1.
...you can't really fake a badass (can you?)
Yes
2. I don't know much about this sort of thing... But I would be willing to trust this seller on the basis that the other two basses that he sold in April quite clearly has Fender decals, but were quite openly being sold as modified Squiers Nevertheless, someone in the know will pop in soon enough I'm sure!

Hi All

Welcome Alan! Bass players make for awesome dads... (or is it the other way round? ) Something to do with being a supporting role?
4. Line 6 wireless stuff is bloody awesome, just saying
5.
Unless they're spec'ing power ratings!
And frequency response!
6.
My 4 string cost me £50 (including gigbag). That's the only bass I have. The rest of my bass-related kit consists of a Behringer BDI21 and a Korg Pitchblack tuner, making the tuner the most expensive item in my "rig".
Damn I think we have a winner!
7. You're all so bloody extravagant! My 4 string cost me £50, the 5 was £100, and the 6 was a whopping £250!
8. Never owned an expensive bass. I've tried specimens in all different price brackets. Vintage stuff, modern stuff, boutique stuff, budget stuff... Nothing has ever pleased me like my Peaveys though so they're the only basses I have at the moment! Stingray's I just can't get on with. Warwicks feel to big and are way too sensitive to touch. Ibanez's feel good but they sound a bit artificial to my ears, same goes for Yamaha! All great basses and sound amazing in the right hands and paired with the right equipment... but not for me!
9. Oh phew! I hope it's not true though as they're bloody good value and dead quiet! And surely it's greener than having a pedalboard full of batteries!
10. I didn't even know they made heads
11.
i heard that this was to do with new EU regs on power consumption... is this true or bollocks ?
I hope that doesn't mean they're unsafe!
12. I think he means that when he plugs his bass in he gets too much of a sharp attack
13. You could try remotely hosting the pictures on Photobucket, then instead of uploading them to here, just use the 'Image' tool, enter the URL of the image, and voila! Lots more photos
14.
It's what I got told by the bass guy in Mansons - apologies for relaying professional advice, I wasn't to know it was incorrect!
I've been caught out in the same way about things in the past... I only trust what the manufacturer has to say about any piece of equipment now!
15. I think I should level the playing field a bit and name a few UK shops I have had STELLAR customer service from: www.gak.co.uk www.andertons.co.uk www.effectpowersupplies.com www.gear4music.com www.stringbusters.com www.stringsdirect.com
16. Glad to hear your health is improving Shep I am always reading about bass players having back problems and the like, and I thank my lucky stars every day that I have never been there myself! A lot of it has to do with getting advice from fellow players, and all the amazing lightweight gear that's been made available to us in recent years. Anyways, great thread! It's surely gonna help a lot of people, maybe myself one day!
17. The last bass I tried out in PMT was a very nice looking Ibanez BTB 4 string. The strings and fretboard were black with grime, the action was high enough to put your hand underneath the 12th fret, and the pots were painfully crackly. For some reason when the sales assistant asked me what I thought of it, he got offended and ignored me until I left EDIT: It was being sold as NEW
18.
Very true, having worked with the public, some can be particularly bad - and I usually found this behaviour to be in more affluent areas for some reason. The rougher the area, the behaviour directed towards us always seemed to be better.
I guess in places where money isn't as easily to come by, people are more appreciative of customers! I wouldn't say Stoke was PARTICULARLY poor, but it's not the poshest of places. I've generally had positive experiences every time I've set foot in a music shop here, whether I had money to spend or not
19. The problem is that you went into PMT. They employ such trolls.
20. It's amazing how much someone can tell about a particular instrument if they know enough about them! Looking at it myself the only conclusion I came to was that it looked like a Ric, and that it actually looks pretty sweet in green
21.
My point being that, on some basses, and according to how much zing you wanted, you could start with new strings and the treble knocked down, and compensate for the ageing of the strings with the tone controls, effectively extending the life of the strings.
I do this with the VLE on my Markbass F1!
22.

Amazingly enough looking at Machines' sig, he's still using the same amp!
23. They look really cool to me actually! I'm guessing 'Exclusive' is Frudua's 'entry level' line. Definitely worth a shot i'm sure!
24. Yeah my first 6 string was awful for that, after playing for any extended period of time I'd get awful hand and wrist pain
