2. mine's 1979/80, so that would make sense - thanks.
3. i've got the distinct feeling that my musicman sabre is one of the slimmer neck models - the width at the nut is a hair under 40mm anyone know for sure what counted as 'slim' ?
4. the density and eq plug-ins are great - i've been using them on the tune i'm working on with a mate.
5.
...is the Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy. Can get them for £130ish new, but might be nearer to your budget if you can find a used one.
same goes for the memory man with hazarai - i really like mine and they're a similar price 2nd hand
6. you can have my old phonic MU502 for the price of postage if you fancy channel 2-3 is a little hissy, but apart from that it'll do exactly what you want and i never use it... PM me if you're interested.
7.
The output is very low & it is passive. With the controls it works just like a passive jazz bass with a volume control for each pickup & then one tone control.
those mec soapbars are very low output - i replaced the one on my streamer std with a bartolini and it changed the tone radically. bit pricey for the OP tho - barts aren't cheap !
8. very nice if i wasn't in the middle of playing eenie-meanie-minee-mo with my basses to decide which ones are to be sold, i'd have prolly taken it off your hands !
9. there's an ad in the wanted section.
10.
silicone the hole and push the flaps into place, then stick a single ply of tissue over it with some more silicone
11. i'm shogunna keep an eye on that. i'll get my kimomo...
12.
C, 3rd fret on the A string, just marvellous.

Low C# on the A string. Ooh yeah!
deffo between B and D on the A-string. they just sing
13.
Hmmm stamped serial me thinks
aha - our culprit obviously works in a library !
14. i've had an syb3 and a 5 and didn't get on with them for the exact same reason as steve-bbb i have a digitech bass synth wah now - it's a bit more predictable.
15. you're asking us how much your wood is worth ?
16.
The Less you do the better, just give them the raw files.
plus the one
17.
The notion that an instrument is somehow automatically better than another because of where it's made is nonsense in my opinion. There are only two types of bass - good basses and bad basses. Good basses can be made anywhere, as can bad basses.
plus the one
18. i was very impressed with them when i had a mystery KA pickup - they gave me all the info about the wiring i could need and very lovely too.
19. sounds like microphone feedback to me
20. sounds like a great night out, and nice to see some of the 'greats' still have some class when it comes to their fans. i'd love to see jack bruce live...i have only envy

ALL GONE

all gone - thanks for the interest folks
22. owen electronics gremlin ? not easy to come by, but great pedals - i never had any problem with mine with active basses.
23. not added one for a while, but here's the board i used with the spacerock disco techno band at the weekend in preston epiphone thunderbird pro > boss tuner > mxr m80 (as a two channel pre/eq tobalance pick and finger-style sounds) > LS-2 (the bass synth and chorus sit in the loop) >pearl octaver > mxr flanger > ebs microbass > PA/amp i took this after we got back from the venue - the flanger's maxed and the 2nd octave control on the octave pedal is up...bit of end-on-set tomfoolery was in evidence the real key to the night was me taking my 50w laney linebacker on stage as a bass monitor. certainly helped me (and the other in the band) hear the bass better than relying on two wedges. i cut almost all the bass and boosted the hell out of the low mids and it worked a treat - didn't mess at all with the FOH - something the soundman commented on. top gig all round - and a top party afterwards
