1. I hate the high tension and feel of flats. When I first started playing bass in the early 1980's flats had all but been superseded by rounds. I did try a set of flats a few years ago just to see what they were like, but took them off after a few days and went back to rounds. Incidentally, I bought a Limelight 63 P Bass off of Discreet last summer which he had fitted with La Bellas. I took them off and posted them back to him. He was most pleased.
2. Early Madness circa 1979/80. the first two albums were always on my record player when I was 15. Great melodies and jaunty songs. Lost interest in them when Driving In my Car came out. I thought they sold out.
3. I must confess to being an owner of a lightly reliced Limelight. Anything like that Strat above is far too much. (Unless you are in a Rory Gallagher tribute band)
4.
In that case there are more 'great' bass players around than I thought. Keep trying to justify her greatness ad nauseum people...
Yes! You dont rate her. We get it!
5. Oh dear. It looks like another Adam Clayton thread in the making.
6.
Not in Milwaukee
I dont get it
7. Didnt she marry the drummer?
8. Fender Mustang short scale I think.
9. My lot want to do a cover of Figure It Out, but as its all done on bass with a plethora of effects, I'm not sure how we can rearrange it for two guitars and bass. How did you guys make it work in a band situation?
10. George Harrisons version of 'Got My Mind Set On You.' I didnt know it was a cover, I thought he had written it himself.
11.
Not just A drummer. She was usually THE drummer. A bloody good one, too.
Wow! Thanks for posting that!
12. Yesterday Once More by The Carpenters. Karen Carpenter was a drummer apparently. I didn't know that.
13. Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon. A secret cheesefest.
14. Oh yes! A great, powerful rig but small enough to fit in the boot of a Ford Fiesta.
15. Johnny Depp. Although not widely known for his bass playing, he is definitely cool!
16.
Has anyone actually opened one in your area in recent years ?
No. Just the opposite. We have lost 2 in my part of West London in the last year.
17.
Do these have a nitro finish?
I believe so.
18. Jet Harris was cool nearly sixty years ago.
19. Is that a C neck profile?
20. Have you got a Lemonrock page?
21. I have had a couple of Mexican P Basses and they were OK. My Nate Mendel however, knocks the spots off some US Fenders.
22. Blimey! Those sharp edges could have someones eye out!
23.
There are occasions when they can be a bit too much. Did you not find turning the volume down a bit got you in the same territory as a normal P? The QPs are so loud that even if you back off a bit they're still loud enough, but they get a bit more into traditional P territory and lose some of that heavy thump.
Hmmm, not really. I had to play a wide range of covers with a varied set of tones. I found it easier to get a more vintage sounding pickup and experiment a bit with effects etc, than to try and harness and tame the QP.
24. Well, he couldnt play it but he sure could hold it!!
