Yes. My Markbass CMD 121 combo is plenty loud enough for small venues. I have the New York ext speaker if needed, but rarely do.

Someone has requested that we play The Traveling Wilburies' - 'Handle With Care' for their birthday party in a few weeks time. While its an innocuous little song, I feel it has been let down by the bassline which was probably played by Jeff Lynne who is not really known as a bassist. A really nice walking line would IMHO suit the song better, rather than just doubling the guitar parts in the verse. I,m sure they could have used a session bassist rather than a one take 'That'll do' bass part.

Played ln another pub with a noise meter. It was set so low that even the crowds cheering and clapping set it off! Another band who came along to listen told us they counted it going off 15 times! As Bassbiscuits commented above, we also had to play classic rock so low with no balls to it. Funny how the quieter you play, the slower you play We wont be going back. Shame as the crowd loved it!

There's so many Fenders on the market these days compared to 30 years ago when we only had one... Fender USA. Now we have have Japanese, Mexicans, Nate Mendels, Dee Dee Ramones and lord knows what else. The 1963 Limelight I bought from Discreet, I have no intention of passing off as the real Mc Coy, as I also will not try to defraud someone by passing my Fender badged Squier bitsa as an original . Frankly, I have more important things to worry about.

I bought my USA P bass new and now matter how I set it up, I couldnt get it to play like I wanted. In the end, I took it to Andrew at Chandlers in Kew, who took one look at it and told me that it had a typical Fender hump at the top of the neck. He sorted it out and now it plays like butter! I dont know wether thats a QC issue, or just the way they are these days.

Those early single coil pickups are prone to damage. I had a paisley pink one and the E string got caught under the rim of the pup and snapped it in half.
