedals in the loop since they don't have send/return, it's just one jack for each loop.

Thanks! I only really started listening to them recently, and this song is a real blast! The cover band are putting it in the setlist too so I'll get to enjoy it much more

Well I had LOADS of fun making the Metallica video yesterday, so I covered another thrash classic! A little mistake after the 2nd verse but ah well Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmDMvx6WjnA

Do we appreciate technical skill more than musical beauty on here?
chrismuzz replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I went through a phase of a good few years where technical skill was very important to me. It's not that much of a big deal any more. But if there's a really well written and great sounding piece that really speaks to me and just happens to have a lot of complicated stuff in there, I do get rather excited -
One finger per fret is useful, but only do it if it doesn't cause any discomfort. You can slowly introduce it over time with practice, but I've been playing for 9 years and only ever use it if it's impossible to play a line any other way. Whatever makes your playing easier and most comfortable is the main thing you want to go for
Ha, ha! Yeah, 'Justice for Jason' needs to be done with a nice modern re-mix IMO.
I've said this many times, but if they re-released the album with the bass higher in the mix I would buy it again!
-
Thanks! I almost recorded a version with me sitting there not playing anything at all, to be more accurate
-
Iron Maiden, 2 fingers, according to the man himself. oh, but maybe you meant you can adapt the 3 to it.
That's correct, 2 fingers! SO much easier with 3 though!

Something I knocked up this afternoon. I've wanted to upload a cover video for a long time now, and I finally grew the balls to do it! I hope you enjoy it!
