1. So far for me it has to be Opposites by Biffy Clyro, though i haven't heard Like Clockwork yet. Love Lost Faith + Dreams by 30 Seconds To Mars is also sounding brilliant to me so far (I'm only halfway through it as i type this). Liam
2. If i stick with my Nano i'll be strapping a Diago MicroPower9 under it. I think the GigRig stuff would fit but it's excessive for such a tin board. Liam
3. It would have to be the BDI-21 for me, it's the main component to getting my tone at the moment. Liam
4. That's beyond excessive, seeing as the guitar strings have only gone up a max of 16%. I may have to try xilddx's suggestion of Cleartone EMPs when i'm next due for a change. Liam
5. This is going to put it at about £20 for guitar strings, £40 for 4 string sets and £50 for 5 string sets. I just started using them last month and i don't know whether it's worth carrying on using them now. I might grab a 5 string set before the end of the month because they'll last years with the amount i use it. Liam
6. Brilliant idea. How many other forums would you find someone doing this sort of thing? Liam
7. Currently trying out Elixir Nanowebs on my Fender and they're sounding good so far. I'm going to stick a set on my 5 string when i have some money. They should sound better than the 20 month old Ernie Balls which are currently on there. A bit more expensive (double the price) than what i'm used to but hopefully they last like they're supposed to. Liam
8. If you don't mind lugging it around, a volume control does go up as well as down. A friend of mine gigs with an 810 in pubs no problem, and his twin brother on guitar uses a 412. Never been too loud when i've seen them. Liam
9. Had a set of Elixirs on my main bass for a few weeks and i'm liking them so far, though next time i think i may try the stainless steel ones, as i do like a very bright tone. The nickels are still bright, but not entirely what i want, though they do sound good. Liam
10. A pint or two of cider and something to eat, Kebab, Pizza or KFC always goes down nicely post-gig for me, though most of the time it ends up being a pint of water and a bowl of rice krispies. Liam
11. There isn't any problem at all, if it sounds good, it sounds good. 2 of the pedals i've used most over the past few years were guitar OD/Distortion pedals. Liam
12. In my head, it's when cash is exchanged, so buying an album, t shirt, gig ticket, that sort of thing, because that to me shows that you're willing to put your hard earned cash into listening to a particular band, and they're not just a band what you'll listen to when they come on the radio. Liam
13. I got 13 out of 14, but my the answers i chose were the best 2, so i didn't do too bad. Liam
14. Our Helical Mind feature masses of effects work from BC'er Shep (Pantherairsoft) who's mahoosive pedalboard you've probably seen if you've looked at the pedalboard thread. Liam
15. I'm definately going to go and find that on Catch Up tonight. I've not been watching it much lately, 'cause i got out of my routine when i finished work. Liam
16.
Just found out, they only did 150 worlwide
And i know the guy that has #4 of those 150. They are beautiful basses, there's no doubt about that. Lia,
17. I've got it on at the moment, brilliant as usual so far, but i think they may've played Grenade just that bit too fast. The gearstalker in me wasn't expecting to see a Mesa Boogie stack back there either, looks like an M Pulse and 2 PH410's i think. Liam
18. The Hillsboro's are lovely basses to play IMO. I used a Hillsboro J at a college audition i once did and although it needed a set up, it felt nice and balanced really well. I have mad gas for the Eric Bass model at the moment. Liam
19. All of those do pretty good approximations of a Stingray, and the actual Musicman SUB Basses (Not the new Sterling by Musicman SUB ones) are some of the best you can get for that kind of price. I've also been told that the Dean Hillsboro does a pretty a good approximation too, but haven't had chance to try one myself yet. Liam
20. 2 crackers i once saw, from a band we were supporting. "One two, one two, one two three four five, once i caught a fish alive etc..." and the other one, the guy just shouted Freestyle and went into a 30 second improvised rap. Liam
21. I ordered some bits n bobs from them last Tuesday, at about 2pm. 10:30 on Wednsday morning they turned up at my door. Now that's what i call damn good service. Liam
22. This should cover a lot of what you're after: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/205633-in-ear-monitors-help-needed/ Liam
23. A quick search is telling me that it's out of stock everywhere except possibly GigRig, but whether they have them there or they're sent from an external source i have no idea. Liam
24. A few years back my band played in Standard, Drop D, D Standard and Drop C. We each had our own methods, lead guitarist just tuned up and down as necessary. The rhythm guitarist swapped between D standard and Drop C, then used a capo for the E standard and Drop D stuff, then i just went the complete lazy method and got a 5 string. If i didn't use a 5, i'd have gone for multiple basses for certain. It makes more sense, and it's easier. Means you've always got a spare too. Liam
25. Shouldn't have any problems using that combination at all. I expect it might sound rather nice as well, but nobody knows that unless they've tried it. What Mr Foxen above me says is true though. A pair of vertically stacked 2x10s will be better than a 4x10, but people still use 4x10's and like them so... Liam
