1.
you had to Be Here Now. see what I did there?
Oasis. The band The Beatles could have been.
2. When The Beatles first recorded at Abbey Road, They were not taken that seriously. They where looked down upon by the older generation as disposable kiddies music. As a result the staff didnt try too hard on recording them as they did their seasoned acts on their EMI roster. It wasnt until they became EMI's golden goose that they where taken seriously.
3. Strangely enough, Its The Beatles 'Come Together' that irks me. While its not difficult to play, I cant get that slide up to the top D to sound smoothly.

5. I,ll wait for the dvd. Incidentally, This thread reminds me of my other barrel scraping thread from a few years back. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/218556-bottom-of-the-barrel-scraping-beatles/page__p__2228790__hl__bottom%20of%20the%20barrel__fromsearch__1#entry2228790
6.
Slightly later than One Step Beyond for me, but one of the first basslines I ever learnt was The Business (B-Side of Baggy Trousers). So many great bass players came out of the 2-Tone scene; Mark Bedford, Horace Panter, David Steele etc..
Oh yes, The Business was an instrumental version of a song called Take It Or Leave It.
7. I have once or twice put some old packs of strings up on here for free to anyone who sends me a self addressed jiffy bag and I put them in the post for them FOC
8. That looks like the same seller who is selling this. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/292032-minty-66-dot-n-bound-jazzbeautiful/page__fromsearch__1
9.
Didn't he play on Wyatt's version of Shipbuilding?
Yes. Quote from Wiki Costello had produced what he described as "the best lyrics I've ever written".[sup][1][/sup] In a 1983 interview with NME, Mark Bedford of Madness, who played stand-up double bass on the single, recounted the history of the song:
10. His playing on the One Step Beyond album inspired me to pick up the bass.
11. Thats great! What year/model is it based on? I know you said 1962 but I assumed it was a typo.
12. As a Limelight owner myself, I think its horrible!
13. I had a Thunderbird I bought on a whim. Didnt like the narrow nut width so I moved it on and went back to my trusty Fender Precision.
14. John Entwhistle. A lot of people think the sun shined out of his arse, but I am not a fan of his clanky twang.
15. I have a pair of these https://www.gak.co.uk/en/vox-amphones-bass-active-bass-guitar-headphones/74158?gclid=Cj0KEQjw9b6-BRCq7YP34tvW_uUBEiQAkK3svcrAciVhPsYA3dZLRPPrqioTQKYPInZK-3jrWiMFdqoaAiI28P8HAQ I plug my ipod through it and its great. Also eliminates the need for a jack lead for me to trip over.
16. I started on bass and picked up the guitar about 8 years later. Hearing how the major and minor chords worked together made me appreciate how bass lines were constructed. Still prefer the bass though.
17. The Chain - Fleetwood Mac One Of These Nights - The Eagles
18. I spent my 50th on a beach in Pafos, Cyprus. I had already planned not to be working or gigging or even in the country on that day.
19. P Bass into Markbass CMD 121 with a New York 12" ext cab
20. The late 70's for me. JJ Burnel and Bruce Foxton with their plectrum powered, almost lead basslines to the fore. No more bass is easy to play and anyone can do it. Right up there in the mix showcasing the power of the bass.
21. The Specials first album was played to death when I was 16
22. There was a topic on here a while back about basschatters buying on here for a good price and then moving them on for a profit. Got rather heated IIRC
23. No. All my basses are strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies. When I buy new or second hand, the original strings come off. Doubly quick if they are flatwounds.
