1.
LOL! That is my bass I found it via google images and I was like... "when did I post it on basschat??!?"
Sorry mate. BTW you havent got the badass bridge on it. Did you not like it? Edit. I re read the post from last year. Sorry mate. BTW have you seen what these are going for now?? https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-nate-mendel-p-bass-candy-apple-red/75186?gclid=Cj0KEQiA6_TBBRDInaPjhcelt5oBEiQApPeTF8i47Z14HWdvavUUAhnTYhbYmukqOFi10eIVIL4mGJAaAsAX8P8HAQ
2. There has been a lot of recent publicity regarding the 25th anniversary of the mandolin bothering 'Losing My Religion' and its parent album Out Of Time. I have just been watching a Late Show repeat from 1991 on the BBC iPlayer where the bespectacled bass master Mike Mills switches to keyboards and Drummer Bill Berry takes over on bass on Half A World Away. They split up at the right time I guess, but I,m off to dust of my old vinyl LP's for a trip down memory lane.
3. Oh no! My Local station is Adam Clayton.
4.
+1. A very under rated bassist. For anyone new to blues bass, all you need to do is listen to his contribution on the John Mayall "Beano" album (John Mayall & Eric Clapton).
And he was barely 20 - 21 when he made that record.
5.
Check out the TGI Extreme - I paid £37 from Bassgear, but I'm not sure they do them now they are online only.
Another vote for the TGI. Good padded gigbag.
6.
Thanks, I saw those videos before, but I don't want to tamper with truss rod, after seeing my wife snap the string last night when tuning i realise how fragile they are!
I never let my wife anywhere near my basses or my strings.
7.
Thanks, And I'm fully aware I can be a bit of a "stick in the mud" on certain topics and issues Blue
Get yourself a plane ticket to the UK. We'll soon sort you out!!!
8. I like the telecaster bass.
9. My cats name is Mittens.
10. Never done it. Always tuned straight to pitch and they seem to stay there.
11. Peter Cooks shop in Hanwell has recently closed down and been converted into flats.
12. I always wanted one as a kid. (The stylophone I mean, not a visit from Rolf Harris')
13.
You may place me on Colin's "Ignore List" if your little hearts desire, or Ban Me From The Kingdom... But I think the trick here is to not accuse women of lying unless you have some proof. And British people should know better. Why does a Canadian have to come all this way to teach you some manners. Especially someone as accomplished as Carol Kaye. Laddies, if you do it again.. I'll be back...!
Hi, welcome back. Your Canadian now are you??
14. Leon's version of Jumping Jack Flash at the Concert for Bangladesh was incredible. And the little story he told about his lady at home in bed while he goes out on the town always makes me smile. He also played bass for Bob Dylan as well in that concert. What a guy! RIP Leon.
15. Not really a Jazz bass fan but this a beauty! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Limelight-64-Jazz-bass-guitar-in-Candy-Apple-Red-/192029017151?hash=item2cb5d2443f:g:V5MAAOSwiylXBrnN
16.
Epiphone is definitely not Gibson but Fender do put the Fender logo onto Squier guitars. I guess they have determined that the uplift in sales to the Squier line, is more valuable than the potential devaluing of the Fender brand name. Yeah I agree though, its annoying when you do eg eBay searches specifically for a Fender, to have lots of false positives with Squiers where the advertiser has been enthusiastic and slightly too keen, and included Fender in the title.
I agree. Do a search for Fender and watch the carefully phrased heading titles.
17. It was always 'Squier by Fender' Still is.
18. I tried a Jazz bass a few times and always went back to a P. I found the neck too narrow at the nut. I always ran both pickups wide open too. Not really a fan. Horses for courses.
19. I believe Stickman is based in Chiswick. So I guess maybe Chiswick Park or Turnham Green on the district line.
20.
Well the website hasn't gone entirely. I think that makes you an unsecured creditor, it's still worth dropping them a note to find out where you stand .
Cheers, Will do.
21. Love this version from Later With Jools. Note the guitarist screw up the solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibjTycdj9g4
22. The Unfortunate thing for me, is that back in the summer they sold a guitar on my behalf and after they took their cut they offered me the choice of taking the cash or leaving the money as credit for strings, setups etc. I wont see that again.
23. Another shop in West London closed. Where can I go now? http://www.chandlerguitars.co.uk/
24.
The guitarist in my last band had a knock-off RB 6-string. He changed the pickups and you couldn't tell the difference between that and the real thing. Why are the originals £1500? Because people don't know any better.
Also, probably the reason why companies like Limelight can put out a pukka looking and sounding vintage bass for a fraction of a genuine USA one. It looks the part and sounds the part and every ones a winner!
25. I was asked to dep in a Country/Irish band a few years ago. I got bored shitless Root/Fiffing - so I gave it a bit of welly and was told off for overplaying and ruining the feel of the song. Once I reverted back, they were happy as Larry.
