1. I had to play it once. I used Paul Wolfe's guide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvR_sdtcGPY
2. I love the colour, what is it? - Unfortunately, I already have a Limelight.
3. I tend to use 'cheaper basses' when gigging in rowdy pubs. I no longer have to worry about getting beer thrown over an expensive boutique instrument. Both my Nate Mendel and 90's Squier bitsa are fitted with spb1 pickups, so I have the tone without the worry.
4. Then even do a bass version.
5. Well, It was good enough for The Eagles.
6. 7. Always sitting down, although its a bit difficult on a leather recliner chair not to keep hitting the neck on the arms. I could never see myself standing up in the front room with a Fender Precision strapped on. I would feel such a pillock!
8. It may just be a 'place holder' while he puts a proper ad together.
9. Unless you go the whole hog and become a cover/tribute band of your favourite band and change the sex. I give you The Iron Maidens! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XebvpPtebaI
10.
So what do they call bands in the US that predominantly cover other peoples music then Blue?
I think they are referred to as 'Bar Bands'
11.
It's simple and costs £80. Frank.
Ah, OK, cheers.
12. How would you transfer a personalised plate to another vehicle? - Sounds like there could be a lot of long winded paperwork involved.
13. Along with the "Why are you not playing?" in the verses of Alright Now. Guitarists think the bass and guitar always have to do same things.
14.
This one ???
I would be nervous of taking that Buzzard out to a gig, for the fear of taking someones eye out! http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/bass/bass8602.html
15. Hasn't someone on here got an original and unmolested 1951 Fender Precision? Must be worth a few quid?
16. This sort of thing is why I got a Limelight. I would never dream of gigging something like that down the Dog And Duck.
17. Limelight use a Sprague cap in their vintage relic basses. I personally havent noticed much difference soundwise. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/sprague-orange-drop-capacitors-worth-it.465558/
18. Funny you should say that. I have just had a look at my right index and middle fingers, and there are a few white flecks.
19. I think Scott has the right approach in his learning by ear lesson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMM7G5PXCvw
20.
The most replaceable bass player in music
TBH I dont think I could do his job night after night.
21. None of us in our band use music stands apart from the singer who had an accident years ago which affected his memory.
22. Theres actually one for sale on this very forum! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/287157-limelight-1970s-precision-rosie-black-maple/page__pid__3086528#entry3086528
23.
It's one of two MIJ 50s reissue Fender P Basses I own. They're from the early 2000s. I just started gigging with it again recently. Real thin jazz bass type neck. A real fun bass to play with round wounds.I took the black pick guard off. Bought the 2 used for a grand with hard shell cases. Blue
Looks nice without the scratchplate.
24.
When I was learning bass guitar back in the mid 60s we had to move the needle back and fourth on 45 rpm vinyl to learn songs. Indeed it was frustrating and hard. Blue
I read somewhere, (Could have been Mo Fosters book) that in the 60,s and 70,s people used to play their records at 78rpm. Apparently that used to make the bass easier to pick out in the mix when played at a faster speed.
25.
Three blind mice?
Is also the intro to Atomic by Blondie.
