1.
Hi, I will go and try one of those as im not too many miles away from Glasgow can i ask why you got rid of yours? Many thanks, Ben
I didnt really need it. Most of the stuff I do can be easily done on a four string. And I needed the cash
2.
Jaco is not known for playing fast or for playing a lot of notes. He's known for being fatastic. Please tell me your under 60 years of age. Blue
Oh yes.... A bit
3. Weather Report. Everyone loves Jaco, but as far as I,m concerned it just bores me shitless. How many notes can you play, and how fast? (yawn)
4. Have a look at the SUB Ray 5. Very good for the money, I used to have one it was well made and easy to play. https://www.guitar.co.uk/sterling-by-music-man-sub-ray5-walnut-satin
5. I once played a gig with the drummer who played on Lucky Number by Lena Lovitch.
6. Motorhead and Girlschools version of Johnny Kidds Please Dont Touch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOpx61okWTk
7. You could have a look at one of these. Its idiot proof. I should know, I have one!! https://reverb.com/uk/item/4660908-xvive-xb1-bass-squeezer-pedal-by-jamie-mallender-dark-red?gclid=CjwKCAjwt8rMBRBOEiwA2F2biMgvgmkNH5gT8idbb1R9Qftvi-wE7aW2J5WQ5-x75VRkJP5JUm59nRoCCTwQAvD_BwE&pla=1
8. Its just taken me 40 years to realise that this is the same tune as Dont Cry For Me Argentina with different words! I must get out more.
9. I used to look like this in 1987. Funnily enough, the bass looks exactly the same as it did back then but I,m 3 stone heavier and no longer have the one chin.
10. Thats gonna give me nightmares tonight!
11. The Affinity's are cheap like the budgie. Cheap hardware, pickups etc. You get what you pay for. They are OK for beginners but I would spend the extra on the VM rather than an entry level bass. The VM's have a good rep and are well built with better quality parts.
12. I use Ernie Ball Reg Slinkies. I like the heavier G string. (.50 I believe it is)
13. I have the Nate Mendel P bass. Not because I am a fan of his. Its just a great bass which I like the look and the playability of. But that is the limit of my foray into signature instruments. I did like the look of the Sting bass until I saw that stupid 12th fret inlay.
14. Yes. I have one. I have had my guitar tech modify the preamp so its not as hot. Sounds great.
15. Having been oohing and ahing about getting my self a compressor, I have got myself one of these little beauties. Apparently its idiot proof so thats me sorted. It has an overdrive built in as well. At only £37.00 I,m not expecting a lot but, I'll give it a go. http://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/xvive-b1-bass-squeezer-bass-compressor-pedal?source=googleps&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-ezKBRCGwqyK0rHzmvkBEiQAu-_-LOI_cF7aOygt5VIpu_J_CT0Tt_9orbNn6p9upOadat8aAk518P8HAQ
16. The Theme from Taggart. Maggie Bell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTSOx_xrXYw
17. The Manic Street Preachers did a great version of the theme from M*A*S*H. Carol Kaye played on the original TV Show theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y11f8Oc25AI
18. Congratubassions. Incidentally, I also got married at Ealing Town Hall registry office a few years back.
19. I have an Indonesian made CMD 121 with the extension cab and they are deffo top quality.
20. Anyone use a compressor? I am thinking about getting one to give a tighter, punchier sound but I haven't used one before. Anyone got any tips or are they just a bit of a waste of money?
21. The keyboard player has missed a few cues and come in late a few times. Still, this is live music, if you want perfection listen to the records.
22. Bought some Fender straps and straplocks from David, Top seller will use again.
23. Anything by Status Quo is good. Caroline is a well known number. We also do Blockbuster by Sweet, very simple and great crowd pleaser. Highway To Hell Ac/DC also simple and effective.
24. I dabbled a bit with flats a while back. The band I,m in plays some trebley, pick powered Thin Lizzy type stuff, and some old school thump like Free and early Purple. I could not get a set of flats to replicate the twangy stuff accurately enough. I now roll the tone off and stick a bit of sponge under the bridge if I want the flats type thump on my Ernie Ball regular slinkies.
25. I got to the bit about gay priests before I gave up.
