1. If the amp broke while you were using it I'm afraid not dude. Hopefully it won't be an expensive repair!
2.
Is this the 6 ohm cab or 4? What sorta monies you looking for? Cheers Si
Pretty sure the 6x10s are 6 ohms dude
3. Really wanted a TC Electronics Nova Dynamics myself... But it's 12V, and I wanted to stick to a single 9V supply. Ended up getting the Aguilar TLC, and it's never left me wanting anything else! I use it to keep my output volume level, and I use pretty heavy settings on it, and it doesn't affect my tone in any way. The perfect compressor for me
4. That's pretty awesome to be fair. Looks like more of an ornamental piece than an actual player though, so if you actually wanted one you might as well buy a cheap one and actually burn it
5. I know it's all too common for people to recommend something they're using themselves... But try and get hold of a Marshall Jackhammer! It sounds great on bass with low or high gain settings, has a 2 band EQ and an adjustable mid scoopy contour thing going on. Would pair well with your BDI21
6. Awesome to see how happy you are with your rig dude My 104HF is the best, but I've always been intrigued by the CL series... they do look pretty sexy too!
7.
As I've said before, nobody needs a tuner. If people can tell you're out of tune then you're not using enough effects.
Brilliant! I'm going to live my life by this from now on
8. I use 8 pedals, one of which is a tuner. I've never had anybody come up and compliment me on being in tune every song so does that mean I shouldn't use it?
9.
Isn't Trace Elliott just a fancy term for muddy plonk? At least that's all I ever managed to get out of them. But then again, they were the amps in the college rehearsal rooms, which are a bit of an amp graveyard.
My experiences precisely! Then again I tried some fancy 8x10 stacky thing in PMT once and it was exactly the same, just louder!
10. Nice one Shep! Is there anything you don't know about effects? Jason, I love my Sansamp but I mostly use it for low gain settings and a bit of tone shaping... I find it gets a bit noisy at more extreme levels! I have a second drive pedal and a fuzz after it when I want some real filth You may also want to try putting drive pedals before the chorus/flange, most people prefer how they work that way and you might too!
11. Have you only got the one cab at the moment? If so I would start by turning my rig into a full stack! That might satisfy you enough to not spend any more of your lovely pennies
12. Welcome dude! Hope you get some luck selling your bass soon.. Though you may end up buying more than you sell like the rest of us!
13. Ibanez SR series seem to make very popular 6 string models. The amount of SR506's i've seen metal players using is incredible! Peavey basses just do it for me though
14.
I don't know whether I'm more surprised that James Lomenzo has bespoke faeces or that said faeces have a maple board!
Brilliant
15.
+1 I've done a little recording with my five since I got it, always get comments about whether or not that extra string is needed. It's there if you DO need it, surely?
Plenty of songs played on a 4 string don't use all of the strings but you dont see 2 string basses all that often
16. You sir, are totally nuts! I paid £899 for my 104HF and it was worth every penny. Someone's going to be covered in sex wee when they buy it!
17. Seen quite a few guitar based demos of it. Totally goes over my head how it can actually learn the behaviour of the amps it's profiling and reproduce the sounds down to a T! You could borrow any rig for a couple of hours and essentially keep it inside that clever litle box... Amazing!
18.
How the he'll did you manage to get permission to build a fake Sue Ryder P body?
You git, I just laughed like a moron at this
19. I like all my basses to sound the same, and with my passive peaveys, the brighter the strings the better! I like to have as much of everything as possible and if I need less, roll down the treble a bit. It's easier to take something that is there away, than to put something there that isn't! So I always use stainless steel strings. FWIW flats sound beastly on a MM bass. Never heard them of a Warwick but you should try it! I always thought they were a bit 'hot' anyway, maybe some nice flats will tame them
20. Ive always been a passive guy, out of the basses I've owned the active ones had less of a mid punch, and more glassy highs. Volume hasn't ever been a noticeable issue. Never bothered with onboard EQ either, as I have pedals and an amp if I really need to alter things drastically. Usually unless engaging/disengaging an effect, the only change I make is slightly turning down the tone on the bridge pickup. Also, batteries are a PITA!
21.
Do Newtone make flats? Couldn't see any evidence on the website.
I'm almost certain that they don't, but all it takes is a quick email to be sure
22. The Markbass heads are amazing, even 250w should be powerful enough. The MiBass I haven't yet heard, so I would probably stick with what I know (they dont look as cool to me either;)) although they get rave reviews! Obviously has more than twice the power of the LM250, not sure how much of an effect that would have on the output if any...
23. The ultimate justificationfor succumbing to GAS: I need a bass for every tuning I/my band use! (and at a stretch, a backup for each )
24. Looks awesome and a great idea. They could have set it up before demoing it though The bass and the player both sound awful in this video!
