  1. I used to buy those cheap and cheerful cassettes from the market. I was only a kid and couldnt afford anything decent. They used to clog up the tape heads with that sticky brown gunk.
  2. We drive ourselves to gigs. The two git wrists live quite close to each other, so they car share. I have the Markbass combo and ext speaker which can quite happily fit in the boot of my Fiesta. The singer always gets there early to set up the lights and PA etc.
  3. I didnt think you could get KFC these days?
  4. I saw it a couple of years ago and loved it. The costumes and pit band were amazing!
  5. Tried them and cant get on with them. I,m sure they will quiten down a bit when they bed in.
  6. They are just so noisy when I run my hand over them. I must be too used to old strings!
  7. I have today taken delivery of a MIM P Bass which came with the factory fitted Fender strings. Scrape, screech! etc. I'm thinking of maybe fitting some of my favourite Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies ASAP! I guess they must be steel or nickle plated at least. Blimey!
  8. The closed back tuners are similar to an old Columbus Jazz I had back in the eighties.
  9. That reminds me. The Yew tree in my garden needs trimming.
  10. Trying to be overly funny, sometimes fails big time. Patronising is a word that springs to mind.
  11. The Rutles: "Ouch!"

  13. Well, I have ordered myself one of these. Loving the colour. https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_std_precision_bass_mn_lpb_2011.htm I daresay it will be unplayable straight out of the box, still it will keep me busy setting it up while snowed in again!
  14. Wow! seems I might give Thomann a look. Anybody know what stock strings they come shipped with?
  15. I have a Nate Mendel which is fantastic. However, I am thinking of getting another Mexican P Bass as a back up. I seem to recall that Mexican made Fenders suffered a bit from poor build quality back in the day and were not all that great. What are the new ones like these days??
  16. I had the same trouble. The basic riff is repeated in three different keys although that is straightforward enough. Its the choruses that catch me out, they are just to fast for my fat fingers. Constantine Islamow has the tab which I downloaded. That helped a bit.
  17. Having to learn this for a party in a few weeks. Pretty simple song, but the chorus seems to be in C Minor. I can hear a flat third Eb in there. Both guitarists are playing major chords so I better play it safe by rooting the C and F
  18. A few reviews on gear 4 music. I would probably suggest a Harley Benton or Squier. All good tried and tested entry level basses. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Santa-Monica-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Black/1I00#full-des
  19. Is she still married to Robert Fripp of King Crimson?
  20. I'm glad I lived and spent my youth during the halycon years of pop music - 70's & 80's. But now? There's nothing left, we, the previous generations have done it all, and all the youth of today have is unintelligible rap, and grim ghastly grime all downloaded instantly to their smart phones. They plug in and listen to subliminal messages of gang culture and violence and their parents are totally oblivious to the nasty programing their kids are listening to.
  21. True dat.
  22. Anyone use them? I am gonna give 'em a go but just wondered how many of us actually use them? I tried them once many years back and and didnt rate them. Scott from his bass lessons site demoed a few and really liked the sound.
  23. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac.I love playing along with that one.
  24. I asked sorta the same question yesterday. A Fender is long scale.
