1. I use open strings mainly for hammer ons up the neck. I also like to use an open D string as a drone while playing a little melody line up on the top of the G string over it.
2. 100% too. I got a bit caught out by Charles Mingus. I have never heard any of his stuff. Kim Gordon also caught me out. I knew Tina Weymoth played a short scale Fender, and did not have huge, hairy arms so that was a bit of a giveaway!
3. I have fitted Fender straplocks to all my staps and basses. I like the simple push/pull simpleness to them, and I can switch to whatever guitar or strap that I feel like.
4. I suppose they are only doing the top 20. There are far too many great bands that will have to be left out. But still, Blur?
5. I prefer the 4 in a row Fender type, although I find the MM 3+1 quite quirky.
6. I dont get the potato reference.
7. Gottabetort.
8. Have you thought about the Amphones? You can detach the quarter inch jack and use them as regular headphones as well. 9. The Nate Mendels come with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickup. They have been getting rave reviews. There were a few on here for sale recently.
10. My trusty stand has finally packed up after many years of hard gigging. What is the average price you would expect to pay for a decent stand that wont fall apart after a few gigs?
11. If you want a bass line where the player is unsure of the chords and hits repeatedly bum notes, have a listen to The Beatles' 'Long & Winding Road.'
12. Reminds me of this post I once read about some lad repeatedly failing his driving test. Some belters in there! https://www.thestude...d.php?t=1428829
13. Bb. A string first fret. You cant tell me that's not a pukka note.
14. I havent slapped for years. I used to do it quite a lot when it was popular. I cant even remember how to do it these days.
15. The Eagles: 'Please Come Home For Christmas' always goes down well for us. A nice slow bluesy 6/8 type of thing.
16. Location/Venue: White Hart, Acton, London Your age: 19 (1983) Your bass: Westone Thunder 1 Your amp: Vox 50 watt combo The set list (some of it): Mainly covers by The Jam, the Beatles and some originals.

21. Yes. Its One After 909 from the Anthology as WOT says. "What kind of a solo was that?"
22.
Hi, I will go and try one of those as im not too many miles away from Glasgow can i ask why you got rid of yours? Many thanks, Ben
I didnt really need it. Most of the stuff I do can be easily done on a four string. And I needed the cash
23.
Jaco is not known for playing fast or for playing a lot of notes. He's known for being fatastic. Please tell me your under 60 years of age. Blue
Oh yes.... A bit
24. Weather Report. Everyone loves Jaco, but as far as I,m concerned it just bores me shitless. How many notes can you play, and how fast? (yawn)
