1.
I thought they were more out Acton way (I lived in Acton and worked in the Bush/White City for years)
He went to the same school as my wife. It was called Acton County when John was there. When my wife went, the name was changed to Reynolds High School. It is now called Acton High School.
2. This any help? https://www.bigbasstabs.com/blues_brothers_bass_tabs/she_caught_the_katy.html
3.
Stretching the definition of punk a little but ... The Jam, bruce foxton is a standout player.
Oh yes. Check out the albums Sound Affects and Setting Sons for some Foxton plectrum powered bass pleasure.
4. Another vote for the D5. I have a rather weak voice, but the D5 has a nice deep sound to it, which fills it out a bit. But the SM 58 doesn't seem to give me that.
5. Some bloke tried to talk to me while I was singing and got the right hump when I didn't answer him.
6. The girl who plays sax in The Zutons is quite cute.
7. I was at The Royal Albert Hall last night as the much loved and respected Bootleg Beatles with the Liverpool Philharmonic performed the whole album live from start to finish, 50 years to the day it came out. Standout moments for me were She's Leaving Home, and the 'George Harrison' performing Within You Without You on Sitar with a tabla player. Bloody brilliant night. http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/music/812076/The-Beatles-Stg-Peppers-Lonely-Hearts-Club-Band-Royal-Albert-Hall-tribute-band
8. Bernard Purdie? Was he the drummer who swears blind that it was him not Ringo on all The Beatles recordings??
9.
It's just that I struggle to think of this as a 1958 Fender Precision ...
He's got a picture of it! - What more do you want!!
10. I bought an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV on a whim a few years back. The one with the USA pick ups. I had to buy a special gigbag to put it in as standard shaped ones would not fit. I gigged it a few times but found the neck a bit to narrow for my liking. It had quite a nice tone but like Roger2611 ^ I also sold it after a few months and went back to a P Bass.
11. I hope you stopped them before they went on to do Brown Eyed Girl and Sweet Home Alabama!!
12. The Beatles - Hey Bulldog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg4STdxRg-4
13. Played a pub in West Drayton near Heathrow Airport for the first time. After the first number there was complete silence followed by a solitary voice yelling "Turn the juke box back on!"
14. I am a shift worker, but as long as I am given a few weeks notice I can juggle things around so as can do the gig. Last minute gigs are a no go.
15. I would say the 2 tone music of the late seventies and early eighties. Madness were a great influence. Later, the plectrum powered basslines of Bruce Foxton became the main reason I picked up the bass.
16. Why is it that when a guitarist asks you if he can have a go on your bass, they always try to play a solo up at the 12th fret, get bored and hand it back saying the neck is too wide??
17. I had my P Bass leaning on the sofa when I had someone round to service the washing machine. "Is that the Nate Mendel" he said and went to pick it up. I told him not to touch it as I had just reset the neck, and was letting it settle. He soon got the message.
18.
What a cockwomble. I'd have shown him the door pronto...
But make sure he reads the meter first.
19.
When I was young, there were jokes about the Polish, referred to as "Polacks", inferring that they were stupid. Years later they morphed into hair color jokes, referred to as "blonds", usually of the female persuation. Why were there no "Brit" jokes on this side of the pond? Sometimes you folks are so funny. I know in WW2 you had plenty of "Yank" jokes. "Over paid, over sexed and over here".
20.
Que?
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264928-here-comes-kanye-at-glasto/page__hl__glastonbury
21.
Well since you've made no effort to provide any context, nobody has a clue what your criteria are. What's to stop you making exactly the same remark ad infinitum? In fact, if I were of a cynical disposition I might start wondering whether this has anything to do with guitarists or bassists at all. I might go further and wonder whether this isn't just a pot-stirring exercise...
Lets not forget the OP's famous Kanye West thread. Haters gonna hate!
22.
Before 1st and 2nd set and most times when i tune up the second time its still in tune.
+1 I never have to keep tuning my basses, they all hold their tuning well. They may slip a micro tone but no bugger notices including me.
23. George Harrison played bass on a few Beatle tracks. Edit - Oh! and Adele is quite handy on the bass too.
24.
I got sacked from a carpentry job because I was underpaid and the job they expected me to wasn't in my job description. Does that count? :-)
Only if you were sacked from The Carpenters.
