1.
Another annoyance is some overwind the ball end of the string, and it's impossible to insert it through the bridge if you're not using Fender style because it doesn't bend! :-/
*cough* Rotosound *cough* I find squeezing the life out of it with pliers before threading it through does the trick! Don't know how good that would be for the string in the long tern though!
2. The only bit of string making wizardry that I subscribe to is the hexagonal core thing, simply because it makes a very obvious difference to me. I like the strings to be nice and tight, without having massive gauges which lead to crazy lows. My .152 low A isn't tapered and i've never been bothered by it, just required a bit of bending at the saddle end
3. I think taking offence is a bit much. Even if somebody offered me 10p for an amp I wouldn't get upset. Everyone's out to get a good deal at the end of the day! (I probably wouldn't sell it for 10p just in case anyones wondering )
4.
Love them or hate them, Elixir do a TW "B" string. At least they give you a good degree of choice in the way you can buy a set. For 4 strings, buy a set of your choice. For 5 strings buy a 4 String set of your choice, and add another string from the following; 0.032 "C" 0.125 0.125 TW (allegedly less compliant) 0.130 0.130 TW 0.135 Naturally , you buy 2 for sixes, but alas, no strings for Sub/Sub-Contra tunings and 7 strings.
I love Elixirs.. Strange how they don't do a tapered .135 though.
5.
That went well
Everybody's got their serious head on today
6. Usually with endorsements, wherever you go, the company will provide amps and cabs for you instead of you taking your own. So I imagine they just couldn't source any.
7. Depending on what basses you have... A funky new pickguard?
8. Markbass F1 on top of an Ampeg stack is about as silly as you're gonna get looks wise. Didn't bother me having it behind me! Sounded immense too Added a bit more attack to the standard SVT hugeness

Line 6 M5

I don't think it's out yet, but the Zoom MS50B looks great and you can have 6 effects at once!
10. Really nice bit of wood there, prettier than some EBs!
11.

I used to have a 6 string shine similar to this... Great basses! And can't argue with Hartke or Peavey! I bet this rig puts a lot of expensive ones to shame
12. I started off on guitar, but I had no idea what a bass was back then. When I found out, and that my uncle was a bassist, as well as my dad, I yearned for one! Eventually my best mate approached me and told me to just get on with it, and play bass in his band. That was nine years ago!
13. One with this on the fingerboard
14. Usually when a bass is advertised as having a 'fast neck' it means that it's slim, and/or has tighter string spacing. But I agree, it's a silly thing to say because people prefer different things... I mean Billy Sheehan loves those ridiculously massive 70's P bass necks!
In my opinion a fast neck is one without a sticky finish that allows the fretting hand to move around it unencumbered by a sticky finish. I find gloss finishes sticky and slow and my nitro finished Warmoth slim taper jazz neck super fast and very comfortable.
This makes more sense to be honest
15. I tried swapping strings from a through body bass to a through bridge bass... Massive kink about 1 inch from the saddles
16. Does anyone remember the SLAP MANIA video?
17.
Bass -> Boss TU3 -> Barber TonePress -> Dunlop CryBaby 105Q -> Ibanez PD7 -> Boss ODB3 -> Sansamp PBDDI -> Line6 Echo Park -> ISP Decimator -> Amp.
I like this one, a lot. Really want to get myself a Decimator some time!
18. I asked Peter Murray if Chris is now an endorsing artist and he said this: "No, he is not choosing to endorse officially, but they agreed to let us share this information publicly. He's a great bass player and it's a real honour that he's been using Markbass gear."
19. To be fair that ad makes it look like it could be really useful! Not many players talk about changing your tone using different types of attack with fingerstyle playing. People are always asking me how I get my sound, and i find it so hard to explain, but he's nailed it by saying he 'plays through the string' haha
20. Have you checked to see if there are any snippets on youtube? There often are
21. It's Bryan Beller, it's gotta be!
22. Best 'real world' stores I've been to are Academy Of Sound in Stoke on Trent, and Phoenix Soundworks which is somewhere in Northamptonshire. They both have friendly, knowledgeable staff who made me feel comfortable and not pressured into a sale. As far as online stores, I've used Absolute Music, GAK, Gear4music, and effectpowersupplies.com and they were all great. I had a problem with an amp from GAK a few months after buying it, so they collected it, got it repaired, and sent it back within a week! effectpowersupplies were incredibly helpful when I tried to buy an out of stock item. Haven't dealt with customer services on the others. Digital Village (DV247.com) on the other hand, I would avoid like the plague. I made a large order with them a couple of years ago, and spent the next few months being messed around with items not being in stock, then being in stock, then not again. They wouldn't even split my order into things that were or weren't available and kept lying about when they were due to receive them. I cancelled the order in the end and got a refund, which in all fairness I didn't have to wait long for.

That Floyd does go on a bit doesn't he
24. After a bit of digging.. “We used a clean DI, a Reddi DI, and a clean bass sound using a Markbass head, with 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. And an old Marshall 80s bass head, panned left to right—one side has an Animato pedal, on the other side, a Big Muff. That is Chris [Wolstenholme]’s sound. Between songs, we’d change pedals out, and send another pedal thru DI, or a digital-sounding amp with a close and bright sound." http://www.emusician.com/artists/0767/muse/149550 And on his twitter @_Storage_ Used to use Marshall DBS but have recently switched to Markbass http://twitter.com/CTWolstenholme/status/244094978408726529
25.
Swapped those to the Ampeg SVT210 AV's and I'm just as happy, only I don't have the horrible low/low-mid bass rumble from having ports, plus they aren't heavy, but not as loud but plenty loud enough.
Interesting.. I get the low/low-mid rumble on some stages. Does using a sealed cab completely eradicate this?
