I'm always interacting with someone when i'm on stage. Whether that's another bend member, or usually the crowd as there's no room 'on stage' so i end up somewhere else. I like simplicity when i'm gigging, so i can put all my focus on putting on a good show and not playing everything absolutely perfectly or which effect do i need next. Liam

My theory has always been that bass is easier to start but harder to master. I know a few people who agree with me on that too. Liam

I'm a righty but i sometimes debate on whether to get a lefty bass and learn to play that too. Partly because it'd be a challenge and partly because i could really f*ck with peoples minds on stage. I think it would be an intereresting spin (quite literally) on my bass playing and a bit of fun to try. Liam

I'll give another +1 to getting everything you need from Ki0gon. He did me a loom for my Ibanez (which although i had to do some drilling) is absolutely outstanding workmanship. All top quality parts for a bargain price. Liam

Behringer did have a name for themselves as being a bit sh*t, but i think that's slowly dissapearing since they introduced the X32 line and people realised that they can make a damn good product at a brilliant price point. Liam

New Line 6 Relay G55 is due on sale in the next few months, or alternatively, you could look at the V75TR models. They're the vocal version for the lavalier mics, but you can buy both bits separate from places such as Thomann with ease, and it's a half rack receiver. 14 channels too. Another random thought, could you not leave one of the rack bolts out, and run a George L/Lava/Diago/etc... solderless cable through the hole that the missing rack bolt has left? The cables are small enough, especially the Diago ones. Liam

Pub gigs we do mostly covers to draw out the crowds, but always throw in some originals just to get them out there. Plus it's a lot easier to make up a few sets worth of covers than write 2 sets worth of original stuff. Anything bigger than pubs, especially when it's time limited (30-45mins usually) it's all originals with a cover or two thrown in for a bit of fun. A friends band used to do the same thing, and then they branched off into 2 seperate bands, one for the pub covers gigs (Where they still throw in an original or two) and another for anything bigger which is almost exclusively originals. People go out and see both as they know it's the same guys and they're going to get a good night, whichever name they're gigging under. Liam

The reason i'm not currently gigging is because my bands lead guitarist is Cornwall until summer, though we intend to start rehearsing when we can in the next few months, so that when he returns we'll be pretty much ready to get straight back in to it. Liam

For consistent quality during pretty much every era of Fender, you can't beat the japanese models. I absolutely love mine. Any idea what year yours is? There's a japanese fretless jazz at work that i need to try and get my hands on sometime soon. Liam

Black with a white guard just looks cheap and tacky to me, even if it is a Stingray or something similarly/more expensive. I don't like black basses without a pickguard often either. Black jazz, BWB pickguard with a blocked and bound maple board = cool. Liam

I used to use tabs all the time, as that's what i was shown when i started and i began to rely on them. Nowadays i end up either figuring stuff out when i'm just sat messing around with it, watching stuff on youtube or watching what our rhythm guy is playing at a rehearsal and going off that. I will occasionally use a tab as a last resort, but i try not to anymore. Liam

I've used wireless systems at a few gigs, and wonder how i survive without them. The freedom it gives you to roam around and not get tangled up is just brilliant.

I'm rarely ever thinking about the notes when i play. The stuff i do is all simple so it's just muscle memory, and leaves my brain to ponder what to buy from the bar after the set or how i'm going to get home. I could probably name them if i wanted to, but i don't need to so i rarely think about it, just play. Liam
