1. If you don't mind buying used i'd go for a s/h Japanese P bass off here. Failing that, the Squier stuff should be a good safe bet, just try before you buy of course. Liam
2. Circle Studios in (i believe) Birmingham, where BC's own Rimskidog resides should be worth a look. Liam
3. Most answers on here will be OBBM, because his stuff isn't ridiculously priced, and it's all absolute top notch quality. Liam
4. Either one for me, i'm not bothered. I just plug in and go. I don't usually end up staying in my 'spot' anyway, end up either on the other side with the guitarist, or somewhere in the crowd trying not to get anyone tangled in a cable. Liam
5. Sound City (Dave Grohls documentary about the studio of the same name) was on the BBC over the weekend, and is currently on iPlayer. Liam
6.
No Firewire interface, so I'll avoid the Saffire then... Looked good as well. Quite impressed with the Lexicon Omega, even though it's bundled with an older version of Cubase LE (4), have seen a couple of the larger UK retailers selling them off at a reasonable price for what you get. OK, so I do realise that this means that the product will no doubt be discontinued in the not too distant future, but even so, it still seems like a good deal. Plus I've used an older version of Cubase, so should be at least a teensy bit familiar with it (in theory of course!). Time to raid the piggy bank (again).
My Lexicon Alpha was said to include Cubase LE4 (Even on the box) but it came with 5 so that might be the same situation. Liam
7. Just got a set of Elixirs for a darn good price off Pete. Less than 24 hours from initial conversation to them arriving. Now that's a good service. Liam
8. Most USB interfaces come with a DAW, either ProTools LE or Cubase LE usually. A favourite of mine is the Focusrite Scarlett series, though they don't come with a DAW bundled. A lifetime licence of Reaper is under £50 though, and i prefer using that over some of the other 'professional' ones. Liam
9. I get it occasionally. Usually when i'm playing without a pick for long periods of time. Only takes a few seconds of not playing for it to go away for me though. Liam
10. Realistic Sound Engine. Not too sure where to find it myself on GP6 though, i'm still on 5. Liam
11. Stingray (Though not sure on 4 or 5 string) with maple board, Line 6 V75TR (x2), Pod HD Pro X and StageSource L3T, and a Rocktron All Access, oh and some sort of fretless. That's all what's on the list at the moment, for bass gear anyway. Liam
12. Dunlop Tortex .73 over here too. Perfect amount of flex and clickyness for my liking, and cheap as chips too. Liam
13. A brilliant amp through a rubbish cab will sound rubbish. A rubbish amp through a brilliant cab, you can usually get a decent enough sounding noise out of. That's my experience anyway. Liam
14. I've only met 3 i think, and never deliberately, though all were lovely chaps. I do need to one day head to bashes or other local BC'ers gigs (Which i've probably already done and not known about). Liam
15. The only ones i can think of are the rack units (Line 6 POD HD Pro, Avid Eleven Rack, Fractal Axe FX, etc...) which have a stereo input that can be set this way pretty easily. Liam
16. I think your best bet will be a Line 6 POD unit. Current range are i believe the HD series though i think only the top model rack version (HD Pro X) has an XLR output. Liam
17. Stingray for me. I find them more comfortable and the sound is what i'm after, though my main bass is a Precision at the moment, so.... Liam
18. I usually find the chords somewhere online (though my ears are getting better) or off one of our guitarists and make something relatively similar from that. If the original bass part is a large part of the song i'll pull up a guitar pro tab from somewhere and get a rough idea of what it is. Liam
19. Blackstar HT-1R or HT-5R would be my choice. Brilliant little amps, and can put out a fair amount of noise if you ever wanted them to. Liam
20. With 'em on you have less space to pluck the string, something else to catch a knuckle on, and more shiny stuff, and that's about it i think. Liam
21. Low for me. Not quite the whole Rob Trujillo, but still quite low. My picking arm is slightly bent and i can comfortably access the first 15 or so frets on any string. My 5 string i have a few inches higher than that 'cause it makes life a bit easier when playing that, and the strap wont let me wear it any lower. When i sit down i usually play more classical guitar style, it's a bit easier on the wrists. Liam

Pedal power

Depends on how much you spend. One of the best going appears to be the GigRig stuff. You'd need a Generator and 2 Distributors, which would be about £170, but would power anything you throw at it. Liam
23. Depends what you class as silly money. The Line 6 Relay G30 is little over £200 now, even cheaper if you can find one used on here, or wait for post-christmas sales. Liam
24. 3 years, 6 months and 16 days since I last broke a string, which was just as we were going to start our set at a pub festival. Liam
25. I'm not at all happy with my playing at the moment. I've got quite lazy musically with my band taking all this time off, and been focusing on photography more than music, and my playing has really suffered from it. Time to get myself back up to scratch i think. I was even struggling with the groove for Valerie the other day, which was annoying. Liam
